Bought AX88D Tour 4UG5 for doubles to replace my broken AX77.
    First impression:
    1. Shaft is between flex & stiff.
    2. Light when holding in hand but still feeling the weight towards the head.
    3. Wooden handle looks cheap after removing original grip (compared to my 1st version AX77, AX88D & AX99).
    4. Paint & exterior quality is equally good as Made in Japan.
    Performance:
    1. Good at netplay, rearcourt dropshot, rearcourt clearance, midcourt fast drive, defense lift and baseline to baseline shot.
    2. Lacking in rearcourt smashing. It requires more power injection to close the deal.
Conclusion: A very fast doubles racket full of punch at the midcourt. A good replacement for AX77.
Note: Performance may varies in different individual due to different technique and physical strength.

Thanks for your reviews and cool videos! I really appreciate that you have a special camera that records the flight of the shuttlecock and you're able to share the sound of the racket as you hit it. I know we play differently but at least by experience I can put together those info and the racket's data and see how the racket is like. That way I had more guidance to compare a racket when I borrowed people's rackets as it was easier to narrow down my choices. I've been off for 7 years due to injury. But playing with a Yonex racket for 30 years is hard to just forget then there's suddenly so much to choose from. I last played competitively with a MP 100 2U racket and after trying the current rackets, I still gravitated to a stiff one. My coach was surprised I opted for this pricey one but I got my timing right in a few days. I strung it with BG66UM tension 26 lbs. I might try another kind of string for more control. What's your recommendation?

Seriously considering to get myself the 88D Tour, heard many good reviews from my local racket shop seller/stringer(not 1 but 2 different shops) saying he heard many positive feedback compared to the 88D Pro. The main positive is that it is easy and nicer play with with good feel ("more accessible" I guess for the lack of better word). And this is from customer who bought both the Pro and the Tour together. But my question for you is how does 88D Tour compared to the 100ZZ Tour ? I had a dry swing test on both(4U) it kinda feels the same, and I note that the balance point of 100ZZ T is much higher. I am a big hitter myself and the rackets in my bag is the original version 88D 3U and 4U, and ever since I had my wrist injury last year I am went back to my old Kason F9 (got it out from storage hahahaha) due to flex and ease to generate power. I am now looking for a new racket which has some degree of flex and has good power. Thanks in advance.

    • @CKYew

I actually think you'll LOVE the 88D Pro! If you had no issues with the normal 88D then the Pro is just better in every way (in my opinion! haha). Easier to play with, easier power, faster. Win, win and win!
And yes, 100T feels much head heavier compared to 88D T.

I tested the AX 88D game and AX 100 tour (those were the only ones that I could test) and I liked the 88D game better. The reason for it is because I found it easier to smash with the 88D game and it was less demanding to use. @@dickymaulanahadinata2544 I genuinely suggest you to focus on your technique first for several reasons.
      1. Higher end rackets require you to have a proper power and technique in order to access their full potential. Without proper technique and power, it would be counterproductive as you would definitely struggling to use it and you probably would end up frustrated because your game is suffering from the advance racket.
      2. As a beginner, you don't know how your playing style would be. It is something that develop with your skill. It doesn't make any sense that you invest on a pro level racket just to find out later that it is not suitable with your playing style.
      3. Even after you are getting better, you probably don't really have to buy the highest tier racket (unless maybe if you play competitively or pro athlete). Chances are, low-mid or mid-tier racket (88D game or tour in this case) would be enough for most people. I, for example, have been playing for 20 years and consider myself an intermediate player (maybe in the edge between intermediate to advance). I use 88D game now and it serves me really well. While it is tempting to have pro level gears, it is a luxury, not necessity.
So try to avoid the GAS (gear acquisition syndrome). It is not always useful to have the latest and greatest gear without knowing what you really need. That way, you would be able to spend your resources wisely.

Thank you very much for the nice review. Since I haven't played head heavy rackets before, the 88D Tour or 88D play seems to be a nice option and a bit easier to handle for me.
