    I think it's worth pointing out that different concentrations of "the same" fragrance, for example the EdT and EdP versions of Montblanc Legend, are almost never just the same formula at different concentrations.

    • @marioturcotte7938
      @marioturcotte7938 2 года назад +3

      When i got into fragrance collecting just a few months i was very confused about the concentrations. I understood the differences pretty easily like how an edt has less “oil” than edp or perfums but for a week i just assumed its the same fragrance just stronger. I now get why they have to tweak the formula its a lot easier to sell if you change it up rather than telling a normal shopper, “ yea that fragrance you have well we just made another one thats about 10% stronger.”

    I don’t really like the term clone as it makes a newbie think that it’s legitimately identical. When I was new to fragrances I thought wow, if CDNIM is a clone of Aventus it’s the same scent for far less money!
    They should perhaps be referred to as something like “an interpretation”. But as all of us in the community know a clone doesn’t mean a literal clone, I guess it’s ok!

    • @SaintsCheat
      @SaintsCheat 2 года назад

      Why? You realize they all expire. 1-3yr shelf life (then notes and performance will be very minimal and skin scents at best). Maybe for bottles idk, but doesn’t make sense to “collect” . Use em if you got em!

    • @BEAV0616
      @BEAV0616 2 года назад

      @@SaintsCheat I like to collect. The 3-5 years is for average colognes/fragrances. For designers it’s at 100% potency (usage) for about 4-6 5-7 years due to the freshly used ingredients. With that said many fragrances actually better with age (especially those with heavier notes like oud wood) depending on designer and notes and if they don’t and the fragrances are ones that lose potency after that time frame they only drop 1 or 2 percent potency a year. My Lacoste bottle from 2006 I wore last night smells the exact same and lasted about 4-5 hours. So for me the nautica is more for collectors item that is worth a pretty penny right now and it’s a memorable scent from my childhood.

So I chimed in to give my proper insight on why none of these are true and tell them to look up which one is the one you should by, depending on what you want.

      Arabic word for perfume. But in the west Attar means a perfume mostly 100% oil without any alcohol in it.
