    Hi. I've just received one of these today and it seems to be an updated version. I was preparing my teeth ready to be gritted over the power box wires but they have done a redesign and it's completely sealed and just how one would want it.
    I've just used it once so far and have to say IF It last a good while then I will be well happy. It is very well made, thickly and evenly powder coated and really quite quiet. The pressure gauge even glows in the dark!
    Time will tell but over the moon so far.

    I got one of these cheap compressor, mine is very very similar except it has less vents in the housing. After 2 months of weekend use it started to struggle to reach 250 bar and after a while it won't go past 120bar. Ended up giving up and buying a 9L scuba bottle, I can shoot for a month with one $10 fill, seems good to me.

    Don't use solder to connect the mains lead, use proper crimped-on spade connectors instead. A 3D-printed front cover to hide the terminals would be godd also. By all means secure the lead to the case using cable ties to prevent it being pulled. Other than that it's pretty standard fare for these PSUs and nothing to worry about. You might check the case is actually earthed by checking continuity between earth lead and case with your meter - it's not unkown some fail even this basic test!

  • @keithjurena9319
    @keithjurena9319 8 месяцев назад

    Dry air is a must but it is as hard on the compressor as the rifle. Humidity condensing in the cylinder ruins the lubrication, causing wear.
    My Spiritech compressor has a sintered brass filter so I modified it to a fitting to plumb air which has been dried over molecular sieves for days. The mol sieves are in a 10 Bar rated air tank. I withdraw air at a regulated pressure set at 0.10 Bar.
    I only use it to fill a rifle and it never gets over 30°C.

      Old comment but puzzled why you should not shoot if you don't know whether a PSU is safe to use or not? Several channels on youtube have taken these to bits and found the cases were not earthed, sometimes the cases are live and the only thing protecting the user is the plastic case.

    Old video but I bought one recently with some 7" / 8" long filters with the foam and moisture absorbing balls. The collar on the connectors can be pulled back whilst under pressure..
    I have fittings bought elsewhere in the UK and you cannot pull the collar back with pressure in the line. Dread to think how much damage a 7/8" projectile can do at 300bar if someone accidently pulls the collar back.

    It's Interesting that the compressor passes the standards required for high pressure air but fails on the power supply. I would have thought it the other way round. I see that the compressors with the built in power supply have failed British safety standards and were recalled. I have just bought one of these under a different name and blue in colour. It works very well. I wonder if these available today have now passed.
    Thanks for a great presentation.

  • @rick5078
    @rick5078 Год назад

    Easy solution to the dodgy power supply would be to make a ventilated box for the power supply to be mounted inside of. Install a panel mount XT connector and a fused&switched IEC C14 socket in whatever side of the ventilated box that you want to be the front panel and wire the sockets into the power supply. besides the XT connectors you could also add dc barrel sockets and other types of sockets to the front panel of the ventilated box to give it more versatility in use. A set of different dc sockets for each voltage the power supply is capable of producing. Just add labelling and you're good to go.

An 'Improved Yong Heng' ebay compressor for £199 is tempting, it appears you get a lot for your money BUT I don't want any nasty surprises, this video is eye opening in that respect. I own one of these and agree they aren't perfect; If you aren't tech savvy, avoid like the plague and stick with scuba bottles or shop filling.
    The first thing I do EVERY time I use my compressor, is turn the fan on and LEAVE it on for the duration since it will cool the system eveb if the pump is off...
    Unfortunately for me, my pcp tank is the size of a scuba buddy bottle which tends to be about 500cc and trying to fill it one go would burn the compressor out, so I have to fill it in stages, I found the best way for my compressor is to stop the compressor at 70 degrees and bleed the line so the system isn't under load, let it cool, then rinse and repeat.
    Its time consuming, but its the best I can do since the local gun range closed down and I can't afford a scuba tank😢

    Regarding the airtube corrosion issues . I recall AirAms suggesting the airtube of the NJR100 ( yep going back a while) a spray of wd40 up the tube, allowing it to dry before assembly. Anyone ? Lol .

      I just out of curiosity found the owners manual for the S100. Every 6 months pop 3-4 drops of oil into the reservoir via the filling adapter... then fire the rifle into some rag ... but don't load a pellet ! .... boom!

    Interesting with all the excitement of line voltage within reach of anyone around, you fail to make note of how f-ing dangerous 250 bar is. Just sayin'
