I own a 2009 Pontiac g6 base model ecotech 365,000+ miles I have a timing chain replacement coming up soon but otherwise I cannot believe this thing still runs nearly perfect. Always starts always runs just needs to be properly taken care of like any reliable car. Did I mention I’m a delivery driver and I still use it daily. Awesome car same one from video but in white. Awesome review dude!

Yung Auti This made me feel so much better
. I have the same one same color just a 2010 the only thing is the a/c compressor has an issue where it works and blows cold for a couple of weeks then goes off for a couple of weeks. The pontiac g6 with the 3.5 v6 engine, is a very stout, enjoyable ride. Extremely reliable.
The steering from G5- G6 and impala, Malibu and other GM cars of years same have a manufacture recall. Get it fixed for free!
Also, the motor is EXTREMELY durable and reliable. But will leak oil up front because of a VERY EASY fix.
A $20-$50 Oil Filter Adapter Plate gasket is the common culprit as you approach 100,000 miles. Most complaining of the car have a G6 with over 100,000 miles.
This car is absalutely great on looks when done right, hasnt disappointed me yet. After owning a G5 and 2 G6s,
Steering needs to be replaced, the common wear items in suspension, and the oil adapter gasket.

One problem that seems to plague all years of G6s are the weak electrical connections, especially in the headlights. My father and I resoldered the connections and haven't had a problem at all
Other than that, I've only had to do normal bits of maintenance (oil changes, brake/rotor changes, tire rotations). Mine is a 2008 3.5L V6

FOR SOME REASON MY GAS MILEAGE IS HORRIBLE Especially using any fuel grade lower than 93
Recently sounds like a wheel bearing is going needs replaced. Starting to see small paint chips on two of the radio buttons. but overall pleased. Purchased at 34k 9/2017 and these are the only problems SO FAR 🙏🏾 oh and I hit a curb so the tire monitors read funny always says right front is low but it's actually right rear.

The issues it has is the turn signal stalk not returning or engaging properly, one of the washer fluid sprayers doesn't work, and the left rear door doesn't lock automatically. It is maroon red in color and has 162,XXX miles on it. The issues I have had with the car so far is the seat belt sensor went out making the seat belt light stay on in the dash even though I am buckled in. The trunk release button on mine also does not work like yours. The engine does consume oil, but slowly. There is also a sensor out in the engine that I can't remember what it's called. Might be the same one that went out on yours. Other than those things, the car runs and drives really good.

Got it right under 145,000 miles and now at 177,000. But out of all my vehicles over owned this is the WORST. It has recently became a death trap. In the past year I replaced both front hub assembly's, outer tie rods, power steering pump (going out again already), starter, water pump, and the whole brake system. Drive window doesnt roll down, passenger going out too, My sway bar links are broke, car doesn't like to start again after driving a short distance, have to give the car some gas same time as starting it, exhaust leak (big hole towards the front), hard time with acceleration, no power in the engine anymore. Changed the spark plugs and nothing changed. My car will jerk on me if I'm going around a left curve, and when accelerating between 35-40 my car jerks to the right if I let off the gas. Car shakes going 55 so I refuse to drive interstate.. I have two babies and every time I have to put them in that car I'm scared to drive it. But cant afford a new vehicle. I've had to tow this car multiple times due to leaving me stranded.. (2 days after having my son in august the water pump busted while driving) I will never own another G6.

I have the 2006. The power steering recall was pretty rough for me. thankful the dealer fixed it.... after nearly getting into an accident because my steering wheel locked up on on the freeway..... sadly that's is the primary issues I've had with it. freeway driving even after the fix and about 20k miles in on the repair... it still shakes and raddled at higher speeds. my model has cruse control although the issue with having it is the button placement. It constantly turn on which is a little annoying. I haven't been able to identify if its my hand placement on the wheel or if its just turning on on its own. I also have the issues with the drivers seat. I'm having an emissions issue and need to find out what the cause is to pass smog. I'm hoping its just an o2 sensor, but after having a mechanic look into it, diagnosing and replacing it as the fuel pump they broke when taking off and that not being the issue.... they pretty much did a bypass so it could passed and claimed they fixed it. but shortly after the obd scanner came right back with the same error codes. that has been more than disappointing because I'm coming up on another smog. I will look into what you mentioned though about the flex pipe. I ran into an issue with the fuel filler neck breaking and not even the dealer having anything but after market parts to replace it in my area, and it breaking again with those parts, still functionality but broken none the less. The engine itself seems to be doing great though. My biggest issues has been not having my own garage to work on it myself and multiple mechanics including the dealer not having the best luck in fixing it and having to come back again and again. I'm a little over 210,000 miles and bought it at 90k. love the car and would have loved to keep it for another 100k or more but the electronic power steering issue coming back that quickly has got me in the market for a new car. thanks for the video so much! its kind of helped me make a decision on for temporary fixes in the mean time, knowing that these are just common issues for this make and model.

I have a 2007 3.5L GT, bought it new and now has 164,000 miles. Problems thus far: Had to replace headlight sockets twice. Panoramic roof is currently broken, will always open, won’t always close. The power sun shield has no tension and hangs loose. The drivers seat back is broken like yours. CD player will not eject cd without using another CD as a pry bar to get the other out. Paint is flaking off most used radio buttons. Trunk release button on driver door just stopped working. Cruise control works intermittently(drives me nuts as my daily work commute is 84 miles of highway driving). My driver side sun visor falls off and hits me in the face when driving over train tracks(I cut it off). My air bag light on dash has been on since car hit 100,000 miles. Now passenger airbag light stays off when passenger riding in car. Drivers seat belt light and dinger goes off when driving with seat belt fastened. Transmission went out at 120,000 miles, had it rebuilt. Just replaced all 4 shocks/struts, lower control arms/ball joints, sway bar end links(for the second time), tie rod inners, tie rod outlets. Rocker panels are rusting through. Other than that, it’s been a great car and consistently gets 24 miles per gallon average.

    4. 3rd gear

I’ve got a 2008 Pontiac G6 bass model with the 2.4 EcoTec engine and 4 speed automatic trans. The car currently has 98k miles on it. It’s probably one of the last GM vehicles I’ll ever own. I bought it a year ago with 78k miles on it. I’ve had to replace the cam sensors due to a timing issue and rough idle. It ran good for a few miles and started running rough again. I took the valve cover off and inside I noticed that the timing chain guide had broken loose and the chain was running along it. I immediately stopped driving it until my appointment to get the timing chain replaced. $800 out the door. Not too long after that, the transmission speed sensor started giving erratic readings making the speedometer jump around and the transmission wasn’t shifting right. I had to limp it back home, pick up the sensor, and replace it myself. The electronic power steering would randomly throw a code and stop working (replaced under recall). The back door locks don’t actuate electronically anymore, both locking mechanisms need to be replaced. The truck button stopped working, due to corrosion. I fixed that myself. The A/C barely works and a recharge didn’t make any difference so I’m guessing the compressor is just about shot. If I run it, I end up with 3 inches of water in my back seat floor due to a design flaw with the condensation drain under the car.
Comparing to my 2000 Chevy Tahoe, I’ve owned that since 2017 and bought it for $1150 with 315k miles on it. It currently has 370k miles on it and all I’ve had to replace was the power steering pump (original), and the thermostat (original). Everything else has been regular maintenance and wear items. Anyway, if you’re thinking about buying any GM vehicle built around the time of the bailout or after, turn around and run.

I also forgot to add, the steering intermediate shaft on the G6 is completely shot and about to break. Apparently GM didn’t find it necessary to recall this even though it could cause someone to get killed. A quick google search proves that this is a common problem. Supposedly Dorman May have recalled the part and will reimburse the dealer for the cost of the repairs. I have to call them soon and verify before buying the intermediate shaft and replacing it myself.

Own a 2009 G6 base model. CD not working, swaybar, outer tie rod end changed. Recently loosing power and accelerating slow, upon check the guy gave me a $1400 fix. Problem is in variable camshaft timing solenoid or/and spark plug. I am also wondering a bad exhaust would cause the same too.

In my old G6 I sold, my AC quit, transmission was awful, power steering went out, blinker was broken, paint was chipping inside and out, cruise control stopped working. Overall I’m glad I sold it but definitely got my use out of it.

You can get cheap aftermarket cruise controls. I have the same model, and I have an aftermarket one. It works great.
