  • SOLD! Congratulations and safe travels to the new owners.
    Hull number three of the incredibly popular Nordhavn 55 design, she is a strong, capable offshore cruiser and one of the most popular trawlers that Nordhavn has built.
    She has been underway seeking adventure since she was commissioned. Her sellers are the third owners, experienced boaters, who knew ENTERPRISE III was something special when they purchased her and have actively travelled thousands of miles while maintaining her in “ready to go” condition.
    The original buyer had owned many other trawlers and was one of the first to realize the potential of the 55. He made excellent selections in layout out and equipment and traveled thousands of miles before turning her over to the second owners.
    They too were active cruisers owning her for four years. She has always been pampered while actively cruising along the west coast of North America, spending most of her time between Alaska and the PNW (all seasons) and Mexico Sea of Cortes.
    For the past seven years the current owners/sellers have enjoyed full-time cruising aboard this remarkable trawler home primarily in Mexican, tropical waters.
    The Nordhavn 55 design is substantial, she measures nearly 61’ overall and her impressive size features a tall freeboard for a dry ride and contains generous headroom throughout. Her high bow, efficient hull, practical layout, and luxurious amenities make this yacht ideal for ocean passages and remote coastal cruising.
    The quality of fit and finish has earned Nordhavn a reputation for seaworthiness, comfort, and strong resale values. The Nordhavn 55 model has been the choice of both novice and veteran cruisers and her ocean crossing capability, storage for provisioning and reliable equipment installed make her a mostly self-sufficient vessel for visiting isolated locations for long intervals.
    Complete with an owner’s stateroom aft, guest cabin forward and captain’s cabin aft, Enterprise III provides plenty of accommodating options for comfort and rest aboard. One of the great features that helped launch the success of the Nordhavn 55 is the incorporation of a private head and sink on the bridge deck. This “day head” is aft to starboard and is a great use of space to provide this essential convenience. The location is ideal if you are on watch in the pilothouse and is a quick few step away from the action in the saloon.
    The pilothouse is what separates the Nordhavn 55 from the typical motor yacht. The window placement provides a near 360 view which rivals that of a large commercial boat. The Stidd helm chair puts the captain within easy reach of all bridge controls and allows for a commanding view of the surroundings of the vessel. One of a few Nordhavns with the ClearView portal in the forward windshield. Aft of the helm chair is a raised L-shaped settee and table that accommodates up to five people.
    A Nordhavn is not meant to park in a marina, its purpose is to travel! By keeping on the move, systems are maintained in good working order, ready and reliable.

    I am speechless that is one of the nicest trawlers I have seen yet. I loved the freezer and the bathtub. I loved the flybridge. The cabins were amazing, and the galley was great. One of the better buys out there even if it needs a lot of deferred maintenance. Lots of aging systems but asking 1.1 is a fair starting price. Good move up boat for those in the +/- 40’ range and knowledgeable about what systems are important to upgrade and willing to do the long hour overhauls. Good presentation.

    You know your stuff with trawler/expedition boats, especially the mechanicals and design features. Good feature that you have a location schematic alongside your narrative. Only one criticism - Slow down a bit. If your vids run a few minutes longer - doesn't matter.

    • @JeffMerrillYachts
      @JeffMerrillYachts  3 года назад +1

      Blackal53: Thank you for your observation. My brain does not work at trawler speeds - I think too fast, I talk too fast and it is hard for me to say everything I want if I change my normal cadence. This is free form, ad lib and I try to say enough for people to understand some of what is going on. They have gotten longer, I agree, that doesn't seem to matter much, people drop out if they lose interest but many do go all the way to the end.

      I hope you're trolling. With 1 engine barely pushing this probably gets pretty good mileage. Now some of these with 2 engines, faster speed, more weight you might have a point.

    For me the choice would be between NH55 and NH56 (or Shannon 53 HPS). More space & roll stability (NH55) vs less space & fuel economy & lower maintenance costs due to single engine and having no active fins (NH56) and less space & fuel economy & higher speeds (Shannon 53 HPS)

    • @JeffMerrillYachts
      @JeffMerrillYachts  2 года назад +1

      Mediterrano: You say NH 56, but that is the motorsailer, do you mean NH57? I don't think there are very many Shannon's out there, but they build a pretty boat. Thanks for watching.

    • @MrMediterrano
      @MrMediterrano 2 года назад

      @@JeffMerrillYachts yes, I really mean NH56. I prefer motorsailers due to quiet cruising, having sails as a backup propulsion and for fuel economy. NH56 is really nice but if I can find (and can afford it too) I would prefer a twin-engine motor-sailer. 2nd preference are trawlers. 3rd preference are fuel-efficient semi-displacement hull coastal cruisers like e.g. NH59 CP or Beneteau Swift Trawler of similar size.

      the boat is an amazing boat. TONS to offer and there's not good way to do a Nordhavn 55 justice in 15 minutes. Jeff's experience and knowledge of Nordhavn's and trawlers is impressive. I'd give a few more of his video's a look see. You'll find his insight, and experiences on the boats, to be impressive and comprehensive.

      Your 15 minute argument doesn’t stand, do a 2 hour video then if it’s being done to sell the boat, serious buyers will appreciate that more.
      But if it’s 15 minutes to gain views then.....
