Because one of cats loves to play with those yellow sticky traps when I placed on my pots, I've instead started to only remove the paper one side and placed a trap on the top of the inside of my trash can with tape and it works wonders to tap all flies 😁

Don't let people get you down on what you spend on any particular plant! I appreciate your transparency.
Fungus gnats-I've decided this is the time of year when they are more prevalent-hot summer months. I didn't have ANY for like a year. And now I have them in two plants. (Both with De La Tanks…) SO ANNOYING.
I water my cactus and euphorbia and succulents too! They *need* it! Especially when they're in pots and can't reach an underground water source. And no rain for mooooooooonths. :(

Just to ease your mind, most clear prescription lenses especially with an anti reflection coating have UV protection. So even if they are not tinted your clear glasses are still helping, just not for glare 😊

I bought a Katchy last fall after you recommended because I had a massive fruit fly infestation after I had COVID and couldn't get the trash out for two weeks. It saved me so much headache! Thank you for featuring it last summer/fall, I am very grateful for it.

I unfortunately also bought a lot of the butterfly sticky traps. I hate them. What I have found is the best way to get the paper off is to start at the bottom lobe of a wing and pull off super slow in a diagonal direction. Which is honestly way more thought than a sticky trap should require

I don't know if you've ever tried them or not for fungus gnats, but try Mosquito bits!!!! It literally got rid of my fungus gnat problem COMPLETELY, and I didn't even use it on all of my plants. Most people say soak them and then water your plants with that water but I personally like just throwing a little bit of the bits on top of my soil, on a few plants....and so far so good. I'd say out of my 60+ plant collection, maybe 10 of them have the bits in their soil. Haven't seen a fungus gnat in at least 2 months. Give it a try if you haven't!

I won a magic star in a giveaway on a planty FB group I'm in. Didn't think much of her to start with but she is doing really well in my downstairs bathroom and is such an easy plant! She has totally grown on me, her name is Mariah because funnily enough she lives with my white fusion who is a total diva and is called Whitney! All my diva plants get named after a pop diva! I assumed she would be the same so got a diva name too but she hasn't really lived up to it!

Hi Becca, I agree with you on the sticky traps, I bought some of the butterflys and it also had some flowers in the same box, they are not my favorite because getting them into a pot is not easy and sometimes they stick to the leaves of my plant because getting them placed in the pot is not fun. I was going to ask you a question about that crocheted pot because everytime I watch one of your videos I see that and wondered if it was a real plant and what kind of plant it was, that is just so cool and I think if I can find the time I will see if I can create one of my own. Thanks for this great video I always enjoy your videos and have fun watching them. I hope that you have a great rest of your week, take care and I will see you soon, sending love and hugs, bye for now. 🥰🤗💜

Well, technically, you can. That IS a choice. But you would kill any and everything beneficial in the soil as well as releasing other nasties from the soil itself that are harmful to your plants.
If you are going to go to that length, maybe just get De La Tanks soil and start over 😊❤️

@@heathertroynak9041 The beneficial microbes will reappear over time, especially if you use something like worm castings to help it along. The point of sterilizing potting mix is to (a) reduce waste by not throwing out something that impacts the environment to replace and (b) kill any nasties that have been harming the plants that were in it. It's the same as when people boil and reuse sphagnum or perlite. Reducing the impact our hobbies have on the environment is a good thing.
