@@jenihansen7201 happy Christmas to you, too🎉🌹😃👍. We have other hollidays but I know a little about Christmas 🎄 and it seems very happy 😊. May ALLAH protect you 💞👍.
We just used this video to help us with my sons school project of making pajama pants. The teacher gave us instructions that were beyond confusing. We are so thankful we found your video!
This is absolutely the BEST video I've seen for making PJ pants (or any sewing, really). Thank you so much for your clear, concise instructions. You should have a billion subscribers! 🙂
Like the idea of using hot hemmer which is new to me It has been 40 years since I last sewed PJs for my children so your tips are updating how I assemble PJs for the now adult children.. Your well thought out presentation is appreciated.
Great job but. I’m all about the easy. I leave my fabric like I got it off the bolt. Then I pin my stripes or plaids and match a certain places on the pattern such as the marks or crotch. Thank you for your time. May God bless all your days with so much goodness.
This all made so much sense and you make it all so simple to follow. I also love hearing the sound of the scissors cutting, reminds me of sewing with my grandmother. Thank you for all you do Jan. 💗🕉️🐞
Thank you for your clear, step-by-step instructions. I’m an experienced sewist, but had trouble figuring out pockets on my own. This made it crystal clear! Thank you!
Great video! I always leave my opening just off the center back so I don't have to deal with the seam when sewing the opening closed. Love all the info!
Jan, really good video about placing , and cutting out a pattern. Great instruction, information about how to lengthen, or shorten the pant leg. ( I always have had to shorten mine.) You even show how to measure to the selvage line, to make sure the grainline is straight. I learned these skills from my mother and I appreciate you still teaching the "right" way. (they way I was taught, anyway!)Many of the videos I have watched cut the notches into the seamline, rather than outward? One more tip learned from Mom- when you are sewing the "hole" left for the elastic. add a piece of ribbon or some type of tag to identify the back of the pants. Makes it much easier when you are putting them on.
Thank you for this tutorial. I love how you show the actual sewing or result of your sewing so we see what to expect. I want to sew my first flannel pants. I appreciate all the effort you put into your tutorials. Thank you again!
I am not sure why you never popped up in my feed until now, but your little tips and tricks, will be saving me a bunch of frustration, thank you so much for sharing and teaching 😻
I have traced nearly every pattern I have used; totally worth it, as I make items for family and friends. I use the gridded pattern tracing fabric, again, worth it.
Thank you for the video especially the square pattern but I always mark the front and back with a chalk mark you didn't mention this as this is much easier to recognize linda
I have to say of all the videos that I have watched, I just came across yours, you are fantastic, your explanations and pictures are perfect, I have been making pjs or years and always have trouble getting the pockets right. Your video was so thorough, you just made another fan. Thank you
Oh my goodness, what a beautiful video. You are a treasure!!! I have a list of pj bottoms for gifts I need to make. You have taken my worry from my shoulders. Thank you❤
Great video! Thank you for your great instructions. This is by far the best video that I have watched on how to make pajama pants WITH pockets. Again, thanks a million!
I also use the pants pattern to make muslin pantaloons to wear under my long dresses or skirts in the summer instead of wearing a slip. Living in a very windy area like Kansas, when the wind blows up your skirt or dress, someone will only see something that looks like clown pants. I sew some narrow elastic an inch from the hem. They are cute for all ages of girls and women. 🤡
Very good instructions and video, I had my pieces cut but I was not sure where to start, Very helpful. I also wanted to ask which serging stitch was used - 4T or 3T? I just starting to use a serger and the PJ pants will be my first project on the new serger.
Hi. I want to make my son a pair of jammie bottoms but my pattern starts at 34-36. Both sons are tall and skinny, so i need to make the pattern a 30-32 (or 32-34). I know how to lengthen and shorten, but need to bring the pattern in. Which side do I do this on?? The outside or the crotch side? Great video 😊
I know there are many PJ patterns out there, but would you mind sharing the one you used? I like the fit! I recently made 5 out of 4 free PJ pants pattern and now after watching your video I think my next pair will be easier and fun to make!
I made a few pairs of pajama pants 3 years ago. Then last month I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease, and put on meds that make me gain weight. It’s because I was 98lbs from the unknown Graves’ disease when I made those pajama pants. The anti thyroid meds only put you back to the weight you used to be before graves. Now I have to make new ones in a larger size. I always have to adjust the crotch curve on the pants patterns to fit the butt that people say I don’t have.
I how are you . I am Germany but i live in Canada. Do you please can help me how to say saeuming stick is. You did it on the Pajama Pants. Thank you claudia
Hello, why couldn't you have doubled up your material and cut the pattern out that way for two pieces to be sewn together? Thank you and Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year to you!
This was a Simplicity pattern. I wasn't 100% thrilled with it and tried to design my own, but I don't have time right now to do that. Wish I could direct you to a decent pattern. There are a lot of free pattern online and youtube vids showing how to make your own pattern from an existing pair of sweat pants or comfy pants. So many vids and patterns to construct, but so little time. Most patterns are workable especially if they are just baggy pj pants. Let me know if you find one that works well.
You said you cut each piece one at a time. Can the back piece and the front piece be cut twice? And do they have to be right sides together on the front and the back pattern pieces?
If cutting two at a time, say of the front piece. The fabric needs to right sides together or wrong sides together. If you don't, you'll have two front pieces facing the same direction. You need a left & right piece. I hope that makes sense. The only reason I cut one at a time is because I was lining up the stripes and plaid.
Hello Jan. I am Wanda and a new subscriber. My husband asked me to make him pajama bottoms but instead of elastic he wants draw strings. It looks as if I can do exactly as you have done here but add draw string, Do you agree?
If you want a drawstring, you'll need to create some holes in the front center casing. You could sew two button holes before you flip and sew the casing. I hope that makes sense. Looks like another tutorial needs to be made for drawstring. Let me know how it goes.
Not on this pair. Because of the pocket, you have to sew a separate front and back. On my child pattern, there is just one piece that includes the front and back. ruclips.net/video/PTS2IhtOStE/видео.html

You can find a pattern that has that option. Some do, and some don't.
Love it ❤ .. thank you

Great video but can I ask, is there any reason why you didn't finish the edge to the pocket with a zigzag or overlock stitch? Thanks
I used pinking shears instead. That will also keep the fabric from fraying.

absolutely. Just use the method I showed you in the video for shortening the pattern. Works really well for shorts.
Hello, why couldn't you have doubled up your material and cut the pattern out that way for two pieces to be sewn together? Thank you and Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year to you!

Not on this pair. Because of the pocket, you have to sew a separate front and back. On my child pattern, there is just one piece that includes the front and back. ruclips.net/video/PTS2IhtOStE/видео.html
is it best to lay the pattern lengthside? or widthside?

The leg should run from top to bottom on the grain of fabric.
