      I didn't use a speed booster on any of my shots.
      but you should be able to adjust for a speed booster, If you have a set scan or accurate geo to survey to you can easily adjust this in the parameter adjustments.
      you just need to adjust your focal length and distortion,

    @ 7:11, What is filmback, and why it is important?
    do we need to know filmback size of every shot? If yes, how will we get to know about the exact filmback value?
    what if I am trying to do matchmove task on a shot, filmed from my smartphone?
    and do we always need to start with the CG Scan that you use? If yes, so do we need to model those CG assets accurately every time before tracking footage?

    • @VFXTutors
      @VFXTutors  3 года назад +1

      Hi Akshay, Film back is the Sensor size of a camera, Filmback is very important as it works with the focal length to make the correct field of view.
      if you don't have the correct film back your cg can shrink or grow as the camera moves because of the wrong field of view.
      most cameras you can google the sensor size, but some smart phones are difficult to find this information, but also there is a lot of mystery stuff that happens in smartphones when filming, so sometimes its better to work from the equivalent focal length.
      I do have tutorials on tracking smart phone footage that will help you with this :)
      no you dont always need to start with a CG scan or set geo, but its better if you do as it will give you very accurate results,
      and working at a VFX company you will need to matchmove to already made geo,
      all my tutorials are to prepare you to get a job in matchmove, there are a lot of tutorials that are wrong on RUclips and are misleading.
      as a matchmove supervisor these are the skills i look for in showreels
      hope that helps?

    Hi Josh. I'm somewhat of a newbie to 3DE4 and I don't understand what the purpose of this is. my experience so far is track your shot either Auto or Manual, solve for low error then import into your 3D model/animation is created using the tracking data. (to make it move through the scene), then compositing it into the scene. I don't understand why you would have a 3d model first, then import it into the scene, then line up the camera according to that. I realize this is probably a stupid question, so forgive my ignorance. I'm at a loss, please i need explanation i am curiosity, how you do that? i need to understand this if i must call myself a professional.

      One utility is that you can make 3D VFX interact with the environnement (smoke could go around objects for example. And since everything is matched, you could directly add the rendered smoke above the original footage).

    I noticed the sensor size you state is 21.12x11.88 mm which is a 1.778 aspect ratio, same as your footage. I am just curious how you came to get that sensor size because if I check the manufacture website it says 18.96x10mm. Just curious as I shot on a camera which has a sensor size that is not 1.778 aspect ratio, and if I input the size directly into 3de it changes the aspect ratio of the footage and looks wrong. well here are some doubts i will like to get cleared
    3:16 you increased gamma value to 2.2, is this important? and will this value apply to every sequence or it differs throughout the different shots?
    9:00 i was trying to match geo to my scene but it didnt matched properly like yours, so is it okay to match it roughly?
    10:55 single frame lineup? means we have to match the geo accurately to scene for one frame?
    is it important to only track those points which we use to lineup the geometry?
    well everything went well, tried to follow each and every step, but one thing i need to know how much should be deviation value? you have got around 0.20 and mine it was 0.26. what value we should be aiming for?

    • @VFXTutors
      @VFXTutors  3 года назад

      Hi, So the reason for changing the gamma to 2.2 is because the images sequence is in a linear colour space, as this is how all VFX footage is used, this allows everything to be rendered in linear then have a final LUT/colour grade placed on all the CG and footage, so there is no miss match of colour.
      yes it fine to match roughly, its just so you can see where your surveying. yes the single frame line up is very important as this will help your solve to be very accurate
      and you don't have to track the points you use for the single frame line up,
      as for deviation 0.26 is very good, well done :) you should always try aim to be below 1 on the deviation

      So select your point, then go to the point tab on the bottom right, in 3d calculation there is a static weight value, it’s default is 1 but that’s where you can increase/decrease point weights

    survey free means

    • @VFXTutors
      @VFXTutors  3 года назад

      survey free means that you are letting 3dequalizer triangulate the tracking point in 3d, so it will figure out the depth from your solve.
      surveying is telling 3de that a 2d point is in an exact depth, this makes the camera solve more accurate

    One thing i dont understand is if you already have the focal lenght of the lens for the video you recorded, why dont you just add that info in the software instead of calculating the lens focal lenght with the software? I recorded a video with a 24-105mm lens and at 24mm, why should i calculate the focal lenght if I already know what it is.

    • @VFXTutors
      @VFXTutors  3 года назад +2

      Ivan Cueto you don’t need to calculate it if you know the focal length, I did it that way just to show people how to do it if they didn’t know it,
      but I it does help to do a calculation of the focal length even if you know it, as it may not be exactly 24mm depending on your focal distance, even if you calculate the focal length and it’s 24.3mm, it might improve your camera solve

      @@VFXTutors Oh, I realise my comment was a little stupid. I was working on a shot for a show and have been using 3de for about a week, so I'm not experienced with it. I aligned the supplied geo and tracked, but the solve then placed the geo somewhere else entirely. So the solve isn't accurate, and I don't quite understand this process yet. But I'll get there. I did use your tutorials to solve a pretty impossible shot. Thank you.
