I may be a bit buzzed currently but I have to say my absolute favorite beginners frag has to be the og Chrome by Azzaro. A very clean, masculine scent but the dry down really develops into something else (just don't consume anything sulfur heavy like onion/garlic.) Since I lost my collection in 2020 after a fire here in Southern OR and have been building it back slowly, I do feel like it's been reformulated but when I layer it with Sillage by Armaf I really get taken back to when I first bought it probably somewhere back in 2008 and it's still, if not one of the only out of my collection, that I regularly get complimented on. As a big guy I don't get complimented much on frags, niche or not, regardless but this has always been one that consistently gets me people asking what I'm wearing, even when I'm wearing it on it's own. Definitely a great fresh one that I've never gotten complaints on as long as it's not oversprayed. Even better is the price
My confession: I own close to a 100 bottles, and I've definitely smelled Acqua di Gio and the flankers, but I've never gotten around to buying any of them. I like them, but it's just never been something I've been like "Ooh, I need to buy that!"
@@Josh-hr5mc I have profondo. I held off on profumo for a while because of reformulation claims that it’s been watered down to nothing. Caved in and bought it this week though, for summer nights.
A 10ml decant of Aventus was one of my very first purchases. Long before I even tried Eros or Dylan Blue, I had tried Aventus. I’m probably an exception though. I had read about it and just had to know what the hype was and see if it really was worth the insane price tag
I bought my first 10 in this order: Acqua Di Gio Profumo, JPG Ultra Male, Spicebomb Extreme, Club De Nuit Intense Man EDP, Parfums De Marly Carlisle, CDN Sillage/Milestone, Rassasi La Yuqawam, Bentley for Men Intense. Now I grabbed the discovery set from Parfums De Marly and ordered samples of Green Irish Tweed and Pegasus Exclusif/Layton Exclusif. I’ll buy whatever I like most from the samples, and maybe get my brother one he likes!
Absolutely! Aside from the fact that Johnny deserves it, Dior's Sauvage line is truly solid - every last one, in my opinion, is 🔥. Men owe it to themselves to discover the whole line, not just the EDT.
I started to get into fragrances back when I was in college and my first bottles were Bleu de Chanel, La Nuit de l'homme and Armani Code. I can only recommend these three, plus Mancera Cedrat Boise and 1 Million ELIXIR.

I'm 43, been into scents since I was about 13/14. I've never heard of Nautica - Voyage. I don't think I've ever seen it in the UK either. No beginner is dropping £200 on a niche frag, especially when every company on the planet have a clone of it and some of them are almost identical, especially to a beginners nose.
I am just starting and I have made a list of fragrances I want to get as time goes on, but there are three that I specifically want at the moment, YSL Y and LNDL, Versace Eros and maybe if I want a 4th it would be Mont Blanc Explorer. What do you think? The rest of the list is just BDC, Dior Sauvage, V&R Spicebomb extreme, and other Versace and Dior ones.

Please!!! Frag heads! I’m trying to buy a niche fragrance for the summer. Amouage vs creed aventus, smw, erolfa Vs pdm percíval, sedley vs xerjoff Torino 21. I’ve heard many great things about torino21.
If you can find Torino21, go with that. It was limited edition and impossible to find now, it also smells incredible and is a winner in the summertime.

IMO the edp. They all smell a bit different. Elixir is cinnamony in a way; still nice but the edp is a nice smoother version of the edt. I forget what the parfum is like
Hey Ash, you said to put your nose on La Nuit to get a feel for and a stating place for the cardamom. I would love for you to make a review on club de nuit intense man limited edition. I haven't found one on your channel I've seen the regular intents but not the limited edition

I bought about 6 frags and thought I knew a lot and had developed my smell. It wasn’t until Prada L’Homme actually taught me how to smell. It was something really familiar but really different. Every day i could detect different notes in the opening, then id discover a new quality in the dry down. It took me many wears to fully appreciate it, and as i wore my other frags I would be able to understand more until i could almost see the fragrance and really be able to feel how one component “surrounds” another. Its like the ultimate medium/center point for your nose to create a sort of compass/scale.

do you want it to wear daily or more of a special occasion piece? I love percival because it’s so easy to wear but sedley has amazing longevity in the spring and summer due to that mint note. Layton is very interesting and there’s a lot going on it in but it is cohesive, definitely leans more towards cold weather/night scenarios though in my opinion.
@@BrentonSwart I’ve heard alot of sedley, is there a designer brand out there that is very similar to this ? I want to get a feel to what it is similar to. And I wanted my next fragrance to be more of a summer/versatile one! Thanks for replying, friend
The problem with all known perfumes like Aventus an Sauvage is, that everyone wears them. Especially Aventus. When I ride my bike along Leopoldstr in Munich, everyone sitting outside at the shisha bar smells like Aventus. 2 km long only Aventus. Almost like a stench. It is no special scent anymore.
I don't think everyone wears Aventus, I think everyone wears Aventus clones. There's a difference in quality though, I think. For as much as everyone wants to clone it, I've never smelled one clone that quite matched the quality.
In America, men for the most part do not wear fragrances at all. While I don’t disagree with you about it being so popular and not being special anymore, in America at least most people are not wearing anything and if they are they are usually wearing sauvage or adg
Completely agree with most of this list. The only one I haven't tried is Nautica Voyage. I'd probably put Bleu over Sauvage and maybe one of the Le Males instead of Neroli Portofino. Aventus, BC540 and Layton were some of the first fragrances I tried out. The One, Profumo, Layton and Cedrat Boise are the ones I wear regularly.
Got dior savuage parfum and elixir, invictus, blue electrique Ysl, dolce gabanna light blue intense, nishane hacivat, eros versace edp, nautica voyage, encre noir sport, jpg ultra male and armafs club de nuit intense man .
Creed Aventus for beginner is like a slap on face with hefty price tags and somehow the longevity is just meh. No offence to those Aventus owner. For beginner, I would go with Armaf CDNIM Limited Edition. My first fragrance is Dior Sauvage EDP. Shout out to Johnny Depp who greatly promote this bad boy 🤭
I have a small collection for a collector. Probably between 10 and 20 (wanna say like 15) colognes. Mostly of the lower end popular things, burberry, etc. I have Sauvage in my collection. I didn't care for it too much the first couple days smelling it, took a break, came back and something just triggered. Smells fantastic to me now, fruity and spicy and super hard to identify.
tbh the I agree and disagree with some fragrances of this list, the first fragrance that started my journey was La Nuit de L'homme EDP, not the usual EDT, but after I tried both, I think you can't go wrong with either of those 2, EDP is more floral powdery while EDT is cardamom dominant and more versatile.
Now to the fragrances that I disagree is nautica voyage, creed aventus, and baccarat rouge 540, the reason is the notes in nautica voyage can be too harsh and cause headache, for me at least. You can try montblanc legend which is a clone of abercrombie and fitch fierce, it's a little bit pricier but fruitier, smoother, and smells more sophisticated. Creed Aventus and Baccarat Rouge 540 is just too expensive for a starter, especially for teenagers who just started the journey and need a some times to save the money to buy stuffs. Just buy Afnan Supremacy Silver OR Armaf Club de Nuit Intense Men variants (whichever you prefer) instead of Creed Aventus and Ariana Grande Cloud Instense instead of Baccarat Rouge 540, they got similar vibe with a fraction of the cost.
Yup, when you're getting into fragrances, dumping 215€/$320 on a 70ml of Baccarat Rouge to smell like sweet cotton candy (although it's an incredible scent like most MFKs) is a pretty ridiculous take. I'm still sticking with my BC tester because I can't get myself buying it at this price.
Beginners clearly have the right idea. I recommend staying a beginner and smelling better than being an expert and smelling……well a bit weird at times to be frank.
I’m sorry but I think that for bang for your buck, explorer is better than aventus. I do find aventus better but I saved up for a w h i l e and wasn’t as amazed as I thought I’d be
Dont buy dior savauge because you tubers say everyone is wearing it. I was sceptic about it but yesterday i left my House (first time for 10 years) and its true... passing 10 year old kid - he smells like dior savauge edt 90 year old grampa playing chess - dior parfum, homeless asking me for spare change - again dior savauge. Thanks fragrance RUclipsrs for advice but its to late i already bought it and i smell like everyone.
I feel this way a bit about Mancera Cedrat Boise. Sauvage EDT smells immature to me but in a semi-pleasing and clean way. I probably won’t buy either again though I’m trying to get myself to like the Mancera. I think it all boils down to finding what scent styles please you and knowing that everyone has different opinion on every single smell. With that said, Dior Homme 2020 has been a huge favorite despite early community snobbery here!
It’s a very enjoyable and mass pleasing scent. Only fragrance snobs thumb their nose at it because it’s so popular. It gets complemented more consistently than most other fragrances in my experience.
In the bigger picture it is very rare to find some people that will wear the same fragrance as you at the same time that day or night. Yes, many guys and girls will have lets say 3-6 of the most popular fragrances out there. And even if you come across someone who has the same fragrance as you, who cares people really enjoy the fragrances and if a girl likes a fragrance she will compliment it even the thousand time she smells it on someone 😉
dear gent scents please look at the reply to my reply. they say i won something. is that true? thank you for looking into this. i am a longtime fan and love your recommendations.

I don't know,i don't have that fragrance in my country. But i bought Tommy Freedom and it smelled like a cucumber,i gifted it to my brother,i couldn't wear it

I have a question, i have versace eros eau de toilette, it smells great at the beginning, but by 3pm it smells kind of weird, when i smell my wrists its lost its original smell and there is a weird smell instead if that makes sense. is it because i have a weak concentration?
would've gone with Oud Wood for my TF choice personally but this is a spot on list 👍🏽
Definitely not a beginner cologne
Beginner into oud yes, but a not for a beginner getting into colognes in general

Is the TF blue line like neroli portofino discontinued?
That new Vince camuto homme intenso hasn't been reviewed anywhere i can't find one on RUclips or google
You basically just named my collection:
- Sauvage edp
- Bleu de Chanel edt
- Davidoff cool water
- Acqua do Gio edt
- Neroli Portofino Acqua
I started with SF acqua essenziale blu, didnt liked it. Heard of aventus, couldn't afford it and went with CDNIM by armaaf- didn't liked it. Upped my game to D&G the one EDP, again was not wowed by it as others say.
What is wrong with me? Any help.
Had kept moustache, JPG le male le parfum, spicebomb extreme in line.
But dont know whether i will like them also.
I had blind bought all the three scents, dont have a store nearby. I really wanted to develop a collection to wow myself and others. But so far it is not happening....☹️
Which is the best Sauvage version?
IMO the edp. They all smell a bit different. Elixir is cinnamony in a way; still nice but the edp is a nice smoother version of the edt. I forget what the parfum is like
I have three and want Aventus. I already have Club de Nuit.
Hey Ash, you said to put your nose on La Nuit to get a feel for and a stating place for the cardamom. So, I want a starting place for Iris... maybe one that you consider a bit more of a masculine Iris than Dior. Would you suggest Valentino Uomo Intense, OR one of the Givenchy Gentlemans? (I know you like those, and seen the reviews, but which would you recommend to start with?)
I just bought nautica voyage( first fragrance). What should i get next? Im
la nuit lhomme the one that got me started
I would love for you to make a review on club de nuit intense man limited edition. I haven't found one on your channel I've seen the regular intents but not the limited edition
Mancera Instant Crush is the bomb!!!
Would anyone really recommend Creed Aventus to a beginner given its price? It’s a steep price to pay if you’re just beginning to build a collection or just get into fragrances in general.

Prada L’Homme changed my life bro
Hello. Awesome videos. I have a request. I like DKNY BE DEKICIOUS MEN BROWN. BUT discontinued. Im looking for its clone which contain bitter apple and coffee. Kindly please suggest me according to you. as on fragrantica i cannot get any similar. Please must reply. Thank you.

I’m stuck between Sedley, Percival, or Layton? Please help me pick one !
Layton
do you want it to wear daily or more of a special occasion piece? I love percival because it’s so easy to wear but sedley has amazing longevity in the spring and summer due to that mint note. Layton is very interesting and there’s a lot going on it in but it is cohesive, definitely leans more towards cold weather/night scenarios though in my opinion.

For as much as everyone wants to clone it, I've never smelled one clone that quite matched the quality.
hahahah wirklich so schlimm? Ich riech da eher Sauvage mehr als aventus, wenn ich durch die Münchner Innenstadt Spazier
USA isn't the most cultural country so it's the opposite. Aventus is considered stinky and nasty.
you’re obviously surrounded by trust fund dependents
In America, men for the most part do not wear fragrances at all. While I don’t disagree with you about it being so popular and not being special anymore, in America at least most people are not wearing anything and if they are they are usually wearing sauvage or adg

I bought a 200ml bottle of the parfum the other day in preparation for the celebration of Depp winning his trial. Oh and my 🐕🦶 on a 🐝.

I do find aventus better but I saved up for a w h i l e and wasn’t as amazed as I thought I’d be
did you sample and test it first?
Nishane hacivat is better than aventus with a bit cheaper price.. better performance than aventus and explorer too
As others have said, most beginners aren't, or at least probably shouldn't be, getting niche fragrances.
