The nomad 2 and its BSA close cousin do the same job, are more compact and are cheaper. They both look a lot better. Both also come with a filter with activated charcoal and a dessicant that is easy enough to change when needed. I added a separate pressure gauge with a nice large face for £16 and and a large filter (£22) just to be sure the air going into my guns is clean and dry.

I bought the BSA compressor after your review and think that beats this on several levels. All cables and hoses already attached on the BSA plus its about £300 UK less, smaller and in my humble opinion, faster. I love my BSA😊

I was close to buying this, but they were sold out at the time.
I didn't want to wait for it to re-stock, so I bought the Nomad 2 and ive been happy with it.
I've heard decent things about this...the only complaint I heard is that it don't last for more than a year if your someone who uses it constantly.
    Thanks again Andy.

Nice. Was that a Fast Show reference? Jazz. Nice. Anyway. Great review. The activated is intriguing as any engineer or chemist will tell you these remove hydrocarbons and not moisture. So oil etc. If it’s moisture removal then that is usually 3A molecular sieves. See Hill MK5 cartridge etc. Have a good weekend everyone. 👍

only thing that concerns me about theses compressors is the moisture content going into the gun did not really see much filtration there , only the charcoal filter . not saying it’s an issue because your not running it for extended periods of time for moisture to build but still i would like to see a little better filtration added in the package

  • @SuicideNeil

Does exactly the same thing as several other AC/DC compressors does, but costs 2-3 times as much. I'm happy with my Yong Heng ~£200 item- adding a little oil once a year is not a problem, and very few people will ever realistically need to refill their airgun while out shooting ( if you're firing 200+ shots per session then you'll likely own a large divers cylinder and get it refilled at a dive shop for a fiver )...

I imagine the Charcoal filter is to remove oil vapour from the pressurized air, it will not remove any moisture you need dessicant etc for that.
How does the Umarex do that?. On ours we have a separate large Dessicant filter assembly, so we have no issues with moisture getting into rifle.

Funny old thing your comment on buy cheap buy twice, I bought the 'blue' water cooled chinese thing (no names no pack drill) it was recalled last month by Amazon as it had a tendancy to go live in the electrical sense so it cost me a BSA replacement I did get my £250 back though

  • @fliesarenegade
    @fliesarenegade Год назад +2

Had a cheap chinese one. Well, still over 300€. It lasted 3 fills before it blocked down completely. Got the Hill EC right now and I'm very pleased with it. I have 4 big bottle (all over 500CC) PCP guns and only during (very) hot summer days it needs to take a break to cool down during filling one up. 3 of my guns are 300 bar rated. So: this thing looks amazing, but I'm more then happy with my Hill. Since I mostly shoot in my backyard I feel no need for a 12V option. When, very rarely, I leave my garden I'm just taking along a scuba tank. So every once and a while the Hill needs to fill the tank with a few stops. Up to now it did so flawlessly. I'm a bit curious to find out your long time test results Andy. If the Hill ever quits, this might be a cheaper solution. Have a nice weekend! Cheers, Filip.

First run and problem. The pressure stopped at 25 bar.

Over priced considering the Hill compressor fills bottles as well and there are a lot cheaper pumps out there that are totally portable.
Quality may be better but when these were sold sub $500 in the US I feel that they are ripping the British consumer off a bit,
I understand the British market is smaller but it is usable throughout Europe with the different plugs included so the European market is still large enough to not warrant such a high price tag over the American price.

Sorry to bother you Andy but I’m in a bit of a pickle, now I am retired I feel like giving my knees a rest and with the ReadyAir @ £620 and the Hills ec 310 evo being £850 the choice is getting harder.
Umarex doesn’t show any parts diagrams or spares availability, Hills shows everything but it’s a bit of an overkill for what I need.
So I wondered how the ReadyAir is holding up, But I really want to support British companies and I know the parts will be available.
So it would help my decision if you say that the Umarex is floundering slightly, so what do you say ! Then I won’t need to keep this video saved in my favourite section.👍

At just under 900 pounds I can't see any other reason to buy a hill compressor instead.

To me its a non starter, £800 no way.
I pay approx £5 to get my 7 ltrs tank filled
That equates to 160 fills of the 7 ltrs tank.
I don't know exactly how many fills of my PCP tank I get.
But I'll personally stick with my tank in the boot and save a fortune 👍
    Good reviews though

I don't know anything about these, other than kinda wanting to try a PCP air rifle and compressor but... just glancing over at Amazon, this seems way overpriced and people are complaining of problems. I dunno.
