Some of their best songs were written by Shel Silverstein--"Bubblin' Up," "I Got Stoned and I Missed it," and a song written for a public TV special about STDs; "Don't Give a Dose to the One You Love Most."
RIP Ray Sawyer...Growing up in the 70's with Dr Hook was such a thrill...Great music!!!
All the hits from my childhood ❤️. Silvias Mother is one of my favorite
I love everything from Dr. Hook. It is so refreshing to see a young lady getting into the oldies. Best music ever.
Saw them live in the early 80s. Showmanship to the Nth degree. LOVE them!
Thats cool man.
Watched them live in the late 70's in Australia, they were fantastic. Ray Sawyer (RIP) had a whistling competition with my young sister-in-law, he asked her to stand so he could see her, she was standing, she was twelve (as an adult, she was still under 5'), she ended up standing on her chair so he could see her, he couldn't believe a young girl could whistle so well. I have their albums. Love them.
"A little bit more","Sharing the night together", "On the cover of the Rolling Stone" "Sexy Eyes" all great songs
Sharing the Night Together!!
Don't forget Roland the roadie and Gertrude the groupie
Wow. They did that piece of $h!t too. I could have guessed. Now I'm going to kill myself.
@@clevellbarney8917 um...
Ok.
@@vernathompson261 Only if it's a guarantee that I'll never have to listen to this bottom-dweller crap again.
This was when we had a lot of young men back from Vietnam. These songs meant a lot to us to bring us back alive after being in such a bitter war Thank you India. I listen to Dr Hook every night after taking my sleeping pill just to mellow out. You are precious to bring your insight to us. I was a WAC(Women's Army Corp) during Vietnam 91B20 Medical Specialist. I subcribed
Love dr.hook seen them in person 4 tims loved it💝💝💝💝
Dr. Hook, what a range of songs. From their early stoner songs to love songs like this. Many of their early songs were written by poet Shel Silverstein. Love Freaking at the Freakers Ball, Carry Me Carrie and Baby Makes Her Blue Jeans Talk
You are so fun to watch. You are cute as a button. Don't worry, I'm am old great granny.
You are right she is fun to watch. I enjoy watching her and a granny too.
Ditto! Us grannies have great taste, just sayin 😁
Not a granny! She’s fun to watch!
Ditto.
Grannies unite.
@@lisavargas3656 Im not either. Girl fine af.
This is my 81 year old mother's favourite song, and my Mom was beautiful, also my Dad could be a bit jealous, plus my uncle told me all the boys wanted to date her in school.... there's probably a few stories I don't know about lol.
🤣 facts dr hook aint lie or ya uncle. When you have a bad chick this comes with it.
lets not forget "I got stoned and i missed it" and also "cover of the Rolling Stone"....course you can't go wrong with any of their songs really. Love Dr. Hook...
I turned a teenager in 1971 I loved the fact that I was a teenager in the 70s. I wish I had a Time machine I would go back in a second,
“Sylvias mother”
&
“Cover of the Rolling Stone” are two other great songs
Baby makes her Blue Jeans Talk!
I remember hearing this song on the radio in the summer of 1979. Great memories.
I just love the look on your face when you hear a “new” song that you instantly like.
Dr. Hook band telling what the heart thinks about being in love with a beautiful woman. Jealousy, temptation, pain, along with her beauty from those who should not be questioned. Your friends. So many great songs by Dr. Hook.
Anything from their first 3 albums is gold. They have many tongue-in-cheek, humerous type tunes.
I ushered their show in 71/72 in Kansas City Mo. with Rare Earth, made $5 for one of the best concerts EVER 😎
Beautiful 70s music from a talented artist Ray "Dr. Hook" Sawyer (RIP)
Gotta love that heavy disco influenced music of the ‘70s! We were all out on the disco floor back then. God I miss those days!
Dr. Hooks amazing. Love their music brings back memories. This song is so true. 🔥
Love watching a new generation experience the music that I grew up with (and it shaped my life)
Alright India! Now you’ve discovered my favorite band. Saw them live thrice in the 70’s. Been enjoying your reactions for several months, first comment.Nice to know you were moved by the enchanting voice of Dennis Locorriere, great ballad singer. For me, in the early years, I was attracted to the off color, somewhat irreverent lyrics of poet/cartoonist, Shel Silverstein (“Freakin’ at the Freakers’ Ball” and “Get My Rocks Off”), and the joyous performing attitude of the band. In my opinion, the best showcase for Dennis’ voice are the sad ballads, “Carry Me, Carrie” and “Kiss It Away”. Don’t miss “Sexy Eyes”, “A Little Bit More”, “You Make My Pants Want To Get The up and Dance”, If I’d Only Come and Gone”, and “The Things I Didn’t Say”. Thank you so much for such entertaining reactions.
Yeah, I remember this as a kid. It was quite a diverse period in music I think. There was a kind of urban cowboy thing, disco, new wave, the breakthrough for Gary Numan back home... and this has become a good one to joke around with too. I mean that's a bit self-explanatory in the chorus.
Has to be one of the best live performance, sounds as good as the studio recording.
I was lucky enough to see Ray Sawyer (the one with the eye patch) twice in my life...singing a lot of the Dr. Hook songs. Once was in Nevada at a casino, and the other one was in my small town during a fair (mid-1990s). He was very funny, and even though he must have done those songs a thousand times in his life, he did a good job of singing them as if they were fresh and as if he still loved singing them. I'm sure that by that time in his life he was totally worn out by them...as I've heard a lot of artists get that way with songs they are expected to sing for decades. I was very sad when I heard he passed away.
Dr. Hook had such talent, and with the help of Shel Silverstein's song writing skills their music was so fun to listen to, back then and even now, decades later. Sylvia's Mother which was mentioned in the video is one of them. Also, Silverstein song that I loved that Dr. Hook recorded was "A Couple More Years"
India it's fun to see that you have learned who Dr. Hook was can appreciate his music all these years later ... Refreshing cute reactions on your part. I always liked this song too.
Never thought they were appreciated enough. If you truly trust your woman you don't have to worry about your friends.
I love your new theme song! That song represents my teenage years. All that urgency to escape my upbringing and make a better life for myself. That song hits my heart every time. Also, I love Dr. Hook! I grew up on Dr. Hook on vinyl. They are so underrated!
Hi India how did they know to write this song about you in 1978? Great reaction video thanks for your work on your reaction videos.
Oooo, smooth, Gary, smooth.
Nice! During the 70s I was listening mostly to Aussie and British music, but Dr Hook was one of my favouite other bands, mainly because I loved Denis's voice (and I always thought of him as a cute bearded teddy bear).
Oh my goodness. I was so in love with Dennis Locorriere. I was in 6th or 7th grade. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. There is a video of them singing Sylvia’s Mother that you need to see. Great reaction.
Dr. Hook on Shell's houseboat? love it.
Omg I'm so glad someone is finally doing Dr hook. I love them. Thank you
Ahhh memories! A favorite of mine back in the day.❤
New sub here. Thank you for this, I've loved Dr Hook for many, many years, I've always felt they never get the recognition they deserve, especially in this day and age. "You make my pants want to get up and dance" always raises a smile.
Dennis Locorriere (lead singer) was one of my earliest crushes...and remains so to this day.
I remember listening to this when it was played on the radio. Love ya
Oh honey these are Legends🖤🎶🖤🎶🖤🎶 they have a blast just doing their thing. You can see the magic and love of music 🖤🎶🖤🎶🖤🎶🖤🎶
I can't say it enough................... when a song has a COOL GROOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So Fun!
Such a great song! They had several really great songs. I was 16 when this came out! 💕💕
Cover of the Rolling Stone!!!!
All kinda thrills,
All kinda pills...🎶
Did she do this one yet? It's seminal
Yeah, we heard they did that piece of $h!t too. Mass suicide anyone?
@@clevellbarney8917 it was funny.
@@stevecraig6076 I'll get back to you if and when I see it. Can I watch the video with my ears blocked? Doesn't matter, the effing earworm has just ruined my morning.
I used to sing this song all the time back in the day.
I always watch your videos with my mother, she is 65 and she is definitely grooving to this track. Unfortunately I have to hear about her when I was a pretty young lady stories, but I live it! Love your channel and your personality. Love from Canada!💗
im glad you still have your mom.
I'd give anything to listen to my mother's stories again.
TopPop yeaaaaaaaah the number one Dutch music show in the 70s and 80s .
My little sister loves this song so for her 40th birthday two years ago, I memorized all the lyrics to this song and surprised her with it at karaoke!!
Come and sing at my Birthday party 😎
What a wonderful brother, so sweet.
I was 18 when this song came out & i still love it. Great tune!
This beautiful woman got INTO the song! You were groovin' hard!
This the best of the 70,s music. Great song.!
This song was played a lot by radio stations back in 1978. Although this song was different for Dr. Hook and his band, he was already a proven commodity in the music industry by this time, and radio programmers gave the song a chance, and it became a big success for him.
Always a fan of the HOOK!! Thanks for doing this. Loved watching your reacts. Keep the positive flow going, beautiful lady
There are a cpl of naughty tunes too. Penicillin Penny, Rocks Off & Freakers Ball. Love anything Dr. hook. Keep up these great reactions girl, they’re superb.
Hey India girl! Even **IF** you never do another one by Dr. Hook-pleeeease react to their “A little bit more.” Very sweet, yet sexy song! I used to always play it when I was on the way to and from my boyfriend’s house, back in the day, in my late teens- 🤭🤐😉. Love this entire album? ❤️💛🤘🏼✌️ PS Oh!! “Sexy Eyes” is another great one of theirs!
Your facial expressions to the words is what is the best and don’t loose your cool ass personality. Thanks
Dr Hook was a straight up rock band when they first came out so you should go back to the early 70s and listen to those songs
I have always loved this song! They have some great songs
You go girl!!! I loved watching you dance to the song. This is a song my husband and I love. Great reaction!!! ty for not stopping it in the middle. :D
Hi India, I really like how you're playing my favorite songs from 'yesterday' lol It seems like you are really enjoying the old funky disco tunes that we were all grooving to back then... 😏 this is a song i still sing in the shower❣
Good song, haven't heard this in a long time. Liked watching your reaction to it. Always like seeing your reaction to certain songs I like.
India, what a blast it is to share these old-school videos with you.... stuck the 70s here lol🖖
Good band__'"" alot of good music worth checking out:::
A song that never went anywhere, but we always play it on fishing trips is DR. Hook's "Everybody's making it big but me".
IMO....Dr Hook is one of the absolute top bands of all times! Their sound is far better than many of the better known groups. Oh what a voice the lead singer has...wonderful! And lastly, the band had a sense of humor...a personality! Long live Dr Hook!
This song was so fun!!😊
I am so glad you picked this one for a reaction.
Dr. Hook must hears: Living Next Door to Alice, Queen of the Silver Dollar, Everyone’s Making It Big But Me, The Millionaire
Living next-door to Alice was done by the group smoky
Freaking at the Freakers Ball would be a great reaction.
Sylvia's mother.
And I agree with Sixpak.... Freakers Ball is a must for a reaction vid.
Just be careful you don't get the Roy chubby brown version though 😂
Living Next Door to Alice by Smoky deserves a listen. Especially the “Who the “F” is Alice” version.
Wow! Haven't heard that in years, but I remember hearing it on the radio a lot back in the day. His voice reminds me a little of Cat Stevens.
The lead singer of this song is name Dennis Locorriere. Ray Sawyer is the guy with the eye patch. He lost his his eye in a car accident. I was 8 years old when this song came out.
I recommend doing a reaction to Dr. Hook, "Better Love Next Time".
Thank you! Been asking for this one.
Dr. Hook has so much groove.. oh yeah... so good!!
"The Cover Of The Rolling Stone" is their first big hit. You should check it out...it's actually a funny song.
I remember hearing these songs all those years ago, this song is especially good.
There is also "I Don't Wanna Be Alone Tonight" and "Sweetest of All" and "Storms Never Last". Infact there is so many that cannot mention them all.
A most underrated band.. an amazing body of work. Might I suggest Carry Me, Carrie
This is my favourite song from Dr Hook, definately!!
I enjoyed watching you enjoy the song ... an old song I hadn't thought of in years! Thank you!
I listen to Dr Hook greatest hits doing my housework
You can’t go wrong with any of Dr. Hook. Such an amazing album Medicine Show. Check out “Years from Now!!!”
Only 16 by dr Hook .they were the first concert I ever went too!
These guys toured the entire world with this song alone.
"You Make My Pants Want to Get Up and Dance" is another great Dr Hook song you should listen to.
" when you're in love with a beautiful woman , it's hard " . You're not wrong there .
Andy Nixon Been saying that for years when I here this song! 😝
😄😄had to be a guy comment.
PHRASING!
I haven’t heard this song in a long time. I like it though. I like your reaction too 👍🏻🥰‼️
You are a beautiful Woman 😌
He's speaking truths about his experiences or at least from the writer's vantage. The way his expressions are throughout the song make it lighthearted and a bit comical.
Great song!
Hello India, I just subscribed to you're chanel today!!! Love you're facial expressions to the songs. My request for a reaction is : Stevie-b "because I love you" the post man song. Thank you and keep up the great work.

"You make my pants wanna get up and dance" is muh favorite Dr. Hook song. It's worth a good listen.
I miss you, India. Your efforts helped to create a genre of reactions.
I'm glad you're enjoying Dr. Hook! One of my favorite bands growing up. "Carry Me,Carrie" is one of their earlier songs.
love your channel India,,,, its always nice to hear your heartfelt comments,,, here's a song that I know will make you cry, its like a national anthem here in Canada: Fare Thee Well Love, sung by the Rankin Family
Try their "Medley" from a TV-show. My curly hair went straight and curled right back up when John Wolters, the drummer sang...
Thank you for giving some background to all of your reactions, I grew up to all of this music that you react to keep it up thank you.
Моя любимая команда!!!
They are a fun band with great jams
I know Dr hook inside and out and listening to this with you was a jam. You definitely get the vibe 😎
Saw these guys at a local fair. Front row seats. At the end of the show Ray (the guy with the eyepatch) came down and gave me his maracas.
I saw them in concert. It was awesome!!
I haven't heard that in years! 💞
