They both turned out great! I never understand why people go overboard with sanding and paint, clean it, paint it, lube it, and use it! Great job as always my friend!
I've not bought anything lately. I have about a dozen pieces to clean and finish that's been sitting in a pile. I sold one of my old Craftsman garden tractors 2 weeks ago and my wood splitter today, I'm getting rid of some of my stuff not used in hopes I can build my dream / retirement shop next year.
@@barryhunt5357 I hope you get time to clean some up, I hope you are able to build your shop, my wife and I love ours, my wife took part of mine! We do use it for events like holidays and cookouts, kind of like a second living room, only thing I would do to mine would be to add more foam insulation, when you build one look at spray foam insulation best bang for the buck!!!!!!!😀😁🥵 I notice the high 114 degree heat more than the cold!!!!!!!!!!
I decided when I saw yours that's the way I'm going on insulation for sure. I know we would enjoy it. I'll give her a corner like you did for your wife.
I appreciate that! I know my videos are long but my editing skills suck, but some people want to know how it was done or see it done, plus people can always fast forward.
Hope you do, because I want to see what you do! Have question for you since you make videos too, did I do right by trying to show all that it takes to clean up an old toolbox like this, my video was long, and I wanted to show what it takes to do something like this!
@djstoolrestorations I think so. At one time I tried to make shorter videos to appeal to more people. I didn't like how they came out. If someone is interested in learning about what you are doing. The will watch everything. Example. Paul Sellers did an 108 min video on restoring a wood plane. I watched the entire thing. I do that with a lot of channels. If someone is not into what you are doing they will skip to the end of the video even if it is five minutes long. I'm actually going to watch this again because I know I miss parts of it as my wife kept interrupting me.
great job! Looks sharp and everytime you look at you have the satisfaction of bringing back to life. I also call it the giddy win laugh that you scored and banked savings. Nice to see a short video of the tool box loaded. give us some ideas when we are hunting for ours!
Great! I know nothing about painting and I'm about to learn from a guy who tells me he knows nothing about painting. You did a fine job though. In my area, I can buy a toolbox like this in near new condition for $100 or even $50 sometimes. I would only buy a toolbox in this condition so I can paint it the color I want. I can't imagine myself destroying a nice toolbox. If anything, it would at least be in better condition than I bought it for.
It really is not hard at all, working on a new box and will try to show some more tips! boxes around here are really high, sometimes on Facebook marketplace there are some good deals but it is random!
Looks good to me. You can always put black mats on the flat surfaces later if the mood hits you. It's your toolbox. I'd rather have a rescue than a new one.
Not sure how it will hurt, it is not a car or a wall hanger, plus really the only rust was inside so sealing it and not letting moisture get to it should last the rest of my life!
i have been trying for days to find a video of how to get the drop down door off- and i finally found it thanks to your video!
Great stuff. Thanks!
Thanks, I try to show all that I do, so my videos are a little long, just fast forward to what you need!!!

Thank you! Have you found any good old tools lately?

I like how you explain what you’re doing & the reasoning for it. Excellent video

Very nice rust rescue. $50 well spent. Inspiring.
Thanks 👍
That turned out nice. I have been playing on fixing mine up, I just haven't made the time yet.

@@_BigLife_ Thanks, I value your input.

Thanks, I hope you find good things too!
Beautiful restoration, or rescue! Really nice painting! Definitely a lot of work with the glides, wheels etc.
Thanks!
Looks good. Did a nice job. Your tools, your rules😂
Thanks 👍
I just now finished the video I think it turned out great thanks for sharing
Thanks, I hope somebody might get something out of it!!
I like that bottom unit, never seen one quite like it.
I have one like it at work, I am going to add more boxes to it once I find some on Facebook!
well done, kido
Thank you sir!
Why didn’t you remove the lock before painting?
Was not thinking at the time!!!
Funny how some things get by us sometimes-
Came out great!
I am going to do some more, and make it a bigger tool box!
Great job 👍
Thanks 👍

Hey DJ is the bottom box a Kennedy box it looks just like mine.
Nice find for 50 bucks
I was sure it was made by Kennedy tools; I did not think it was a great buy when I first got it man was it dirty, now it looks great!

Thanks, cost savings, heavier metal, plus I can tailor build how I want to!
That cart would make an excellent welding cart.
Had not thought of that, but I think I will still make a big tool box!
Awesome work…. If only the locks were from liberty safe. Then you could just tell them you’re a fed and they’d practically send you the keys
Thanks, I get a key no biggy!
Take the lock number to a locksmith, and tell him its a Craftsman box and he can make a key
Copy that!
Those are called friction slides
Yea, I knew they had a proper name!
Painting over dirt and rust? No thanks.

@@djstoolrestorations It depends on the paint and primer and some of them are permeable. Rust begets rust.
