This was interesting to listen/watch. I'm glad that you two mentioned My Chemical Romance's look/video because that does usually throw people off. It did when the song was first released (I was one of those people even though at the same time I fall into generation you referred to) and continues to do so, but for those who can look past the weirdness they realise that MCR play good music.
I'm so glad my brother put this song by MCR on my first ipod back in 2006 when I didn't know how to put music on it. Got me into all of their music. Amazing band.
The Black Parade is a rock opera centering around the character of "The Patient". It is about his passage out of life and the memories he has of it. "The Patient" dies and death comes for him in the form of a parade. This is based on singer Gerard Way's notion of death appearing to a person in the form of their fondest memory, in this case seeing a marching band as a child.
I wish i had a parent who likes My Chemical Romance. Also, i think you appreciate the video much more if you are aware of the story the album is telling
Being a person that has been to too many ERs and funerals, this song is perfect. Going through tough times like that you feel you have to be strong for yourself and others. You might have fear and anger while trying to uplift. The song also shows that it is ok to embrace and accept death (for both the one who has passed and the loved ones they left). At the end of the day, we will all be joining the black parade
The theory is a song will speak to your heart when someone you love dies. I heard this song, probably not for the first time, when my Grandfather was dying. I was his full time, 24/7 care provider and I was frustrated (much stronger feeling at the time) with his 4 children basically running over me and my feelings. Something about this song gave me a feeling of peace; in my heart it was my Nonna (who had died the year before) and my Pop giving me strength to stand up to my Mom, Aunt and Uncles. To this day. 9 years later, I still get a rush when listening to this song. As a matter of fact, I got that rush while typing this response. "Sometimes I get the feelin' she's watchin' over me" -- my Nonna "We'll carry on, we'll carry on And though you're dead and gone, believe me Your memory will carry on" -- My Pop "Do or die, you'll never make me because the world will never take my heart Go and try, you'll never break me" -- both of them giving me power to stand up to my bully family
Do more with your son! He has some genuine reactions, i can see the confusion and interest In his face as when I first saw these songs on Kerrang TV and rakes about 5 views to actually appreciate the song
So I'm new here but this song actually makes me think of my mom who passed. The meaning behind this song is that when you die you remember your favorite memory as you pass (so you were totally right). It's actually a true belief from way back that people believed your most treasured moment comes to you at your moment of death. When people took pictures of their dead loved ones (circa 1800's) they believed they were helping their loved ones move on to the afterlife and if they didn't they would be stuck there in limbo. So this song actually goes through the death process and the light and the dark of the moment. Just a fun fact since this was a reaction video and sometimes it helps to have the meaning or history behind why it was written. :) I love your reaction btw. You are always so excited and I can tell your son is hesitant to show his excitement but I'm right there with you freaking out to amazing music!

These are some interesting reactions you are sharing, I had no idea the younger generation is somewhat oblivious to rock music. Keep sharing, your reactions are worth the watch.
I just got to say, the father in this video has one of the best music tastes I've ever come across. I am a '00 and I literally know every song popular and unpopular from the '70's all the way up to late '90's all the way from rock to reggae and the feeling people had can barely be compared to the modern music, it was real and it still to this date feels real. I'm not neccessarily speaking about this song portaited in this video since it's not that old, but damn do you get the chills when Gerard Way sings. Of course, there are exceptions, taking Avicii for example, he was the modern musics mozart having the orchestra trapped in his mind and ready for everyone to eventually hear. It feels like that realness is fading away in the modern music, almost everything is made by computer and you barely need instruments anymore, you need computer skills.
This sounds very 90s. It seems like I remember them from while I was in school, but I checked and they started in '01 and ended in '13. It seems this song is from '09. The visuals at the beginning make sense, especially in comparison to your explanation before you clicked play. However, the visuals then went into the band performing and that's where it stayed. I believe I would prefer seeing the hospital scene throughout the length of this song. They should've filled the video with the patients stay and experience in the hospital and possibly even show him flat-lining at the very end.
I'd need a link to reliable proof of this. RUclips started in '04 and the bands upload of this song to their channel is dated '09 but has no copyright/published date in the description. Their website isn't even very informative.
My childhood defined in one song. I forced my mom (Who also liked a lot of pop punk and whatnot, so she was fine with it although she got sick of the song) to put this on every CD we made. This, Dragula by Rob Zombie, and The Game by Disturbed had to be on literally every CD we took on road trips.
Hey! Just wanted to say that I love what you do here! I'm 27 with no kids, but if/when I do, I hope to introduce them to the music that I've grown up with and love! Keep it up, buddy!

It did when the song was first released (I was one of those people even though at the same time I fall into generation you referred to) and continues to do so, but for those who can look past the weirdness they realise that MCR play good music.
you should've had your daughter react to this as well
Mychem was more for like teens or 20 yr olds in the early 2000s. Original fans (people who were there) are like 25-42 now
You should have reacted the live one with Brian May haha. Gerard is Queen fan. Try pierce the veil or sleeping with sirens
I'm so glad my brother put this song by MCR on my first ipod back in 2006 when I didn't know how to put music on it. Got me into all of their music. Amazing band.
One of the most powerful choruses in music
The entire album tells a story and I think that's pretty unique and special, especially the story it tells.
Also, i think you appreciate the video much more if you are aware of the story the album is telling
the dad being so into it the whole time was so hearthwarming ♥
What a 17yr old reaction. Blank face all the way thru🤣
I love how the dad sits and smiles through the whole song hehe amazing to see i love this 😁😍👌🏻👏🏻
I watched a MCR concert on TV once. Not knowing much of their music and I was impressed with the show. Great band.
"Sometimes I get the feelin'
she's watchin' over me" -- my Nonna "We'll carry on, we'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone, believe me Your memory will carry on" -- My Pop "Do or die, you'll never make me
because the world will never take my heart Go and try, you'll never break me" -- both of them giving me power to stand up to my bully family
55 and it is one of my favorite songs. Even saw them in concert a couple of times
If I look really hard in my mom’s house I’m sure I can rustle up a copy of The Black Parade from 2006.
Who else is only here to celebrate the reunion tour?
Do more with your son! He has some genuine reactions, i can see the confusion and interest In his face as when I first saw these songs on Kerrang TV and rakes about 5 views to actually appreciate the song
React to Diary of Jane by Breaking Benjamin.
Yes I 100% agree
and So Cold
Diarrhea jane
@@durwood9196 you made me laugh, have a like
So I'm new here but this song actually makes me think of my mom who passed.
Hello! I just came across your channel today. I love reaction videos, especially the ones where people are soooo genuine like y'all. I like jamel aka jamal and india reacts too. But your kids are AWESOME! They are beautiful! Your wife must be a knockout too. Really enjoying your content. Don't be afraid to let the kids drive. I would love to see your reactions to "their" music. My daughter is 23 but knew who the Beatles were when she was 3. Thank you for sharing your family.
When he says at the beginning that this is more your generation’s music to his son and I geek bc me and my sister are 31 and 35 and this is actually OUR generation’s music😂 we were 16 and 20 when this album came out😳 it’s awesome MCR is getting a revival with all these reaction videos popping up on youtube, will always be one of my favorite bands of all time
Notice how he never pauses the video.
That’s how good this song is.. should be played all the way!
Bit of trivia about this video...the actor playing the 'patient' is the same actor who played the little boy in the film 'Witness'!!!
What a song. I'm a dad too an 18 year old who also loves loves it. N he pointed me towards falling in reverse which I now love. So I brought that one up proper lol.
Great job. I found this channel a few days ago. Here are a few favorite bands.Three days grace- any song
Breaking Benjamins- any song
Five finger death punch- wash it all away
Emo for life! Still to this day this album is iconic! I’m seeing them in 3 weeks and I can’t believe they’re back together. I cannot wait!!!
Gotta love that little smile at the tempo change lol glad I got to see before youtube takes it down. Good vid
Also check out animaljam(band) it's like a combo of guitar solos and early 2000s post hardcore
That whole album is amazing
I can't whatch this it will g note me i am emo
I just put on my eyeliner for safety
I love this song / album so much. I listened to it today while at work and it's just, so good.
This song is from ‘06. The Black Parade Album came out in ‘06 and this was the lead single.

I kept noticing your son looking away and I'm glad he explained that and I totally get that.
Hey! Just wanted to say that I love what you do here! I'm 27 with no kids, but if/when I do, I hope to introduce them to the music that I've grown up with and love! Keep it up, buddy!
