These are getting expensive, so if you see any S&K ratchets pick them up if they are a good price S&K made a good quality product and made this 42470 model for decades, I usually find them for 10.00 dollars and under, so they are a great buy!

STA-KON LUG, cutters & crimpers, restored!
That box is going to take a lot of elbow grease so I would buy a new tub of it !!!! LOL LOL LOL LOL
I think saving the handle was a cool idea, maybe I would have tried using wooden dowels instead of nails as pins and letting them run through, might have made a cool design. Heck I don’t know 😂 Looks good either way, I like it.
Hello from TIJUANA BAJA CALIFORNIA MEXICO. I learn a lot from your videos. tnks
DJ I would have laid out a pattern and made sure the nails went through both sides So look the same on each side This is a good idea I have to admit it Reason why I think it's a great idea is because it reminds me of what the used to do with flintlocks and black powder Reason why I think it's a great idea is because it reminds me of what the used to do with flintlocks and black powder rifles Because those stock stocks took a beating like you wouldn't believe Whenever they broke they nailed them together Until they could make a new 1I do like this This This is not my favorite style of axe
Learning a lot from watching your videos. Thanks for posting them. Im going to try and fix my uncle's hammer.
It's like the old saying How do you get to Carnegie hall Practice Practice Practice practice practice That practice will 1 day pay off when you're using stones on an ax I also when we sharpen sharpen axes with files Except now I've gone to diamond files Try set metal very fast
Love how the blueing came out. What brand is the blueing chemical?
Looks great Dj
Just means you're human In a day that doesn't go by when I don't screw up Keep the faith Rock rock on brother!
Put some hair around that hole!!
Can't wait to see you give new life to that box!!! Maybe extend the height of one of the drawers to make up for the missing one!
Nice haul! Y'all take care.
Nice haul DJ. Those 3/4" &1" drive sockets are expensive so i think you still did well.
Very good purchase!
Nice that you can complete a set now. I agree, I think you can save the hatchet.
Nice video.
if you decide to do a block off plate, attach it to the top of the drawer below...that way you can put taller objects on that side in the drawer.
Very nice I'm glad you filled and made you're 3/4 inch drive set I'm still working on making my 1/2 inch drive impact metric set and now trying fill a 3/8 thorsen metric set
I stop buying craftsman tools because when it breaks, you can't get same quality replacements for them.
Great! I know nothing about painting and I'm about to learn from a guy who tells me he knows nothing about painting. You did a fine job though. In my area, I can buy a toolbox like this in near new condition for $100 or even $50 sometimes. I would only buy a toolbox in this condition so I can paint it the color I want. I can't imagine myself destroying a nice toolbox. If anything, it would at least be in better condition than I bought it for.
Great idea
Thanks, I hope others see the value in old junk tools!
Love watching you do this. Great video.
Thank you!
That turned out nice. I don't think it matters if you cut before or after. I normally don't cut my kerf cut until I'm just about ready to finish the hang.
Thanks, I need more practice, love your jig idea!
I definitely need to find some.
oh yea, if you use it one time you will wonder why you did not buy it before!
Great score. I need to find a battery puller.
When I need more I will try it!
Nice haul!
Thanks!
Heat up the tip of the ice pick and bend a little hook on the end. Add an old handle and you have a handy little tool that can pull o-rings or seals and clean out small corners. I used mine yesterday to clean out the nozzle on a glue bottle.
Great tip!
Now put a handle on the ice pick to make a scratch awl!
Yea, I have made some already!
Great idea for handles. I use old plastic screwdriver handles on a lot of my files
Yea, I have made a lot of those!
Great haul DJ. You did extremely well.
Thank you 🤗
Did you know that you are supposed to "break" in files? Use them on brass when they are new, until they don't work as well, then use them on steel. A new file on hard steel may chip very easily, the brass dulls them just a bit, so they don't chip. If you find another chisel like that, I'll pay you for it gladly. Y'all take care.
Very interesting information. What about using a sandpaper?
@@akoznasovajusername that may dull them to much to quick, I'm not sure. Learned about the brass trick from a machinist of 40yrs, he is a great mentor.
I like this,I will try it!
Wow Archer solder that's good ole Radio Shack stuff there.. I still have 1 roll of silver solder left ...😁😁😁
Yea, I have 2 rolls at work! hard to find now!
To you the tester was probably worth it since you like it...........The Goldblatt door jamb saw is used to fit tile under door jambs, basically just take a piece of tile lay it flat on there as you cut the jamb and you have clearance to fit it under there.
Yea, the old tester lasted 35 years, thanks for info on the jamb saw, I will not use it because I work with metal jambs!
You got areal good haul of tools you will use ,any one or two of them is worth it . I had a good haul my self a new in package oldtimer knife with pocket clip S k,Wright, and craftsman sockets old codes monkey wrench ,double bit true temper axe .
Sounds like you did great!!!!!!!! I am always looking for double bit axes!
It's easier to dip it, even vinegar works. Still have my Robinair puller bought new in '73. Made USA.
Yea, I use it sometimes, I try to show different ways!
I ain't never seen anyone wax their damn tools. Some crazy shit there.
Yea, cool right, all my tools are clean!!!!
Am I the only one watching him press this handle and wanting to yell "heat it up" lol. If you hear that metal it will bend easier and retain the shape and won't bounce back
Too much trouble to pull out the torch, plus was not that hard!
I switched over to a blueing product called G96. Seems to be a darker almost black blue color.
I will try it next time I run out!
I am a fan of the straight claw hammers also. And like you I use the belt sander to fit hammer handles. I found it easy to take too much material or inadvertently shape the handle so it fits loosely on the top and tight on the bottom.
I have taken too much off before, I just cussed myself!
Yea, I need to pay more attention, sometimes I go to fast!
The statement about wax, if you don't take care of your tools they can't take care of you.
I have guys at work that leave their tools everywhere, and in any condition, and it drives me crazy!
That looks great DJ. It looks like a really comfortable hammer to use. I like the worm holes in the handle.
Yea, it really looks cool, the holes are different!
If I do cold bluing at the dining room table or the kitchen table my wife will simultaneously be a widow and convicted of negligent homicide.
Well my wife would kill me too, but then again she threatens me every day, ps my wife's duty weapon was a Glock, she still has it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice cleanup, looks really nice! 👍
Thanks!
I think I am the first to like and comment. Rock on DJ. Happy Saturday.
Sorry for delay in my response, but working a lot! and thank you for the kind comment!
Do you know where I could get parts for ratchet?
Ebay, but they are getting harder to find, so always looking for old junk ones for parts! they do not take up much room in my tool boxes!
@@djstoolrestorations thank you for the info.
Just picked up what looks like a complete USA made Craftsman socket set from a sale on Marketplace. All the 1/4 short and extended sockets in SAE and metric, all the 3/8 short and extended sockets in SAE and metric and the 1/2 short and extended up to 32MM and 1 1/8 SAE. Got extra sockets that are SK USA one Armstrong and a 8 point Williams. Couple no name or Taiwan. Got various extensions in sizes for all three drives. 2 1/2 ratchets, 2 3/8 ratchets and 1 1/4 drive ratchet. All will have to be taken apart and cleaned. Sockets are in good shape, just a couple with surface rust on the inside, some time in the evaporust and some polishing and they'll look new again. Unfortunately no Snap-On in the mix. Sometimes I'll get lucky in buying tool packages and get some of those. I turn around and sell those at a good price because I know the Snap-On fan boys will pay top dollar for them
Sorry for the delay, having to work a lot! sounds like you did great, I like Proto and JH Williams better than Snap-On myself, and Snap-On has not been around as long as the others!
Years ago (early 90s) I was a fleet mechanic for a taxi co. Used that tool a ton of times! Thanks for sharing!
I bet you saw a lot of stupid things!!!!!!!!!
Great Tool, I have the exact same model.
It is nice to have even if the terminal is not bad, just makes it easier!
Nice cleanup! For awhile you have been cleaning up just rachets now it’s nice to see you cleaning up different tools.
Thanks 👍
I just had a lot of the to get to, you should see all the pliers I need to clean!!!!!!
I have the same ratchet with the same issues, this vid came up on how to restore it. It took me about 1/2 hour to break it down and clean the workings and another 1/2 hour to clean up the exterior. I used a very light coating of Penn fishing reel grease and sewing machine oil. The funny thing is I have no idea where it came from.
I hope my video helped, and I hope it turned out great they are great tools, if you want to learn a little history about these tools go to Alloy Artifacts, it is an online museum, on the first page left hand side half way down to retail connections, there is a section on Craftsman tool history!!!!!!!!
