Thank you for recording this. I lost my download somehow and didn't have the instructions with the pattern I bought from Elizabeth Suzann. I love watching a video to in place of reading! One comment I thought was really CRITICAL here though is that the pocket corners should NOT be trimmed before sewing onto the side panel. this is especially true for beginners. It's too easy to clip in too far and make the pockets too narrow. Should possibly be trimmed after sewing them in. THANKS AGAIN!!!!
I learn more from visual instructions, especially when your techniques are simpler yet just as effective than the written ones. For example, there were five pages of instructions for the waistband. You were able to show us how to sew it in minutes. Keep up the good work!
You made some thing that seems so complicated so very doable. Thank you for your thoughtful presentation and your relaxed approach. Something to emulate.
@@debbielee2951 You will be able to notice there's 1/2" seam allowance as seeing the cut line and sew line on the pattern!😊 Thanks for watching my video, Debby!
Thank you so much for this tutorial!! Its wonderfully clear. I think the sides of the pocket should only be trimmed if we want the pocket to sit flat / flush with the side. If we want the look where the pockets stick out a bit at the hips then we shouldn't trim the sides of the pocket.
Hello Mel thanks for watching my video! Considering the original look of Clyde Pants, trimming the edges will help to replicate the original fit. (I've mentioned about side panel pockets in my Gypsum Skirt video and making the pockets flat looked much better as it pops up a bit because of the gathers from the waistband. Hope it makes sense!) My video is all about replicating the original version! 😊
I agree. These pants are supposed to be slim fitting with ease in the pocket opening being part of the design. My understanding is that those sides are not intended to be trimmed away in the made to order original version.
@@SewingTherapy I really liked the slim profile of these pants - so trimming the pockets worked well for me. I would have been disappointed otherwise. I am so grateful for your easy-to-follow tutorial, Sara! My pants came out perfect!!!
Thank you for sharing your order of construction, so helpful! I think you used 5/8" SA in most instances, I plan on using 3/8" SA. I like the silhouette you created by trimming away the pocket sides.
It really is therapy watching your videos, so calm and relaxing. I have got the download for the pattern but it won’t open so I haven’t been able to print it.
Lovely and easy to follow tutorial! Would you mind putting a list up that has all the stuff you need to make the pants? Like the amount of fabric, elastic etc.
Thank you! It's hard to tell the amount of fabrics and elastic as it's totally up to your size! With my size (size 4 short : you can check your size at elizabethsuzann.com/pages/sizing-guide) I used 1.5 yards in 62" fabric. (The length of the pants + the length of pocket panel + extra a few inches)
What a fantastic pants tutorial! I am eagerly awaiting the drop of the patterns on the ES site! In the meantime, do you have any plans to make the Palisade Pants by Paper Cut Theory by any chance?
Thanks so much! I rarely wear pants so I am not sure I will make any other tutorials for making pants but I will consider the Palisade once the time comes! 😊
Hi! Thank you so much for your peaceful and great videos, you're a great teacher! I wanted to know if you will make a video about the black top you're wearing at the end it's so nice! or where can I find the pattern? thank you again!
Thanks for watching my video, Christine! I would love to make a tutorial video of my top if the pattern exists, but unfortunately it's not my memade piece! Let me know if you find something similar!😉
As always, lovely and calming... I will be making these pants! Did you make that beautiful black top you're modeling these in at the end? If so, could you share the pattern details?
Great tutorial - I'm using it right now as I sew the Clyde Pants. Can I ask what blouses you are wearing at the end of the video? Are they store-bought or a sewing pattern? They are gorgeous and a perfect pairing with the trousers.
Thanks for watching! 😊 One of them (black one) is a store-bought from Korea and the other one with high-low hem is Harper Tunic I just made for the other tutorial video! I think ES pieces pair so well together/each other!
Will you be releasing a video for the Georgia Tee? I’m a beginner sewer and can’t quite get the sleeve cuffs on mine to look like the original. I would love to see how you approach it!

Hi Sara, I purchased the pattern and did my toile. It fit fine but I would like to shorten the front rise by about 2”, and increase about half an inch to the back crotch curve. Could you help how to accomplish these? Thank you!
Hi! Rather than trying to explain with words, I will leave a link of the video about how to alter crotch length. Hope this video could help! 😊ruclips.net/video/-jnVVhuoh7Y/видео.html
I’m wondering if the pockets were designed to have extra room and not sit flat (which would require trimming off the sides like you showed). Are they too baggy if sewn as cut?
Did you use a straight stitch for the whole project? I’ve never made pants but use a fake overlock stitch when sewing other garments. Would that be okay as well?
There was a size chart on ES site before they close their website! I saved a screenshot of it on instagram story highlight. Please come and check! instagram.com/yoursara_k

I didn’t like the hanging look pockets. Actually it turned out great, not tight at all. You don’t need to follow every step of my instructions if you don’t like it.

I used bio washed cotton linen blend in Sand! 😊

1/2", 3/8" or 5/8" ?
I used 3/8" 😊

Why trim the pockets? The ES instructions do not do this, and it will make the pockets too tight to put your hand in.
