I really want to see a bunch of people go 'HOLD UP I know that riff', watch the realisation smack them in the face given how infamous this song is in interpolation/sampledom
@@veronikahk1826 If people have not heard of MJ then they should have their music player confiscated for a month and then the next month they are only allowed to listen to MJ. It's like not knowing Elvis or Pavarotti, it's not ok.
@@ludwigfan3013 Good point! Lol Sorry to say that I'm in my mid 50's, and my age group would get that reference 99% of the time. I would expect your age group to not fare as well. You are NOT getting old, just starting out!
I’m so glad more black people are discovering Sting. I got teased my whole life for liking more than rap n r&b. This is a blues song,WE CREATED IT along with country western, rock n roll, house music, jazz, hiphop. It’s all ours.
Aww...Stings 1st solo album "Dream of the Blue Turtles" will always be special to me. Do you remember when you are just turning into a teenager and developing your own taste in music? I wasn't metal, or hard rock, jazz or blues, punk or pop...so genres didn't get in the way of finding good music. That was one of the albums that I came across and it has some gems, such as "Fortress around your Heart", "If you Love Somebody," and "Moon over Bourbon St." Check it out.
In case you didn't recognize the guitar, it's the same one used in "Lucid Dreams" by Juice Wrld. They didn't originally credit Sting, and it actually went into a legal battle. Now Sting gets 85% of profits from Lucid Dreams (true story).
I don't think Sting sued Juice Wrld. It was some band called Yellowcard and they claimed that in the song Lucid Dreams, Juice Wrld copied certain melodic elements of one of their songs. Which is basically suing someone for their flow..
Sting an English singer songwriter has a lot of music you should listen too... and "The Police" his first band has a lot of hit songs that are worth a reaction ... Beautiful song thanks being the DJ !
The Police catalog alone would keep you busy for a while: Roxanne, Everything She Does is Magic, De Do Do Do De Da Da Da, Every Breath You Take, Don't Stand So Close To Me, Message In a Bottle, Spirits in the Material World. That barely scratches the surface with that group who were power houses in the late 70s/early 80s.
Great reaction india and great song by Sting one of my favorites.....excellent😃 by the way this song was included in the ending credits of the 1994 movie Leon: The Professional directed by Luc Besson and starring Jean Reno, Natalie Portman and Gary Oldman
Sting's creativity is off the chart. Such a brilliant song writer and musician. He had too much creativity building into his soul to remain with the band police forever.
The album this song is from is amazing. Great from beginning to end. This is a live studio version of the song on the album. This shows how incredibly talented Sting and his musicians are though. Anything from "The Dream of the Blue Turtles" or "Nothing Like the Sun" is awesome
If you liked this song you should try when we dance by Sting, such a beautiful song. Sting also did an opera piece with Pavarotti called Panis Angelicus and it is truly amazing...♡
This is a little deep into Sting's music portfolio for an introduction to his music. You might want to try something like "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You"
Yes you are correct his voice is like warm honey. Maybe try Moon Over Bourbon Street off of the dream of the blue turtles album by Sting well anyting on that album or you might want to try King of Pain by the police or anything by the police which he was the bass player and lead singer of have fun
The reason why it is so familiar, is of course because it has been borrowed, sampled whatever. In this video you have the absolute elite of pioneers of their individual instrument.
Please play more Sting! It's about time someone got around to him. Thanks, India! He has a large catalog. Fields of Gold is nice. I like Synchronicity I and ll. Walking in Their Footsteps is really relatable, right now. Love you, India. ❤️
Great show! May be one of the best songs ever ! I think his guitarist actually wrote this one. Other good ones from Sting-Englishman in New York and (duh) Roxanne. Keep rolling like a Big Wheel !
Sting's guitarist Dominic Miller, said that he was diddling around doing finger practice when Sting heard him play and told him he was on to something there. So they cowrote this song together. One of my favorites from Sting.
The harmonica solo in the album version is by Larry Adler too...... He has passed now but probably the best chromatic harp player that has ever existed
Nas sampled this record Shape of My Heart by Sting for his song The Message that was on The It Was Written Album. I think that you would like that record to react to.
gordon sumner - aka sting is best known from the reggae rock band the police-saw them in '83 on the synchronicity tour - but as a solo artist is amazing as well. just love this cd.
This song references the minor arcana of the Tarot that is the basis for the standard deck of cards: Spades correspond to swords, representing 'force of will' and the element of fire. Clubs correspond to staves or wands, representing 'force of mind' and the element of air. Diamonds correspond to pentacles or coins, representing material riches and the element of earth. Hearts correspond to cups or chalices, representing emotional fertility and the element of water. Tarot is about probability and the prediction of outcome, just as any game of cards. Of course we know that the muscle that pumps our blood has nothing to do with emotion or fertility, no; the 'chalice' symbolises an entirely different organ...
Check out Mad About You. Not a big hit but my favourite from his solo career. Saw him live in the ‘90s and he said before starting it “this is a song about lust” and it all made sense.
If you react to Every Breath You Take you'll instantly recognise the melody as well. I like your analysis if the lyrics, lots of people don't bother on the first listen.
i always thought this was the game of love or how we play the game or if we even choose to play and how we play it , but i could be wrong. i thought the cards where the types of people and how they express love. domination of one person, or someone that may hurt someone else. or someone who loves just for riches. but i assume as you get older playing the game of love is tougher as you have more to lose. but i think he is describing many players and their playstyle in regards to achievement in this game of life.
I appreciated Sting's solo work after The Police, but some of it was a bit too " pretentious??"..maybe...not sure Because he would always redeem himself, like "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You" ...beautiful song. "Sister Moon".... superb
strange that not too many people know,or react to Sting. he was, is a giant in music.
I know, right?
I really want to see a bunch of people go 'HOLD UP I know that riff', watch the realisation smack them in the face given how infamous this song is in interpolation/sampledom

As much as I want him back with Stewart and Andy in The Police, there’s no denying his solo work is also great.
i cannot get through this song without getting teary eyed. strikes a deeeep chord in me. the scale, melody...lyrics. a perfect piece of music.
Even after all these years, when Sting is mentioned, I instantly think of The Police songs.
Whenever I hear Roxanne I think of Eddie Murphy!

Sting is a song-writer (this one sounds like a poem) and was a member of the band The Police, very popular group, long ago.
The most beautiful song....

Nothing Like the Sun my fav Sting LP. Magic
Saw Sting live in the 80s at a Live Aid concert in Los Angeles. I love the Police. But his solo work is also great ❤️
Sting IZ amazing. So many jazz elements to his music helped bring me around to jazz years ago.

So moving. Love listening to Sting. A wonderful lyricist, musician and singer.
Between The Police and Stings solo work there is a vast library of music to cover... Great stuff, keep up the good work!
Always love this whole album. Fields of Gold is another great song.
Love Sting. Met him he's a great guy too.

Wow. I haven't heard this song in many years.
It sounds familiar, because it has been sampled many times. This is the original.
The harmonica solo in the album version is by Larry Adler too...... He has passed now but probably the best chromatic harp player that has ever existed
it may have sounded familiar at beginning because Juice Wrld heavily used the main sound in his excellent song 'Lucid Dream' that was a hit last year.
