- Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura finished a disappointing 4th-5th (tied with Boris Gelfand) in Moscow at his first World Blitz Championship, but this game was a notable win in the home stretch as he busted out the Muzio Gambit variation of the King's Gambit and defeated World Junior Champion Dimitry Andreikin of Russia. The tournament was won by Levon Aronian, with Teimour Radjabov (2nd), Magnus Carlsen (3rd). Lots more videos on ChessVibes.com

Half a point goes to Andreikin for accepting the Muzio.
What is muzio?🤔🤔
@Jericho Soriano ooooo🤗🤗.Thanks
@@rishabtapanbiswas3240 - this is called : ''Polerio -Muzio Gambit''. Polerio wrote about this opening at XVI century. Much more time before Muzio.
@@krzysztofizdebski1223 okey!! Thank you🤗
I love how Nakamura glares at Andreikin after he initiates the King's Gambit as if to say, "Yeah, I just did that...what are you going to do about it?" :P
Best Videography..the maker of the video should put a video course on youtube on how to make chess videos, This is fantastic compared to so many other crappily shot live chess videos. It's showing the clock+ faces+board+2nd board diagram all at the same time....all while the original board is at perfect angle. A++++
+Chris Cross I agree
you can't see the time on the clock because of the reflection. nevertheless I enjoyed the video

Yes, I agree too

Okay I just gotta comment on the layout of this video and say thank you. Great being able to see the game being played with a good view of the board. I wish there were more chess videos like this on youtube.
Absolutely brilliant way to present chess games recorded live and the view count proves it...
wasurechatta same!
Andreikin resigned. He did not lose on time. In the final position he is losing his bishop with a hopeless endgame. Thanks for watching!
what is the name of the music?
Love how Naka looks up before pushing 2.f4. Ain't no going back. He's probably the only Super GM with balls enough to play the King's Gambit...let alone the Muzio line. Insane confidence!
Paul West No, 2.f4 is perfect for a blitz game, Nakamura was just lucky Andreikin accepted to play such a sharp position with black. If anyone is confident here, it's Andreikin.
rRunner266 I know but if 2. f4 were that perfect more super GMs would push it during blitz. It just seems too risky at this level. That said, I would love to see Naka get some GM scalps with the Latvian.
What's considered "too risky" for a very long time might not be so risky anymore. I believe most of the GMs simply don't know the lines too well and avoid them, because they rarely face it. Nakamura is getting profit because of that. If more GMs would play it, after a burst of some exciting games, most likely it would lose popularity again after a while( Nakamura would start avoiding it as well). It's not bravery, it's a gamble - does Andreikin know the old lines?
To clarify my opinion, I don't want to take away anything from Nakamura. It is exciting what he is doing, but it's not as crazy or "brave" as it might look, I believe. Just a sort of strategy.
If you're willing to keep up with obscure-opening-theory which isn't of any value in your classical games and if it's your style to "shock" an opponent, then yes , 2.f4 is perfect. But as it happens there are chessplayers not interested in learning long non-valuable obscure opening lines and their style is just to outplay the opponent without long theory lines.
That's why 2.f4 isn't played more often by (super) GMs and this is why Naka isn't brave, he is hiding behind theory, whereas others accept non-theoretical fights to show their real chess-skill. Naka is just a gambler, as v1das007 pointed out nicely.
I love the Nakamura openings!
si, gambito de rey!!. Aunque es muy arriesgado.
Видео из молодости. Великолепно.
Great video, very clear on every aspect.love how Nakamura is so sure abt what he is doing,he just looks so confident and calm.
2 pieces down and the confidence and composure to the find those amazing moves are unbelievable that is why Naka is one of my favorites

I'm pretty bad bro I just recently started playing
George Mahfood Chess is for everybody... and for all ratings... thats the essence of its existance..
Alright thanks man I'll think on it
Naka is the king of speed chess. Only he could have the balls enough to give up a knight after playing the King's Gambit.
Thank you for this video! Well done!
Really cool format, thanks for posting!
this was such a great chess game from both sides- not playing boring chess. Given up the knight so early by naka was amazing.
this is the game i've been waiting to see for a long time. ty for posting.
Really good footage of the game itself, Maculey you have done it again!
awesome video you created. best way to see the game!
very good upload, thank you
Great video!
thank you for your video
Excellent video!!!!!
Beautifully made! Also great muzio gambit from naka!
positional>materials
I've been watching so many chess videos lately, this one is by far one of the best.
This is the best produced / made chess video I've ever seen. Brilliant combination of viewing the players as well as the graphic of the board behind them. I wish every blitz video were like this. Please make more!
This comment is 10 years old. It’s bind blowing to even think about it. Our world was so different 10 years ago. I was just a 7 year old kid when this comment was written 😂
absolutely love how they show the board over the players as they play. makes it fantastic to watch I wish other blitz videos were made this well
thanks for sharing, your video is excellent because we can follow the moves very well. The game of Nakamura is amazing
More like this please. Best chess coverage production I've seen so far :)
Naka plays the KI and wins! Thanks for the video. The best I have seen. Shows the players and the moves. The best of both worlds. I will be looking for more of your videos in the future.
thank you very much!
specially for the good quallity and the chess board! very rare to see. keep it up please
Excellent video, that's the best way to view a blitz, or any chess match for that matter. Very hard to keep track without the graphic board to help. Kudos!
very nice video! congrats and thanks!
i really liked how you had that music come in right at the end when naka started the winning combination. very well done.
i wish all the World Blitz Tournament Videos like this they have board on the top of the video so people can clearly view their moves!! cheers mate
very well done video!
I wish all these blitz games were presented this well. The camera work, picture and virtual board were perfect.
I wish more GMs would play the king's gambit these days. It's always exciting for us fans to watch.
If they played the kings gambit then they wouldnt be gms
@@swank8508 Yeah, my opinion has changed. They shouldn't play it, except maybe on occasion, because it's not a good opening.
@@lewiszim - but at classic game Magnus played KG very beautiful, against player from TOP TEN of FIDE rating : www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1584993 It was called ''King's Tournament'' but it wasn't ''Thematic King's Gambit competition'' :) Normal tournament....
Thanks for showing the 2d board! Makes this much easier to digest at a glance.
Great upload! I love how you cover these games with the small board. Nice work. That young gun wasn't prepared for that line. Anytime you have a weak uncastled king with the d,e pawns ready to clear the center- against a GM...better luck next time.
Macauley, you're the man! Great video my friend. Your editing with the music and subtle captions is fine craftsmanship. I especially liked how you incorporated the computer chess board onto the screen to follow along more easily. Many thanks!
This is so freaking well done.
I started loving chess 3 years ago watching this video.Simply amazing
This is extreme excitement and tension, the kind of genius that makes most of us so in awe of players of Nakamura's caliber!
Muzio's gambit in GM practice, awesome!
one of the best blitz chess videos ever made.....be proud of yourself macauley............pls try for some more
THIS is how chess should be played at the high levels. Computers can only tell you so much. Over the board it's an entirely different game.
Justin Ferriman No
rRunner266 Yes.
Justin Ferriman No
rRunner266 Okay friend. Have a good Monday.
Justin Ferriman Elite players know enough to get at least a completely fine position against obscure opening lines like the king's gambit. Black isn't even forced to accept the gambit. Chess has evolved, so in classical games, these lines belong to the past. I agree with you that it would be great fun to see it being played, maybe one day...
I really liked the music right there at the end. Great game
It's the Muzio Gambit, and it's a lot of fun. With so much pressure on f7 early on into the game, Black can fall int so many traps, many of which involving fantastic sacrifices. There was a lovely game between Shirov and Lapinski in 1990 that is definitely something to behold.
The Double Muzio!!!! Very nice gambit that makes for an exciting game.
super legit game i like how both players reacted great game and post!
Amazing game!
Great to see one of the great variations of classical chess being used in a modern day tournament (albeit blitz) by one of the world's best.
what a game!! loved the knight sac in the opening. seems to make it very easy for white to put black under constant pressure - at least when naka plays that :P
great filming too!
Thanks for the video. I am studying all the kings gambit games I can. This was a good game. You can tell once a player is out of theory because they have to start thinking instead of just memorization lol.
Fantastic combination
Love Love Love The King's Gambit
Naka sacrificed his knight to keep it rotating with hand and think like Einstein
+smackdounnkol i get shocked bec of these kind of openings
@@vipulkaushal1597 The name of the opening is 'King's Indian Defence'.In this opening Knight sacrifices himself.
Brillante Manera de usar el gambito Muzio por parte de Nakamura, un grande...
Super excellent play by GM Nakamura! He perfectly maintained his positional advantage after piece sacrifice.
its been a long time i miss chess since highsschool i wish i was back on that
Been patiently waiting for someone to play the King's Gambit against me in a tournament. It will be a satisfying victory
nice video.
anyway GM Nakamura looks like he already knew that he would win after Andreikin accepted the gambit...
Great videos!! live action with those great mini boards on middle... you got yourself a subscriber
Impressive number of HUGE blunders by Andreikin during this match ! :o)
Very nice!
I can't believe Andreikin didn't know 6... Qf6. Amazing.
That music playing in the latest dramatic seconds was Perfect...Very nice idea. Thanks for this gr8 vid. U Mirin´ ?! ;-)
Beautiful Tension: Soundtrack Pro
this the song
@MsJiggleman - Oddly enough, clock times are not routinely recorded in the record of a game played in chess databases. The simplest way would be to use an additional camera, but I agree that would be an improvement.
Great game!!
The strangest game i have ever seen. Absolutely WOW.
@00bikeboy i believe its because if the camera is directly overhead the pieces can be hard to tell apart because the perspective makes them all look like circles.
very nice play by Naka
These guys are so good
Thanks Maccauley.. great video. Board players. One small comment is it possible to show the clock somewhere??
You are correct, thank you for pointing it out. Don't know how I missed that.
amazing naka!
Its amazing how the player on the left goes back in his head for each situation that appears on the board.
Yes! Finally someone who is brave enough to play the King's Gambit again! When did I see the last King's Gambit game by grandmasters? I don't even remember.
Great game.
very nice game.
@davidkaufmann16 - This video was edited in Final Cut Pro, with the board animation composited from a PGN file loaded in ChessBase 10. But there are many other options, of course.
very cool game by Naka all the way through
Naka calmly plays Nd5. What a set of balls...
Danny Gee Best move in the whole game! that man is good! although he looks like he was born a Jar, but he had a jar full of tricky shit..
+Danny Gee why cant Nxd4 be played after Naka's Nd5??
+Oussama Ashkar why cant Nxd4 be played after Naka's Nd5??
+jorn torenbosch well that's just it, he can. If black plays Nxd4 I assume that Naka had already studied the line and had a continuation. Black plays instead, Kd8 and Naka immediately plays c3. That tells me that a possible line after Nd5 (the big balls move), this is what he might have had in mind.
1. Nd5, Nxd4
2. Qc3, Bg7
3. Bxf4!, Ne2+
4. Bxe2, Bxc3
5. bxc3, c6
6. Nc7+, etc. But who would go into that line! Naka, that's who!
I'll add one more thing. If you put this game to a computer program and go through the moves, it's simply mind blowing how each player seems to play the best move so often. It's easy to watch a game like this and not truly realize just how good these players are.
Disfruto con el gambito
It was an excellent idea to put a 2D board on the video. It would be even better to also see the clocks!
Yes, i didnt thought about the check, thx for the answer
yes i agree
and to top that
put it on t,v here in america
but of course it must be live
So sick
not sure what you mean. They played the muzio gambit, but Bh6 so early (rather than the common Qf6, or even Qe7) is not a line. Upon searching databases, this is the only instance of that move that I could find.
It is the Kings gambit...great opening :-)
this video, help me to practice to my game tomorrow
This is where i became a hardcore fan of hikaru's blitz chess playing ability
Only complaint is that the ending music comes on too soon and unnecessarily alerts that the game is about to end.
Huau! Thats amazing!
Good video, thank you :) What's the song played at the beginning?
@renumeratedfrog because it messes with your visualization if the pieces aren't on the right squares to begin with.
It is the King's Gambit.
Incredible opening by Naka o_O
@renumeratedfrog I play chess, and experience has taught me that when the pieces aren't straight and centralized on the squares, it can sometimes cause one to miss tactics and simple combinations.
@Zonthoria
especially the muzio variation.
