Demo'd a whole slew of Yonex racquets over 4 sessions.. Astrox 77 3u, Duora 7, 99Pro 3u, 88D 3u, 77 4u, ZZ100 4u and finally the 88D Pro 4u. By a good chunk, the 88DPro 4u was the best racquet I have ever played with (On first impressions for me) It was strung at 27 pounds with BG80. Great control, great placement, backhand clears, smash, quick at the net. The 3U version seemed too slow at the net but did have a big Smash. Funny because the 4u 77 or ZZ100 did not give me those qualities. Also own a 77 3U, which I like.
88D is for me better for power. I do switch back and forth though. Sometimes I just feel like the 77 is the ticket for me. Just had surgery on my ruptured achilles tendon though, so they will be gathering dust till May 2024 @@aminulaiman6096

The biggest differences between these two models are the head shape and shaft. Astrox 88D Pro has a bigger head, stiffer shaft that gives you better control and less power. If your game is all about power, Astrox 100ZZ gives you strong power but because of the slimmest shaft in the Astrox family, you need to have a better control skill yourself. Hope this helps!

Hi, I've seen online the Astrox 88D Pro Tour version, are there any major differences in terms of performance between them? The price for the Tour version is much more appealing.
The Pro, Tour, and Game versions have different materials in the shaft (Namd vs Nanomesh Neo) and different T-joints. Sorry I personally have not had a chance to play with all 3 to compare yet. www.yonex.com/news/badminton/performance-enhanced-astrox-88-s-d-pro/

Thank you for your comment! The biggest differences between these two models are the head shape and shaft. If your game is all about power, Astrox 100ZZ gives you strong power but because of the slimmest shaft in the Astrox family, you need to have a better control skill yourself. I wouldn't say which one is better, it depends on what kind of player you are! Hope this helps!
The biggest difference I realized when testing the Astrox 88D V.S. 88D Pro is the shaft. The head weight is pretty much the same but because of the new shaft, the 88D Pro is much more responsive and easier to control. They produce similar power level, but definitely better and easier control on the 88D Pro. Hope this helps!
How does it compare to its little brother Tour Series. Paper spec base its quite similar with NAMD & all but just cone different, i wonder if they play different.
Tour shafts are hollow shaft and Pro shafts are solid shafts, which is similar to Astrox 100ZX V.S. 100ZZ. Solid shaft gives you more direct control and allows you to maneuver around easily, while hollow shaft gives you a stiffer feeling. Hope this helps!
Did you strung the 88s pro with the last cross string on A7 instead of A6? is that yonex recomendation? Don't you think the gap is too wide if at A7, that the string is very easy to break if the shuttle being hit near the top side of the frame? I personally strung last cross string at A6. Just wondering which one is the correct way. Thanks
Thank you for your comment! We strung it the way how Kevin Sanjaya strung his racket, his last string ends on A7. Yonex recommended the last string to be strung on A6, it really depends on individual but I personally thinks both work fine!
I had the 88D play as my initial racket, but when I got hold of the arcsaber 11 pro, I barely reach for astrox anymore. I guess, different strokes for different folks. Nice review, BTW.
honestly you cant compare a play model to a pro model regardless of which category but Astrox series is mainly build for smashers compared to arcsaber being more of a balance racket again as you said it comes down to the different players having different strokes but if you are a hard hitter I would suggest you trying the 88dpro once!
@@azwadasirulhoque518 I have to disagree, I have the 99 play and used the 99 pro and seem to prefer play over the pro for doubles and since bought 2 more 99 plays. I have 88d play and pro 4u and did have pro 3u aswell, honestly the pros are made with better materials but having good strings make the plays play fantastic and not much different to pro versions. I haven't tried other plays but my 99 and 88d and have 88s pro 88d pro 100zz and other top models like nf800 which is an absolute beast of a racket and really the point I'm making is a decent player would probably get more play out of the cheaper models than the pro models but yes when your game goes up several levels then you'll get more out of the pros
Based on my exp, cause i own 77 yellow and 88d pro rackets, 88d pro has similar feel to 77 shine yellow rather than 88s pro, being a head heavy racket (around 300mm BP), but the main differences is the stiffness of the shaft. Ax77 has medium to stiff flex, meanwhile ax88d pro is stiff. Ax88s is more an all round racket, and i think it has similar feel to arc saber 10/11.

Unfortunately that’s true. It just feels different compared to the previous model in terms of generating power. The name speaks for itself i guess (Pro) 😂
Thank you for your comment! If you compare a Nanoflare 700 to Astrox 88S Pro you will definitely gain more power from the latter. If you want a significant power difference from Nanoflare 700, I will recommend you go for the 88S Pro 3U Version or 88D Pro 4U. Hope this helps!
Astrox 99 is not very forgiving and it's much stiffer in the shaft, the head is way heavier. As for the Astrox 88 S&D Pro are more forgiving, and it has a very responsive shaft. Astrox 99 is a nice singles racket, and Astrox 88 Pros are both single/doubles game friendly.
