Your linearis is my goal with taking care of mine! It will forever be my favorite plant in your collection. I didn't used to be a fan of the Hindu rope, but then you once referred to the leaves as tortellini and that just made something click in my brain and I was instantly sold. Now I have a variegated Hindu rope (named tortellini!) and it's one of my most prolific growers and easily one of my favorite hoya. 🥰
Anyone feeling the same about the magnifying glass, keep your eye out for a jewelry loop(found mine at drugstore $10), they can be super affordable, and 5-10x magnification, so much better than the dollar store magnifying glasses that only do 2-3x for identifying pests 😁 also it’s just neat to see your plants leaves up that close ❤️
I was never into hoya until I touched one. Now I love them. I only have a few. A hoya rope, crimson queen, crimson princess, wyettii, kerrii, pubicalix, and macrophylla.
Oh my goodness!!!! I don't want to come across as mean spirited but I had just finished watching another person's RUclips Hoya Collection video and theirs just does not compare to yours! Not one bit!!!! Your Hoyas are so lush, healthy and incredible! I am new to Hoyas (read between the lines: I haven't bought one yet 😅) and I am so looking forward to buying a few favourites. Your videos are full of tips and inspiration! I love watching them so much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart 💖
My own personal favourite is my Heuschkeliana Variegata 😍 When I saw your Villosa 😛 I had to pause the video and add it to my “Plant Wants” list, wow that plant is seriously gorgeous!
Omg Becca!! I’m watching your video while I feed my dog so I looked away and at the end my thought was “ why does it sound like someone died?” I looked back at the screen at cracked up!!! 💀 “Oh because someone DID” lol poor Hoyas!!! RIP all our dead homies (Hoyas) ! May they be lessons learned lol! Awesome collection!! Thanks for another great video ❤️🪴🌸🌵
oh my gosh I clicked so fast. I have recently fallen HARD for hoyas after not understanding the appeal for a while. Love the variegated wayetii and carnosa compacta.
Lmmfaoooo !! I grabbed for my remote at the end of your video, but i am SO GLAD I didn’t find it before seeing your RIP slides. I fell TF OUTTT at the end w that music along w the RiP to the Hoyas that didn’t make it to the updates video memorial 🤣🤣🤣 gone too soon🙏🏾
Your linearis is GOALS. My Hoya collection is sitting at 25. And my variegated obavata is doing the SAME thing as yours...putting out folded, odd-shaped leaves. I'll have to attempt Adam's (and Betsy's) warm bath treatment!
Love your point about small plants! My Lisa(I got as a tiny baby)grows very slow too lol Also wait until your retusa gets big, it looks like a fireworks show(to me)! Super unique and fun
Some of my Hoya AND maranta weren't growing so I did the sulfur treatment and they got new growth in two weeks. Blew my mind. I didn't even get a microscope.
Omg, the Flower Farm!! I live literally like 5 minutes up the road from there!! I buy most of my garden plants and houseplants from them, so that was cool to hear you mention them! 🥰 I’ve gotten really into Hoyas the past year. I think my favorite right now is my Hoya mathilde. I got her as a cutting and she’s doing so well and is so cute!! I’m also really proud right now because my variegated compacta is FINALLY putting out it’s first new growth!! I killed 2 others before this (rip) but I put this one in water instead of soil and it seems way happier. 😅
How cute is that cactus art on the pot?! Is that hand drawn?Obsessed 😍😵💫 I don’t have any Hoya- think I’m intimidated honestly. Your compacta is gorgeous
Loved seeing your wonderful Hoya collection! Mamy thanks for this video. I bought my Retusa because he looked like he was having a bad hair day and it made me laugh. Sometimes I look at him and his shape looks like fireworks going off! 😊. He has been nothing but joy from the moment I first laid eyes on him. There’s a good reason why so many of us love our Hoyas! (Thank you for mentioning the hot water treatment for mites). 👌🪴🥰
Lovely hoyas, so impressed by your variegated compacta. I love when hoyas are small because you can squeeze them in anywhere, but big ones are super lovely too. Thanks for sharing. ;p
I love your Hoya collection because So many of them are large! I love Hoya but I won't buy any of the super rare ones. You will love your kentiana when it's bigger! I have one that is absolutely gorgeous. My all-time favorite Hoya though is Hoya sunrise, and I think you would love it! When they are sun stressed they have beautiful veins and they grow so fast! Try it out!
I have been wanting to get some Hoyas for a while!!! I have about 3 on my wishlist. Will get them once I set up my wall hooks for one so it will have enough light when it comes home
I got pretty lucky last year, I found a hoya Lisa basket at my local nursery for $25. It slowed down for several months, and is now starting to push out new growth.
I just bought my first ever hoya this spring!!! It was a sherperdii (sp?). So far, so good. I also got an obavata and a variegated wyettii. I've had some mealy bug issues, lol I saw this white thing move!!! lol freaked me out a little. All is good for now. Really enjoying them.
Thanks for updating on your Hoya collection, it's amazing 😍 your compacta variegata is goals! the kentiana is green, so yours is either a kentiana variegata or wayetii variegata 😊I found a big pot of wayetii variegata in the Netherlands and it's stunning, the new leaves come in all purple 😍 obovata is "rare" in Germany, haven't seen it in shops at all - australis lisa on the other hand is super common and you can get a full pot for 5 euros at the grocery store... Makes me wish we could do transatlantic plant swaps 😄
FYI, I have found putting mosquito bits on the top of my plants soil keeps the fungus gnats at bay. It takes a cycle or two to get all the eggs but it is a life saver.
my favourite hoya is either krohniana silver or curtisii :) both of mine are finally growing and i'm so thrilled especially because i've killed both of them before LOL
Hi Becca! I'm newish to house plants and very new to your channel. Your content is so helpful! I really appreciate the way you explain things... And that Hoya collection is gorgeous! I have just a few Hoya: Carnosa Krimson Queen, Krohniana Super Silver, Carnosa Compacta and Pubicalyx. I have my eye on Heuschkeliana Variegata but they are a little out of my price range at the moment. What kind of soil mix do you use for your Hoya? I have my newest in orchid bark but I'm nervous they aren't getting enough water. What do you recommend?
Ah i love all your plants! My hoya has something going on and it's not healthy, i cant tell if it's underwatered or over watered so my plan is just to not give her water for ages lol. Love your content so much
I recently bought 3 Hoyas at a local nursery. All were simply labeled “Hoya” and that’s what’s popping up on my plant ID app. Every time I look them up and think, “Oh, that must be the type of Hoya I have.” I then see another that looks like it too. Lol
I recommend posting a photo in a local plant group and asking for IDs someone is bound to know! You could try asking the nursery too a lot of times they don't label the really small pots cause there are just too many :)
If you ever feel you need help with the whole large kentiana thing, you just say the word. We won’t let you down!!! Oh, your cactus pot 😢 you love that pot!!! I’m sorry it broke. That variegated Compacta, your Bodacious Baby, is totally stunning!
When Hoyas are growing new leaf vines ect they need alil.more water I've noticed a big change with mine keeping them just alil more moist when putting out growth give it a go I haven't lost any new leafs lol
I am so jealous of your linearis. I have tried it four times and just can't seem to get the conditions right. Every time it ends up looking sad and then I end up frustrated. It is the one plant that I have not been able to get the care right on but so desperately want it in my collection. Maybe some day.
fishtail Hoya are really hard to find now. I bought one years ago from a home depot for like $20. It was huge. Unfortunately a few years ago I had a thermostat issue and that was one of the plants that never recovered. I think they are among my favorite hoya.
Your probably right about the mites being the reason for that variegated obovata killing off the new growth😬 If it's otherwise healthy ( which it seems to be) then that's almost assuredly what's going on. I had this happen to my h. Villosa. For the first few months that I had it, I was keeping it in my cabinet with great humidity and good lighting in PON. It would put out new growth points CONSTANTLY, but before the new leaves would form it would just dry up! This happened over and over again until I finally read about those microscopic mites that can attack hoyas! I read about the hot water trick so I did that once a week for about a month just to make sure they were gone. And sure enough, the next new growth point actually produced leaves!!
I'm not the best at looking after houseplants but I'm tempted to add a Hoya to my collection. The Australlis Lisa has me tempted since that's my first name, maybe I will get lucky and it will do well for me.

@@ninabeena83 I wouldn't even go as far as the taco test, honestly. There's a reddit post on one of the hoya subreddits called something like "water. your. hoyas." and it talks about how people tend to underwater their hoyas and how reaching the point of bendy leaves is actually stressing the plant. I've found mine don't like to dry out that much (especially my curtisii!), and have lost some by letting them get to that point before watering, so I try not to let them get that dry anymore. If they're in a well-draining potting mix, I think you should be safe to water them regularly without fear.
