  • SOLD! Congratulations and safe travels to the new owners.
    Nordhavn 60 - Paradise Found has securely toured two different owner couples up and down the US west coast in comfort, safety, and style. Jeff Merrill was involved with this build from the start, working with the original owners to place their order, helping them to create a very well thought out, personalized 60. Jeff’s experience getting aboard and reviewing multiple new and used sisterships (55 and 60) with his trained eyes to look for the best features and selections, led to many improvements, both subtle and significant. Many of these upgraded touches are revealed in this video.
    Being a later hull in the series, she has an improved layout. The entry level features and open saloon with large windows connecting to the galley which then transitions in to the owner cabin. One of the best improvements was the creation of the VIP island berth stateroom forward.
    The interior has traditional vertical grain teak with a honey color that has aged harmoniously. There are edge bound carpets protecting the teak and spruce soles and a rich dark granite was installed on the counters. Additional décor touches like the shade of the upholstery and color of the curtains show off her warm and luxurious accommodations.
    There are two staterooms, each with a private head and shower, along with a captain’s cabin and day head in the pilothouse provide plenty of sleeping accommodations. The saloon has a settee to port with a large teak fixed table opposite two Ekornes recliner chairs and the flat screen television is on a built-in lift. The galley is well supplied for preparing and serving meals. The raised pilothouse is controlled via a comfortable Stidd helm chair with all necessary navigation and communication in sight and reach. Below the forward guest stateroom is a large basement. Taking the stairs down from the entry level you arrive in the utility room with top load freezer and laundry appliances. The engine room has enough height that you can lean over a bit to get to both Luggers, as you head aft to the lazarette (water maker, batteries and air conditioning units) you pass the Northern Lights generator.
    On deck, a level foredeck with easily deployed ground tackle is backed by the Portuguese bridge. You can travel to the aft deck along the starboard side or visit the boat deck to port. The dinghy is an aluminum bottom rigid inflatable with steering seat and console that is launched from the Steelhead crane. Up top, the flybridge has a fiberglass Bimini top, two helm chairs and bench seating with a table.
    Traveling afloat on a well-appointed, high-end, and custom crafted house that can travel anywhere with deep water is one of the most compelling aspects of owning a Nordhavn 60 like Paradise Found. Seeing this Nordhavn 60 in person will prove to you the care and attention that has been continuously bestowed with affection and appreciation.

    Nice tour. I like the Bering better because of all the redundancies, engine room and lazarette which you can stand up not be stopped over.
    It's also is extremely stable in rough seas being steel full displacement boat. I guess it comes down to if you like that rolling motion you get with the lighter hull.

    • @JeffMerrillYachts
      @JeffMerrillYachts  2 года назад

      Otium: Bering builds a great ocean crossing trawler. Like Bering, a Nordhavn is equipped with the redundancies the owner desires, so not fair to say one brand does more than the other. Nordhavn 60 engine room is fairly tall - you can stand up in much of it. No one likes the rolling motion, I'd say a twin engine Nordhavn and a Bering would be comparable in side to side motion. Thank you for watching. You probably couldn't go wrong with either brand.

    Love the utility room with deep freeze and washer AND dryer, not a combo. One of the finest galleys I have ever seen especially having a DEEP double sink. Great engine room. Everything is so easy to access. Please quit calling it a "hot water tank" it is a water heater. There is NO SUCH THING as a "hot water tank", think about it. A water heater is a device that heats "cold" water. Something I don't understand is why these boat builders don't get more eco friendly. Add solar power, add wind veins. Some people may claim, "oh well, the engine is already running creating electricity from a generator which supplies electric to the Nav systems, to the lights, to the washer and dryer, etc. etc. Solar and wind can do the same thing. Here's an example. How many times has anyone been on a trip in their vehicle. They go somewhere in the Summer and bitch about their mpg because they are running there AC. Then they bitch about their mpg when they go somewhere in the Winter because they have to constantly keep their heater running. All these things use energy causing engines and generators to put more strain on these engines which causes more fossil fuel usage.

      Trd: Nordhavn determines the fuel capacity to match up with the hull and shoot to achieve a 3,000 mile non stop range. All range depends upon fuel and speed. Slow way down and you increase your range.

    Nice boat, really nice in fact. It is not hard to tell quality and craftmanship when looking at Nordhvn, Flemming and so on. I like the traditional "ship" feel with rich woods and a look from long ago. The European look that so many go for with the high gloss laminates and plasticy veneers are not for me. There are some great designed boats out there but the laminates that you would find in a Paris apartment look cheap (to me) and have no comparison to this Nordhvn. Again well done

    • @JeffMerrillYachts

    Very nice walkthrough, detailed and thorough. Just a small idea: remove that banner from the bottom of the screen. You're blocking 10% of the video, and we really don't need JMYS repeated 3 times. A logo is sufficient, and anyone who is actually interested will just clink on a link in the video description. Don't intend this to be a slight, but it would probably up the production value of your walkthroughs, and help to showcase what we came here to see (you and the footage of the boat!).

      @@JeffMerrillYachts it's not even the banner that's the problem. The problem is your camera man has your eye-line about 50% down the screen. This shows too much of the ceiling but not enough of the important stuff. A traditional rule of television is the eyeline should be about 1/3 of the way down the screen. The moment your cameraman gets told that and gives it a shot will 100% improve "visibility" of the field of view and the bottom banner won't be an issue.

    As soon as you showed me the engine room I lost any interest in buying this vessel. Designed for far off adventure and excursions if one of a thousand breakdowns occur you are so screwed unless you have a marine engineering degree to fix things. The overly complex mechanics are the problem. The same can be said about the vast array of electronics. The more the architects of this ship tried to fit in every last confusing electronic and mechanical system the more likely the possibility of an unreliable breakdown.

      About Time: This is not for everyone. It’s not like a car that you can easily operate and pull over to the side of the road and call for help. You do need to be prepared to take on this lifestyle and all the reasons that dissuade you may be the same reasons that excite those who become owners. The freedom and independence to get away is inspiring. A look at how many boats are out cruising will confirm that a large number of people enjoy this.
