    My dad has played Glen Hansard for as long as I can remember, but I didn't fall in love with his music until a few weeks ago. As for Buckley, I pushed him aside until I heard Lover You Should've Come Over for the first time. Six months later I've got Grace on Vinyl and is now my 2nd favorite album of all time. It's strange as lately music has left me feeling bitter. All but the two artists. Now knowing that the two not only knew each other, but were true friends absolutely blows my mind. As James Allen said, "You gravitate towards that which you love most". It was the attitude they both had towards music, that I've longed for, for years.

    Quarantine and Matt Bellamy got me into Jeff's music recently and i cant get enough of him so i read every article about him whenever i can and it's all about him and Sin-é but it never says how he got there and how he met Hal Wilner exactly. At least what i've read. Amazing how those two defining things happened to him in one single night...it makes even more obvious New York was the place where he belonged. Too bad Glen missed on the chance to talk to him back that last time.

    Love Glenn's music Jeff opened up for the band of a friend and I was able to hang out with Jeff a few times after hours at the coffee house where he opened up, what a amazing soul to this day,anytime I hear Jeff I still get goosebumps, when he sang it was like being swept up in all the thoughts and memories from which that song was written. I'm a huge fan of Tim Buckley as well, their range was mind-blowing. Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone, was really great.

    It is unbelievable that we can love music and think we have heard the best. only to be awaken to angels that shared their beauty , and I had never once heard this Angels voice. just a fluke I came upon on a rainy afternoon, and to find this gifted amazing Soul to have been taken so quickly from you and I. the angels called him home, I see his face up in the sky and echoes of his music will never die....for Angels are Forever.

JB's talent was like 1 in a million. When he sang Grace and Lover and Last Goodbye he sang for about an hour. I had never heard anything like him before, ya know, and didn't know what to think, except WOW. Like when I saw SRV or first heard Michael Jackson's Thriller or Jaco Pastorious it blows your mind. So many stories about how Jeff came to be in New york his (mom) Mary tells one story, Producer of Sony tells another verson, and Glen tells his story. Guess it doesnt matter how Jeff came to be at Sine's he came and grew there as an artist and everything else is history. I love the way Glen tells the story about how he came to know Jeff, and love the song he wrote about Jeff, just lovely.

      Yea this Glen Hansard song to Jeff is beautiful tribute to him. It matters hugely..the truth

    • @jsb5607
      @jsb5607 2 года назад +1

      @@proinseasokiellig4388 I agree. The truth always matters hugely and is usually much more interesting than possible spin of some romantic, pretend destiny. In my reading along the way I read someone comment about the Jeff Buckley "mythology"??? I am a HUGE Jeff Buckley fan, but I do like the truth, and it never seemed quite right to me that people involved should be so confused on who called who and when. Soooo Proinseas O'Kiellig, cheers to you; we think alike = "It matters hugely . . . the truth." The Sin-e conflicting stories regarding when Jeff originally knew of, went into, and performed at Sin-e (I know he just guest sung one verse that night). Seems there is a photo of Glen Hansard singing with Jeff in Sin-e sooo, seems(??) to align with Glen's commentary. Not that there wasn't a break between Jeff beginning to play solo, regularly there. Also, Jeff WAS ambitious. The 20 minute verse 2 at Sin-e with Glen Hansard (Jeff taking quite literally that opportunity), and Jeff did the same to Gary Lucas(guitar player) when Jeff went into his own solo thing(stayed on stage) after Gary's and Jeff's joint performance was over = ambitious but uncool action as a professional, team player. Jeff also writes in his journal that he sometimes had used his good looks (well to that meaning) to open doors (good for him to have that self-awareness/honesty --- truth though is his looks would have opened doors without him trying to utilize them). Jeff also seemed to like shock effect --- answering the same interview question with a completely different answer/meaning on different interviews. "It keeps you from reaching for the gun too fast," yes, maybe, but it's also such an oh so dramatic thing to say. Saying provocative things. If true(???) kissing on the mouth a gay publicity specialist(Danny Fields) at an awards show (standing) where all could see (not to say Jeff didn't super like the guy and wanted it to be a joyful, fun thing) whatever; kissing standing(after I believe the story goes Jeff ran over to him) is not typical behavior at an awards show ----- seems possibly, purposely attention seeking, spotlight seeking. Being the only one dressed sooo casually at an awards show that you stick out too can be just comfortable or attention seeking. Soooo, I remain a HUGE Jeff fan for his amazing vocals, talents and hard work, but the truth seems that the ambition was way there. One can have big ambition but also have reservations/fears, nerves, want to start in smaller venues. Mary, his mom, says he was very ambitious. Good for her!!! To the truth(!!!) --- whatever it is ---- which is stranger, more interesting, more layered than any fiction :)

    First off let me say how much I loved listening to this. Amazing.
    The sincerity and the emotion of it are all that really matter of course but I do have a question about a detail. I think the commitments film was released in August of 1991. The st Anne’s church tribute to Tim was in April of 1991. Fully can see that glen introduced Jeff to sine… just unsure about the Hal Wilmer part. But incredible moments to imagine none the less. I wish I had been there.

Synergy, synchronicity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!: the coincidental occurrence of events and especially psychic events (as similar thoughts in widely separated persons or a mental image of an unexpected event before it happens) that seem related but are not explained by conventional mechanisms of causality -used especially in the psychology of C. Personally I am endeared to the idea of an Irish man introducing an Irish-American to an Irish tavern -- with the luck of the Irish striking longevity for Sir Buckley. We fans should really press for a truth' on this matter as it is a vital component of Jeff's rise and fall.
