I had a different experience with the 100 and 99. I am using 100zz and you are right as when you are late to the shot, this racket makes you feel like you do not deserve it, but otherwise, it is a godsent especially when you are fit. I am built quite slim and I have never been considered physically strong (but I am more aggressive than others) so I passed the 99 when I was looking for a new racket. Plus the fact that i am not an experienced player. However, one day I got my hand on the 99and oh boi, that was outrageously satisfying. It felt like it belonged to me. It gave my smash what I would describe as a destructive and solid boost. Every position I would try even harder to smash and it nudged my confidence even more as those *bad chosen shots* came out so well, unexpected and with decent power. I am by no mean talented or good but I guess playing style and preferences play a huge role when experiencing such a demanding racket... Keeping my eyes on the 99 pro now. I could not stop thinking about it lol

Nice video and great comparison! May I know what's your usual source of knowing what equipment those professionals use? Like you mentioned momota switched from 3u to 4u mid-way in 2019, I found it rare for anyone on the net to talk about this.
I just love the video I have a question, I got the Astrox 77 4uG4 and love it. Currently its strung at 27 cross and 25 mains with NBG 95 Cosmic gold I am an intermediate attacking singles player, Looking for a durable but good repulsive string with medium feel for the Astrox 77, you have any picks? Also what string tension do you recommend bcz I wanna maximise the sweetspot but not string it too low too. Also should I string the crosses higher than the mains? is there any benefits to it? or should I just string the mains and crosses the same tensions? Thanks a lot for your amazing videos!! Keep them coming!!!
NBG95 sounds like a good balance for what you wanted. However if you don't mind thinner strings potentially breaking, you could try BG-80, 66 Ultimax, Aerobite or even Aerobite Boost? 25 lbs mains and 27 lbs crosses should be a decent tension. Try playing around with it the next time you string, go up or down in tension to find your perfect balance.
Where'd you get that info about momota changing the weight class of his AX99 👀 I'm looking forward to the 99pro but I'm a bit apprehensive about the head-heaviness as I prefer more evenly balanced racquets for singles. If using 4U is an option even for momota though (I realise it always is, but its not traditional) thats news to me
I'm actually deciding between the 88D pro or the 100ZZ. Which would you say is the more all rounder racket for a rear court mixed doubles player? Playstyle would be aggressive and with emphasis on placement. Do you think the 3U would be far too heavy for doubles? For perspective, used the 99 and felt it was too sluggish, then the 88s which felt too weak in power and too fast for my taste.
@@CKYew I did, though to be honest, I actually don't like the colors of the 88D pro...but that's just me. That's why I'm thinking about a 3U 100ZZ instead compared to a 4U 88D pro as the additional weight may put it's power and air speed close to the 88. What do you think? *As mentioned, there is always the choice of waiting for Kento's new racket...fingers crossed it's not as unforgiving as the old 99
hi ck !! i wonder in yonex series model which one would you suggest for best power amongst all..btw i’m more to offensive and full hard hitter and all of my rackets are strung at 30lbs..i now using 9000c but it feels more to even balance for my personal liking..would really appreciate if you could help me in finding ideal racket for me
Hi. What racket can you suggest for a mixed doubles player. Specifically the ones that plays at the back. I hope you can read this and hoping you can help me😅 Thank you & love your channel 😊😊
Its all entirely up to you. If you're looking for some speedy rackets, perhaps the Nanoflare 700, 800 and Astrox 88S. If you prefer lots of power, perhaps the 88D Pro and even the 100ZZ.
@@CKYew I must have missed out on that video. I just wanted your opinion as i respect your craft. Is it really medium as Yonex claimed? Because I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm looking for a downgrade from my 88D 3u G4 1st gen. Something more forgiving for casual plays. Thanks 🙏
@@JGHN-g8h Haha yeah, the 88D isn't a very forgiving racket at all. The 77 is certainly softer and much more forgiving. You should also have a go with the Nanoflare 800 which is super easy to play with 👍
@@CKYew Nanoflare 800! I’ll definitely look it up! One last question to throw at you if I may. Nanoflare 800 - Astrox 77 and Voltric Glanz. Which one would you choose out of these 3. A downgrade from 88D but don’t want to sacrifice too much power from this downgrade. Thank you once again CK 🙏🏻
U might feel that the sweet spot of the 100zz is a bit smaller than usual due to string tension, i was advised to drop my string tension by 1lbs since shape of the frame pulls the strings tighter 😅
Hello, it is not. Compared to AX99, AX100 it is less stiff, even balanced and compared to D10 a bit beefier with a bit more punch and very nice feel. From my point of view very underrated racket. I like it either for single as well as double play. Paired with BG80 it can do everything and still has enought power and speed at the same time if you need.
Anyone have experience going from a yonex voltric z force 2 to the Astrox 100zz? One of my VZF2 got a crack in the frame and need to replace it. After researching it seems the 100zz is the successor of it ? Thanks.
@@CKYew noted. Thanks mate. just wandering have you tested the new lining axforce 90 max dragon and tiger ? Lots of people said that the dragon may par when head to head with 100zz. Looking forward to see your review 😃.
Sry for the late post but iv been eyeing on the astrox 100zz(blue version) for quite some time now and I'm coming from the astrox 77, duora 10 and arcsaber 11. I was wondering if it would be a good upgrade from those rackets since I play a mix of both doubles and singles. Also, is there any difference between the red version of it? Because it does have a slightly higher price compared to the original blue one. And I'm also slightly sceptical because it was released quite a while back and there are newer rackets such as the 88d pro. And there might be a new 'pro' version coming out. What do u think🤔? Apologies for the many questions:)
I see you use a DJI Osmo Action. It's hard to find decent badminton videos where head mounted cameras are used! Would you recommend that model, or do you think a GoPro Hero 9 might have better stabilisation?
Coincidentally, my next video talks about the BTS process with what gear I shoot with etc. I’ve had the Osmo since it was launched (2019??) and I would 100% recommend it, even more so with their price now. The GoPro 9 have caught up and probably have better specs but they’re significantly more expensive. Maybe Osmo Action 2 might drop soon 😬😬
@@CKYew Could you film 2-3 minutes of singles play with the Osmo head mount and post it without any editing? I would be eternally grateful! Or maybe you already have some footage you could use.
hello CK! i just bought Astrox 77 4UG5 red version. Im planning to use BG80 power string, what string tension do you recommend for me as a starting point? i play 2-3 hours a week.
Hello, I have the same experience. It feels a little bit more HH compared to 100zz model, but less stiffer and easier to play with, less demanding, more forgiving. In 4U usable in single play as well.
The 100ZZ compared to the NF800 is a lot more demanding to play with. I found the NF800 to be one of the easiest rackets to play with. Have you seen my NF800 by the way? 😬😬
@@CKYew i can generate smash quickly with nf800, but the shuttle is become floating before it landed. So i need to confirm it with headheavy or my technique still low 😅
@@CKYew yes i have, and now i really can't decide which one to choose between ax77, nf700 and nf800 😂 but my choice is leaning towards nf700 since you said that it is more flex in the shaft and larger sweetspot.
For me100zz didn't feel that HH but was more towards balanced, maybe I am not professional enough to tell hahah, the one racket that I had no trouble telling if it was HH or not was the VZF2. I also felt that the 100zz had an insanely smooth swing, imo it felt easier to swing than the Arc 11 play, the swing of the Arc 11 for some reason felt heavier and less natural/slower. Currently looking to try the 99pro before deciding if I should get the 100zz or the 99pro.😄😄
Thanks for the great review. I'm choosing between Duora Z Strike and Astrox 100 zz and was wondering if you had any views on either. I have been using Z strike and really like it.. I'm considering buying a second racket and 100 zz looks really good so I'm confused.
It would be sad if the new color 100zz doesn't have the glitter logo. From the pictures shown by Yonex, I do not see any glitter on it. Hopefully is just the camera's fault.
hey ck i was just wondering, recently i tried out the 88d pro 3u and found that it was really unforgiving. it felt like you had to hit exact sweet spot to get any power and if you didnt it lacked a lot. im not a beginner, in fact i would say im quite advanced and can generate a lot of racket head speed. is the 4u model like this too? did you find it unforgiving or was it super powerful. thanks
How to astrox 100ZZ can develope my game like through will the clears from back to the back courts would be better, would my smash power would be increased or any other ways plzz help me thank you bro🙏🏻
If you're new to badminton, the 100ZZ might not be for you. Other easier to play rackets such as the Nanoflare 700 or 800 and even the Astrox 77 might be a better option to help your game.
Hi CK Yew, greetings from Penang, Malaysia. Recently, i have experienced using both different colors of Yonex Astrox 77 ( Shine red & yellow) and i have noticed the yellow Astrox 77 head tend to be heavier than the shine red version. Let me know your comment on this. TQ
I agree with ax100zz to be a little more flexible than 99. But I use the 99lcw version. I kinda like it because I feel like the racket is one with my body. Should I try selling off my 88d and get the 99 (orange or blue)? I believe they should be different right?
I train 5 - 6 times a week for 3 hours. I want quite a durable string for my Ax 77. I tried nbg 95 but I don't like the tight feel of the string (is it because I stringed it at 26lbs?) Any other options for string?
If you dont like the stiffness and tight feeling of the string, you need to go down in tension. There's plenty of durable strings around the BG-65, 65-TI etc and plenty of other brands too.
I don’t think the 68S and 68D is available in the U.K. so a review might not be possible unless someone decides to send me one to test out for you guys 😬
I love Astrox 100zz and 99 pro and I’m planning to buy one but confused btw them. Before I use muscle power 29 (92 gram) which is a heavy one and I’m planning to buy 4u version so help me decide. I’m an aggressive player mostly singles and sometimes doubles.
I wonder is there any difference in shaft diameter comparing Astrox 77 Blue to Yellow? If not mistaken, Blue has slightly thinner shaft than Yellow version. Anyone can confirm?
@@liutungwei5160 Close, there's always a tolerance with these things and also measurement errors. I've always rounded it up or down to the closest single decimal too.
Here my personal experience: (4ug5 for all, both 27 lbs ultimax 66 ) I rely on zf2 4ug5 for men’s double , good drive, good drop, power smash, but defense wise is less effective, Bought 100zz 4ug5, first game I keep hitting the frame and it feels like the string is broken, but it wasn’t, tried out few more games and I began to luv it, good drive, good drop, good defense but so far unable to get smash timing right The best thg on 100zz is it allow me react faster than zf2 , whenever I make mistake, I still able to perform a quick response hit ( I believe this is from the new tech they intro to this racquet ) I luv the boost cap as well, it does allow me to tap faster and more confidence I hv an apacs nano fusion 722 power 6ug5 to play on less aggressive game, mainly for def and drop only, less effective on smash Conclusion: It give me flexibility of the apacs nano fusion 722 6ug5, able to response faster and swing faster, with better smash , but less smash power compare to zf2

Sounds like you’ve answered your own question with the 88D Pro there, have you seen my review of the 88S and 88D Pro??
@@CKYew I did, though to be honest, I actually don't like the colors of the 88D pro...but that's just me. That's why I'm thinking about a 3U 100ZZ instead compared to a 4U 88D pro as the additional weight may put it's power and air speed close to the 88. What do you think? *As mentioned, there is always the choice of waiting for Kento's new racket...fingers crossed it's not as unforgiving as the old 99
@@aki5907 the 3U 100ZZ is gonna be a big beast!! and new 99? Why not get both?? 😬😉
hi ck !! i wonder in yonex series model which one would you suggest for best power amongst all..btw i’m more to offensive and full hard hitter and all of my rackets are strung at 30lbs..i now using 9000c but it feels more to even balance for my personal liking..would really appreciate if you could help me in finding ideal racket for me
I've done a best power yonex racket video. Check it out on my channel.
Which do u prefer between 4u astrox 100zz and 3u nanoflare 800
I prefer the 88D Pro! haha both the 100ZZ and NF800 are really nice rackets to play with and I'd be happy with both!
Hi. What racket can you suggest for a mixed doubles player. Specifically the ones that plays at the back. I hope you can read this and hoping you can help me😅
Thank you & love your channel 😊😊
Its all entirely up to you. If you're looking for some speedy rackets, perhaps the Nanoflare 700, 800 and Astrox 88S. If you prefer lots of power, perhaps the 88D Pro and even the 100ZZ.

Which one do you prefer between 4u and 3u for the 100zz
I’ve never had the chance to try the 3U models but I don’t find the 4U models lacking 👍🏼
I heard rumors that 77 is as stiff or not stiffer than 88d. What are your thoughts? Thanks CK
Not sure if you’ve watched my 88D review (might be helpful) but the 77 isn’t as stiff as the 88D.
@@JGHN-g8h I wouldn’t go with the Glanz but you should really enjoy the other 2 👍🏼
U might feel that the sweet spot of the 100zz is a bit smaller than usual due to string tension, i was advised to drop my string tension by 1lbs since shape of the frame pulls the strings tighter 😅
Big power thooooo 🤣
Hi, do you tried before Duora 8XP? Is it a very stiff and heavy racket?
No I haven’t, I thought for extra stiffness it’s the duora zstrike?
Hello, it is not. Compared to AX99, AX100 it is less stiff, even balanced and compared to D10 a bit beefier with a bit more punch and very nice feel. From my point of view very underrated racket. I like it either for single as well as double play. Paired with BG80 it can do everything and still has enought power and speed at the same time if you need.
@@josefbriza1391 sounds amazing to me! I’ll see if I can get my hands on one to try 😬
Hi, if I were comfortable in using the ZF2, would the 100zz be a good choice for me? Thanks
Ooof! Absolutely! I think you'll find the 100ZZ very pleasing!
Anyone have experience going from a yonex voltric z force 2 to the Astrox 100zz? One of my VZF2 got a crack in the frame and need to replace it. After researching it seems the 100zz is the successor of it ?
Thanks.
I did a "Best Power Yonex Racket" video a while ago and certainly compared them 2 together. You should watch that 👍
Is there a big difference between the new 99 vs the old 99? Many said the first generation of 99 is much more head heavy
Hellooo, did you mean between the orange and the purple 99?
@@CKYew yes thanks

Hi CK, is there any different between astrox 100 zz blue and 100zz kurenai With their play feel and the specs?
I find them the same. It’s just the paint job

Thinking of getting astrox 99 as second racquet to decide what will suit me!!
Pls suggest
Have you checked out my other racket reviews on my channel? There's plenty to choose from :)
The blue and red 100ZZ are the same, just different paintjobs. The 100ZZ will be head heaviest compared to the 77, Duora and Arc 11, but pretty fast.
@@CKYew I see. Would there be any steep learning curve should I transition to the astrox 100zz?
can you do a review of the new Yonex Eclipsion Z2 please!!! GREAT VIDS!
Not yet, hopefully soon 😬

Go with your usual tension would be a good place to start. Otherwise, try 24lbs before making a decision to go up or down during your next restring.
@@CKYew btw, what string and tension are you using on the 100zz?
Have you tried the 100zx?
I find I prefer that over the 100zz as it’s more user friendly vs the steeper learning curve with the 100zz
I’ve not tried the 100ZX yet. But the sample I have is a 3U model of the ZX which will make things very interesting 👍🏼😬
Hello, I have the same experience. It feels a little bit more HH compared to 100zz model, but less stiffer and easier to play with, less demanding, more forgiving. In 4U usable in single play as well.

How hard is using 100zz by your conclusion? Let's say I'm an intermediate player that play with Nanoflare 800 4u
The 100ZZ compared to the NF800 is a lot more demanding to play with. I found the NF800 to be one of the easiest rackets to play with. Have you seen my NF800 by the way? 😬😬
@@CKYew as i am a nf 800 player, wanna go to ax 77, which user friendly between those rackets ?
The NF800 is one of the most user friendly rackets I’ve come across! But the 77 will have more power tho
@@CKYew i can generate smash quickly with nf800, but the shuttle is become floating before it landed. So i need to confirm it with headheavy or my technique still low 😅
@@eWynHarun The 77 will certainly pack more punch compared to the 800 but certainly keep training :)
In terms of power and playability, is the astrox 88d better or the 77?
They’re both very good, only perhaps the 77 is easier to play with
feel-wise, which one have the best feel in the hand between ax77 and nf800 ?
I like the NF800, have you checked out my review for the 800?
@@CKYew yes i have, and now i really can't decide which one to choose between ax77, nf700 and nf800 😂 but my choice is leaning towards nf700 since you said that it is more flex in the shaft and larger sweetspot.
haha its tough deciding on one isnt it!
Which is best astrox 88d play or 77 play
For me100zz didn't feel that HH but was more towards balanced, maybe I am not professional enough to tell hahah, the one racket that I had no trouble telling if it was HH or not was the VZF2. I also felt that the 100zz had an insanely smooth swing, imo it felt easier to swing than the Arc 11 play, the swing of the Arc 11 for some reason felt heavier and less natural/slower. Currently looking to try the 99pro before deciding if I should get the 100zz or the 99pro.😄😄
💪
Which is the lightest 77 100zz or 99?
I am deciding between the 100 or the 77 which one should I choose
Both are good so it’s down to what you like
Thanks for the great review. I'm choosing between Duora Z Strike and Astrox 100 zz and was wondering if you had any views on either.
I have been using Z strike and really like it.. I'm considering buying a second racket and 100 zz looks really good so I'm confused.
Best way is to try the 100ZZ and see which you prefer best 😊
It would be sad if the new color 100zz doesn't have the glitter logo. From the pictures shown by Yonex, I do not see any glitter on it. Hopefully is just the camera's fault.
It would be very sad indeed 😭 WE WANT GLITTER😂😂
Why do the new Astrox 99's don't have that color?
Which racket has more power generation? The 100zz or 99
I think it’s down to the player. But I thought the 99 felt head heavier.
Which the best for attacking player between 100zz vs 88d pro ?

hey ck i was just wondering, recently i tried out the 88d pro 3u and found that it was really unforgiving. it felt like you had to hit exact sweet spot to get any power and if you didnt it lacked a lot. im not a beginner, in fact i would say im quite advanced and can generate a lot of racket head speed. is the 4u model like this too? did you find it unforgiving or was it super powerful. thanks

Why don't you get more of the Green LCW version instead of the Blue/Orange version?

Here my personal experience: (4ug5 for all, both 27 lbs ultimax 66 )
I rely on zf2 4ug5 for men’s double , good drive, good drop, power smash, but defense wise is less effective,
Bought 100zz 4ug5, first game I keep hitting the frame and it feels like the string is broken, but it wasn’t, tried out few more games and I began to luv it, good drive, good drop, good defense but so far unable to get smash timing right
The best thg on 100zz is it allow me react faster than zf2 , whenever I make mistake, I still able to perform a quick response hit ( I believe this is from the new tech they intro to this racquet )
I luv the boost cap as well, it does allow me to tap faster and more confidence
I hv an apacs nano fusion 722 power 6ug5 to play on less aggressive game, mainly for def and drop only, less effective on smash
Conclusion:
It give me flexibility of the apacs nano fusion 722 6ug5, able to response faster and swing faster, with better smash , but less smash power compare to zf2
ZF2 has sooo much power!!
I have played with it it's an amazingly great racket but I can't afford it
