      I still use Gen 1 88s 3u (both a green/red and red/white version). I tried the Gen 2 but it didn't feel right, maybe just needed more time to acclimatise to it, but decided to stay on Gen 1. Did you try 3u or 4u? Interested to know your thoughts on the different weights if you were able to try them.

    • @howeezy
      @howeezy  5 месяцев назад +1

      When I used to play the Gen 1 88d, I used the 4U but even still found that to be a little heavy. I tested both 3U and 4U for the 3rd Gen but nowadays I feel that I prefer 4U rackets especially if they are naturally heavier or if they are head heavy@@new2melbtango

    Damn I just got the 88S pro wanting a bit more smash power. I am getting into the intermediate level only and was originally using something like a whip - nanoflare 700. I didn't want to go to the 88D because I fear I cannot handle its stiffness and end up not even being able to smash. But after listening to this, I hope I would still love the 88S when I use it to smash from back court. I mainly play doubles and as of typing this, I haven't tried my new racket yet.

    • @howeezy
      @howeezy  3 месяца назад +1

      The 88S Pro and 88D Pro are both the same stiff profile actually. I think either way you will enjoy the 88S Pro in terms of better attacking/smashing over the Nanoflare 700!

      @@howeezy I tried the racket. It was next level. Initially it felt off I didn’t have enough power but after warming up, it felt like a cheat. I could clear so high being out of position and all smashing are crisp. All net shot control is easy and consistent. I’d say drop shots are harder since it’s a struggle to be gentle.

    ngl, i would love to see how an astrox racquet similar to the astrox 100zz would perform if it was 10mm hh compared to 5mm hh; add the assist bumper; but also retain the shaft.

    Is there a risk of damage if your racket is rarely used but you left it strung? Or are there any tips and tricks for racket care that you rarely use?

    • @howeezy
      @howeezy  4 месяца назад

      Typically, no because the racket should only lose tension over time. Only caveat is if the racket wasn’t strung properly and there is disproportionate tension throughout the string bed. Then that could possibly cause the frame to break. I would say, just store the racket in a place away from extreme temperatures and away from sunlight and usually that should be good enough.

    Do you think the 88d pro is a good all-round racket for someone who plays both singles and doubles? I currently use a budget even-balanced racket and I am looking for a bit more power while not sacrificing too much playability. Do you think the 88d pro is the right choice? Also huge congrats on 5k subscribers!

    • @howeezy
      @howeezy  5 месяцев назад

      If you're looking for some more power, I think the Astrox series is the way to go. Yes, I think that the 88D is a good all around racket for all events. You can try pairing it with the regular Aerobite string, such a good feeling!

    • @jelugo77
      @jelugo77 5 месяцев назад +2

      be careful thinking that a head heavy racket will give you more power. Thats only true for beginners with poor technique or with top players in the world in singles have the time and can generate as much racket speed with these rackets than with a head lighter one...but that is not true for you and me. You racket speed will suffer and you smash (in game situations) will not be as powerful. For me, the Thurster F is the sweet spot. I have the 88d pro. have tried the 99pro and 100zz. None of these generated as much power (for me) than the thruster F. For a racket for singles and doubles, Id recommend trying the thurster F or 77 pro.

    • @R6ex

However, I would say that despite all the differences, the 88S Pro might be more similar because of the normal shaft size and regular head size.

    • @howeezy

      Thank you! It depends on what you are used to or what you can handle. Higher tensions are going to be harder to control and also tougher on your wrist/elbows if you are not used to it. But I absolutely am a advocate for high tensions. It's the only way to achieve crispy explosive shots off the string bed.

    Or any racquet would you suggest from Yonex other than these 2??
    Adding Astrox 88 play to this comparison because Astrox is singles focused series but there 88d and 88s are doubles focused. And 88 play might be blend of both 88s and 88d. So might be suitable for both Doubles and singles and both Attack and Defence.

    If you were to compare the 88d pro vs the nano flare 800 pro what would u recommend for doubles player

    • @howeezy
      @howeezy  5 месяцев назад +1

      Completely different. 88d pro is head heavy racket. Nanoflare 800 is headlight racket. So depends what type of doubles player you are. If you are looking for more power for attack then go with 88D, if you just want head light for quick reflexes then the Nanoflare 800 Pro

    • @howeezy
      @howeezy  3 месяца назад

      The 100zz is pretty heavy itself so if you jump to the 4U 88S Pro, it might be a bit light for you. I don’t think you will lose too much power but it will be a faster swing. Just weight for the follow through

      77 pro for allround.
      Get 88D Pro gen 3. Its different feel from gen 2. Easier to use like 77 pro with less stiff feel on shaft (bcz 2G flex force and thinner shaft)

      Right! Same stringer, knots, all strung with BG80, my two previous rackets were strung by him at 25lbs, and this 88s game I asked for 26lbs. The stringer said the frame can't hold the tension well and most likely I won't be satisfied with it.
