Just bought 2 Yonex Voltric 20DG strung with BG65TI TO 30lb.. absolutlely love the the racket and tension, suits my game perfectly and im only a bang average club player
For beginners, less string tension means more power, as they can't hit hard enough that higher string tension requires. For pros, they can hit the shuttle harder and gain little extra power from greater string tension. They might also be happy to trade some of that power for better control and of course they are also more consistently hitting the smaller sweet spot. So choose the correct tension for your level!
Aokla²...boh nerit bah
WELL it depends, as long as your tension is not too low, because if it is, you will feel that the shuttle is not travelling far enough for the amount of force you are swinging, giving you the impression that you are swinging very hard and shuttle not going farther than after the net - you will get this if you those cheapo rackets made in India or China on Amazon which claim to come strung at 20lbs, but you notice a sloppy stringing job, where it is more like 14-16lbs. For beginners, 20-22lbs, but you need GOOD strings and a GOOD stringer, if you buy from Amazon all those brands out there, it's almost certain you will get a sloppy stringing job, and if you notice shuttle not going as far as you expect despite the amount of force used, it's a sure sign your racket strings are too loose and need to be re-stringed - the fact Amazon and other online platforms allow for unscrupulous sellers and does nothing about it is criminal.
Just strung mine at 26lbs nanogy 98. Can't wait to try it.
Bro how is it then?
Is it good cuz I have also given my racket for stringing at 26 lbs
Of bg 65
@@kushthegreat4551 25 lbs is noice 26 should be too
so for those players who do not play professionally but are still very good i would recommend a 27-28 tension do not go for the 30 and go even below 28 if possible cause the string can break if you are a beginner
mine's 30-32
Can an ex-varsity player like me benefit from having a 29 lbs string tension?
I have been playing with a 26 in elementary school, 28 in high school up until now.
I dont play professionally but still kinda good. My tension is at 27 lbs
I’m semi pro rocking 26😅
Do not exceed recommended tension! Momota - 34lbs...
Because he knew he will be given a new racket for free 😁
To hit sweet pot consistently one has to play or practice often enough.
Momota be like: Recommended string tension who? I ain't listening to that
every sponsored player does that lol because yonex will just give them a new one.
They have special ones that are different from the commercial version
I'm using Yonex Astrox 38D my tension horizontal 27, cross 25. I'm a backcourt player.
Currently strung mine with bg66 force with 25 lbs & bg66 um with 28 lbs. Will try it soon
Pros string their rackets 30-38lbs. I string mine 30lbs and after playing a few games, it drops to 28, so around 2lbs drop. With high tension you barely need to use any power for good speedy shots.
Solid advice!
im just bought yonex voltric zforce 2 with bg66 brilliant 31lbs , is very nice and sharp to smash it and the sound is amazing
What about vz force 2
I find 20 tension perfect as I am still not having the timing so 20 lbs. Tension is more forgiving for me
try 24
Kevin Sukamuljo prefer 33-35lbs and Marcus Gideon 29lbs
this really helped!
I have a Yonex. 18i & a muscle power 22 plus
When using thinner cross strings (AB boost), how do I stop the string from curling and kinking when pulling them through. Thanks
Don't pull from the end... Pull from the middle and then pull from middle to end...
should i string main and cross same tension? if not, what should it be if i want to string my racket for 24lb?
26 for cross
Increase 10% for cross string
23 vertical string
25 cross string

Hi Yonex, Yonex Carbonate 8 & 9 aluminum frame, what's their maximum tension? Can I tension them between 20 ~ 21 pounds? Thxs.

The racquet can be strung with two different thick strings?(Straight with Thick and Cross with Thin) Is it a good practice?
Yes, Yonex Aerobite strings have a thin string for cross and thick for main. It has greater control and durability than conventional strings
@yonex Why does Yonex recommend to string the crosses bottum up for badminton rackets, as opposed to tennis rackets, which is recommended to string top down?
Due to design, bottom half of badminton rackets are usually stiffer and stronger. Tennis recommends the other direction because throat piece is a separate piece and for older rackets they might be weaker/prone to cracking/breaking. Modern rackets through doesn't matter as much, but most experienced stringers tend to follow the tested tradition. Cheers
@@themasterstringer Thanks for the reply. I also think the bottom part of the frame is stronger. I also think that you're building up stress on the frame in the direction you're going: so going bottom up you would build up stress towards the upper part of the frame, which is more fragile. I don't know if it is actually true about the stress building up on the frame. I string my badminton rackets always top down for 10+ years. My own rackets at 32 lbs. Did even 33/34 on my armortec500 and Yonex training racket. Never had any problems with frame breakage. I was just wondering why Yonex recommends bottom up.
@@ronnied8692 I see, it's also about the direction you're loading stress. The top of the frame isnt necessarily weaker, as in more likely to break, but in the sense that it's much more flexible. Its more difficult to maintain the original head shape going top down. Cheers
@@themasterstringer Hi Andy, when I started off stringing 35+ years ago, it was universally accepted that stringing the crossed top/down preserved the shape of the hoop. The throat end of the tennis and squash rackets have more material to withstand the incremental build up of dynamic tension from stringing the crosses.
Re Badminton - I have asked so many well known stringers and Yonex themselves, to explain in a scientific way the crosses need to be strung bottom/up. So far I have not managed to find one person who can explain things. They will say "thats whats recommended, Yonex say so, its what the top stringers do ..." but of course we need to understand WHY. All frame hoops will deform on installing the mains. Installing the crosses at the SAME tension will bring the frame back into its natural shape, the crosses loosing some pull tension due to friction contact with the mains. I now see that we should add 10% to the crosses tensioning. I just fail to grasp WHY. If people say it does this or that, then fine but please support that technique through science. Good stringers should be better informed by the manufacturers as to what actually happens to the frame throughout the stringing process. I run lots of stringing courses that vover ALL racket sports and I explain to students all the arguments for and against top/down, bottom/up and leave them to decide for themselves. I have been stringing badminton rackets for many years and I get some well batterd frames come in. They are generally prone to distortion and breakage around the 4 and 8 o' clock positions. So I make sure they are well supported there. Stringing bottom up in that situation can probably reduce any distortion that could add risk of breakage, so I am not against ANY direction, I just need to know WHY I am doing things. We are also doing lots of 50/50 stringing where we start the crosses in the middle, faster way to string and appears much less stress on the hoop. Liam Nolan Technical Director www.ukrsa.com
@@detectoruser Hi Liam, nice comment! I completely agree with you and also always wondered why (not) do +10% on crosses or why TD vs BU. In 2012 I spoke an official Yonex stringer and he said Yonex changed their advice a few times going from BU to TD and back again. Yonex recommends going BU (at least since 2010) and according to the stringer it was because they had less breakages that way. I forgot to ask if they mean during stringing (at high tensions) or during regular play. I string my rackets for 10 years TD at 32 lbs or more, but never had any issues with more breakages.
As for the +10% on crosses: I did that in the beginning but after I did a comparison I liked the feeling of M=C better. And I figured that the mains get tensioned extra because of the crosses bending the mains, so you would need +2 on the crosses. However, the crosses are shorter than the mains, so they don't need to be tensioned as high, or higher than the mains for an even stringbed. So these two theories even eachother out. I don't know if the latter theory is actually correct. However, I don't have issues with deformed frames and I like the feeling of it. As long the frame keeps its shape, people can choose whatever feels good.
I try to reduce the slack from friction by pulling a few times on the tensioned cross string before clamping it.
What is your prefered way of stringing badminton rackets? TD of BU? +10% or not?
Good stuff
i had been using 26 lbs. but since last month i ve been using 27/28. and im having shoulder pain. using high tension may cause shoulder pain?
Low tension strings have a bit bouncy effect, so it reduces the impact u receive while hitting the shuttle. Also it depends on how stiff your racket is. Higher tension could be the case since u need more power to make the shuttle reach the baseline. But after practice on the high tension, ur shoulder will become more strong to sustain such impacts.
Yes. That is because you cannot handle or tame a higher tension. Simple reason for that is, you are not hitting the sweet spot consistently, so you don't get as much power. So, people tend to swing harder to make up for that, resulting in more pressure on your shoulders and wrists when striking the shuttlecock harder. Get your swing speed higher and make your strokes more consistent (hit the same spot every time) and your shoulders will ache less. But if you can't, don't be afraid to just restring at a lower tensions, your health and performance is more important than a number.

What should be tension use for apacs finapi 212..my daughter 13 years old using it

The tension that suits you depends on your playing style and level.
Upto 24 lbs (If you're a beginner)
24-27 lbs (If you're an intermediate/club/zonal level player)
Over 27 lbs (if you're a professional/advanced level player)
Also if you hit a lot of smashes in your game, don't go over 25lbs even if you're a good player because a bigger sweet spot is desirable for that style of playing. If drop shots/slicing is more your thing, go for higher tensions.
Further, it's not compulsory that you cannot play a drop shot with lower tension, and you cannot hit smashes with high tension. However, you'll have a better game if you follow the tension that suits your game.
Also, don't go over recommended maximum tension for your racket, you may break your racket that way.

beginner hit with shoulder 22-24

@@cyrilleyong9615 i agree with most of this, but higher tension doesn't equal higher repulsion and power. you get more repulsion with a lower tension and you have more of a catapult effect and bigger sweet spot with a normal player. higher tension is for pros that can consistently hit the tiny sweet spot in the middle with a lot of power generated from the body and arm.
