Writer/director/producer M. Shyamalan returns to his roots with the terrifying story of a brother and sister who are sent to their grandparents’ remote Pennsylvania farm for a weeklong trip. Once the children discover that the elderly couple is involved in something deeply disturbing, they see their chances of getting back home are growing smaller every day.

To me, the scares in this movie were set up quite well, because they did a great job emphasizing the sheer unpredictability of the grandma and hence played on our fear of the unknown. It kept me on edge for much of the movie, as I never knew what the grandma would do next. Even though "The Visit" may not have been a great movie, I personally rank it higher than a lot of ghost movies (even including "The Conjuring" and "Lights out") in terms of scares.
This trailer intrigued me. In this movie, are they possessed or just crazy phycos? I avoid any movies with demons and ghost but if this isn't that I would watch it.

This movies really good. Creepy as hell in my opinion, when the grandma is chasing them under the house and when you finally realize wtf is going on, gave me the chills. Definitely worth watching

What a pleasant surprise that this was a Shyamaylan movie. LOVE his work. Loved this movie. Plot twists were amazing, acting was excellent, had jump scares, GREAT storyline. This is a 10/10 and 2 very enthusiastic thumbs up!
Both actors playing the old couple are great. They made me feel disturbed and unsettled thru the whole movie.

Just watched this movie tonight to sort of brush-up on M Night's style before watching *OLD.* I must say that I was very pleasantly surprised. This movie gave me chills and goosebumps on quite a few occasions and the wtf ending did not disappoint. I highly recommend for anyone wanting to watch something that may not necessarily be 'scary', but creepy and chilling. The film also had a few funny moments. Also, there's no denying that the actress playing Nana did an amazing job really embracing her role 👍🏼👍🏼
I honestly expected the ending but how it was revealed is truly amazing! This movie is really great.. Few dull moments but it's worth it! :)
i don't really get why the hate comments on this film. i actually think it's quite good. it's kinda slow in the beginning but it gets pretty intense later on. also, the combination of comedy and horror in this film is very refreshing.

I'm writing this comment in 2019. M. Night Shyamalan is back and better then ever because of The Vist. He now made Split and Glass. Those are both great movies. I can't wait to see what his next movie is.

I got to say, the hype in this trailer has to be one of the best build up’s I’ve seen in a trailer. It’s done so well! Plus the music at (1:41 - 2:15) has to be one of the most bad@$$ sounding movie trailer soundtrack’s I’ve ever heard. This has got to be one of the best M. Night Shyamalan films he’s made in YEARS.

Cerulean They’re not actually their grandparents. They’re mental hospital patients that murdered the real grandparents and left them to rot in the basement.
I'm here just to humblebrag that I called it early lol. They foreshadowed the mental hospital thingy way too much for it to not have any relevance in the story.
Just watched this movie.... and my heart is yet to calm the beating ..... i love the scare tactics ..... they were far from cliché .... love the camera perspective..... it gave as a 1st person perspective experience alot..... unpredictability of the grandparents makes you stand on the edge the whole movie..... the plot twist make your heart sink..... the contrast of age gap of characters ie old people and kids complimented the creepiness altogether ..... anyways M. never fails to amaze us.... this is now one of my fav horror movie....
As a horror movie enthusiast who has seen hundreds, this is one of my top 3.
I firmly believe in M. Night. "The Sixth Sense", "Unbreakable" and "Signs" were such strong films, I could never 100% give up on him as a filmmaker. (And sorry, but I think anyone who has given up 100% is too jaded) Even if this is another failure, I have to... no, I NEED to believe that M. Night has at least one or two more good films in him. So I will most definitely check this one out! Yes, "The Happening", "The Last Airbender" and "After Earth" sucked like there is no tomorrow... but this is the same guy who gave us those classic earlier films... He HAS to have at least once more masterpiece in him.
Don't forget Lady in the Water. Oh wait, nobody should remember that film.

This looks really cool and scary to me, though, so maybe this is the turning point. Basically, I think that when people started calling him "The New Hitchcock", it broke him. His ego went batshit crazy and he stopped listening to anybody and started relying solely on himself. It's actually a pretty common problem with directors. Ego is a funny thing. You need it, it's vitally important, but there must be a balance. All ego and no humility leads to Lady in the Water.
Unbreakable is probably Night's best movie

This movie was supposed to be called "Sundowning". If it is about the actual sundowning syndrome then this movie can actually be very interesting.
If Shyamalan doesn't put a twist ending in this movie, it would be the most unexpected twist of his career.

A film to make many people afraid of older people. Today there is little respect for the elderly and this movie helps to support and bolster that view.

Saw this movie last year at an advance screening, and even got to be apart of the focus group at the end and guess what... everybody loved it!! It's very FUNNY! Not like in a bad way either. M. Night Shyamalan really let his comedy side show in this one. The producers were going to put this movie straight to Netflix, but everyone in the theaters thought it was good enough for the big screen. He wasn't making a movie for a studio either, he made it by himself and I believe the response was positive so Universal picked it up.
I"ll tell you right now, the movie is surprisingly good. Great twist ending, great acting. This movie is a must see! I'm for sure going to watch it again.

This is such a great movie. This is pretty much the last good horror film I’ve seen in a while in theaters. Terrifier is also one of the best horror films I’ve seen in the past 10 years. Horror just isn’t the same anymore. We need more movies like this and awesome new horror villains like Art the clown
Should be exciting for this coming year. Terrifier 2 should be coming out with heavy title Halloween ends

Wow. I'm amazed. Blown away. How fucking original. Ever since Paranormal Activity, at least 3 movies just like this come out every year (including another Paranormal Activity movie) it doesn't even surprise me anymore. Why can't they make more horror movies like Insidious instead? Or Sinister? Those are the only movies that have come out in the last decade that could actually give me somewhat of a scare

Good movie.. unexpected twist ... There was some logic missing though...
SPOILERS ALERT!
1.Why would the mother just send her kids off to some grandparents, whom they haven't even seen in person all these years... that too on a train??
2. After finding about the fake identity, why didn't the kids just make a run for the door.. I'm sure they are faster than the old couple...
3. It was obvious the grandparents were behaving more dangerous towards the end.. why didnt the kids just say they will stay back longer, just to calm the situation and escape..
4. When Becca left the game table.. why didn't she try to find a way to escape but go down to the basement to search for her grandparents... That was completely stupid! If they had already killed Stacey I'm sure they're capable to do anything! Let the police search for the missing bodies.
5. The mum could've called anyone nearby that farm for help! The locals... The council team.. even their local police. There are many ways to call for help if her kids are kidnapped...she doesn't have to come there physically.
6. How did the fake grandparents escape and not get caught?? They were driving around in the city.. public places. If there are lunatics on the loose..wouldn't the authorities be searching for them or at least visit their counseling team.
Her mum would've at least got suspicious if the kids felt their grandparents were acting weird... It was obvious why the grandparents reacted whenever Becca asked about that incident.. coz they weren't there

Yeah the girl isn't forced into the oven she is asked politely and she does what the nan says. The nan then shuts the oven, cleans the front of it and opens it within 10 seconds so the girl isn't hurt at all.
The grandad has a disorder where he can't control when he pee's and poop's so he wears diapers that he collects in the shed when he poop's in them.
At the end the girl discovers that they aren't her real grandparents via a Skype call with her mom and then finds her actual grandparents dead in the basement they weren't allowed in.
The grandad is left alone with the boy and takes off his dirty diaper that he just pooped in and rubs it in the boys face and the girl is left alone with the gran and the girl eventually stabs her to death and the boy repeatedly slams the granddads head in the fridge door, killing him.
The police come and reunite the kids with their parents and they live happily ever after.
I just saved you from wasting your money on this shit movie

jennanuntavijan She has a medical condition called "sundown" or something like that and it is actually a real thing. It's a neurological reaction that is triggered when it becomes night times. That's why the nan is only really mad during the night but it does have some small side effects during the day.
took me months to actually give it a try but guys, it's worth it, THE PLOT TWIST IS STRONG ON THIS ONE xD the end is actually quite good!
I would love to work on an Extended Cut.

I just got done watching this, and I have to say, this is one of the best movies of 2015 I've seen. I enjoyed every bit of this movie! It's definitely a breath of fresh air in the Horror/Thriller genre!
This movie did the errie stuff pretty well and made you genuinely feel uneasy as if you were in the kids position. And I find usually those vlog style angles where you are seeing it through the cams perspective never come out well and usually seems cheesy but for this type of movie I’d argue that’s what made it better like for example how you see the kids wouldn’t see or understand what the “grandparents” were doing but caught them on film like some paranormal activity movie shii.
I was definitely surprised by how good this film was! It was creepy & it kept my adrenaline going! Hell of a plot twist to!
