    Oh how so happy I am that you covered this video. I watched it again and again when I first discovered that video. Stevie can make anyone's song sound like his own because of how he rearranges the style to fit his aesthetic sound. He made the song sound like he wrote it for Sting or something. And Sting is so wonderfully (no pun intended) humble to just stand back and let Stevie take the whole lead. I would be just floored like Sting was too, if Stevie sang my song and made it sound like a whole new version. So awe inspiring and amazing that prodigy is. I love Stevie. He's my favorite singer. Thank you, ladies, for the reaction.

    Sting has no ego here, because if he did he would be shown up by Stevie, just because he is Stevie. If you listen and watch a lot of Stevie he is just himself and he can’t help but be beautiful! Thank you

    • @hfortenberry
      @hfortenberry 4 года назад +5

      Sting does not have an ego here, true, but it's not because he would be shown up (he probably would) but he does it out of respect for Stevie, not out of a selfish need to protect his image. Simply out of love and respect...and his own sense of self-confidence.

    When you guys were stumbling to come up with descriptive words to describe Stevie....right at the end when he blew that last harmonica high note...and Sting came over and hugged him.....well, it should have been so simple for you two. He is....just, succinctly...exactly, what his name signifies of him. He is a musical....WONDER.

    While I do not share your appreciation of Sting, I love Stevie Wonder. I do think that Sting has found his place for any performances where he shares the stage with Stevie. How does he still hit those notes. I first saw Stevie on the Ed Sullivan Show in the late 50's. He sang "I Was Made To Love Her", I think I was around 8 yrs. old. He left an impression on me. He was Little Stevie Wonder then. You two sound good together.

    Stevie's harmonica playing is like singing, always very lyrical, & he phrases taking the liberties like he sings. Part of the main purpose for jazz players or anyone who improvises is to have a voice or personal sound on your instrument. Also, the bassist playing with Sting arguably one the best in the world, Christian McBride. "musical orgasm.....' mic drop! ha!

    I completely agree! When you hear Stevie on Harmonica it can only be him...Please listen to Stevie play harmonica on an old Dave Mason song, "The Lonely One" from DM's album, "It's Like You Never Left."...So beautiful, and so Stevie!..BTW, Leon Russell also plays piano on this song.
