But will they let you play any of this at the guitar store when you go BUY a guitar? No. DENIED! Just like stairway to heaven at the NAMM
That’s a flamenco guitar, not classical, yes?
We don’t deserve that transition from Fade to Black to To Live Is To Die. It’s too good for us.

I feel ya, dude..The beautiful sound of metallica played on an acoustic just gets to you..And, truly, it's inspiring to see and hear how he plays... I wish I could play like that later on in my guitar journey... :) 🤘
Hearing these songs played on the acoustic guitar really makes you appreciate how well written they are.
I've found that there is something in a well crafted song, that it can seemingly be played in multiple genres and sound natural.
ABSOLUTELY!!!Amazing works of art.
very well said. To be able to incorporate a symphony (S&M) into their music illustrates your point. The depth and breath of the melodies and riffs are poetic.
just wait until you hear music arranged for the piano..
It's a classical, but yeah.
Can we just take a moment to take in the fact that he did this all in one go.
hes played each one hundreds of times before this i bet
Sure. But none of these are particularly difficult to play. Nonetheless, a terrific job and very cleanly recorded with an excellent guitar tone.
And the transitions are amamzing
I cant believe this isn't the top comment
Could be he did each track then ghost played while they where playing
You know the metal is good when it holds up on acoustic
inspectrgajit most music is the same way
That’s my whole theory of music writing
Fact

Classical guitar
The best thing about metallica is that they aren't just about being metal and thrash only, they also have a beautiful clean and harmonious sound
Unlike slayer who are brilliant musicians who write music that is utter crap
@aodhanodonnell2148 slayer isn't crap, just extreme thrash different shit. I would say though their music makes ZERO sense. They preach that Christianity is nothing but a lie and is incredibly reckless but the singer is a practicing catholic like huh😂😂
The fact that you did it all in one go so clean is amazing
Thanks!! :)
I had a moment of realisation with this video , how blessed my generation is for the internet and all the amazing artists that share their work for free. Thank you
Awesome
Ikr its amazing how much we have :" ) Praise God! and Remember, never forget how dark or hard things get, You ARE important
Absolutely! I grew up with Metallica..
I was feared being a metal in old times 😉😂
yes!
that is actually sad that you consider yourself lucky for money perspective. Earning it is far more valuable. I used to go to my local music shop and buy K7's upon covers until I found a jewel.
The fact that all of these songs can be played so beautifully on the classical guitar with no effects is a testament to the awesome musicality of Metallica
Hetfield's feel for melody is undeniable. I believe that is one key reason why Metallica went to the stratosphere above the others - There are more technical thrash bands - but they could not hold up like this with a single instrument and no effects or band to support. Hetfield is a poet. True art is timeless and makes a way for others to join in. These tunes stay with you and offer consolation over and over again. Kudos to the player - 1 take, clean, both feel and technicality are there.
And they abandoned the melodic music that we relish. Now they just make songs they can easily play live
James is a beast of a musician.
Allot of the melodical intros were written with Cliff Burton being the main composer they stopped after he died. Not because they got lazy. Burton was a master composer .
@@paulflynndoyle87 Metallica never stopped writing melodic intros, where are you getting this from? It's like you haven't listened to anything they've done post-Master of Puppets. Cliff's contribution was massive but let's not pretend like most of Metallica's melodies and harmonies weren't written by James.
Finally!! Someone put that feeling into words
you've no idea how many times i listen to this. whenever im having a tough time, bad day or just to chill and relax. on top of that its slowly building up the desire to pick up a guitar and start learning to play.

Me too
You hear “One” and think, “oh, this is simple and easy” and then.....no
There’s quite a bit that can be learned by a beginner but it’s when you start getting deep in the song is when it gets complicated, I’m a beginner so therefore I play like half of the song lol 😂 😅but most of the parts that he is playing you can get, Im learning from the tabs app, helps a lot
It actually is pretty easy, except for the solo hahaha keep trying and youll get It in no time
Its not that hard acually. The first riff is wery to learn but the solo gets a bit more complicated. It took me a about a year to learn the whole intro on the song and i practiced like 10 minutes a day or less.
I got to be honest, One is not that hard, the hardest part is just the last solo and a little of the the solo after the second chorus, the riff is just strange to get put like 2 weeks and almost everyone can pulled it out i think
It is for a few seconds
After watching this a few times over the last 48 hours. I've dusted off my old guitar, tuned it up and started playing again. Thank you sir.

Well these aren't metal riffs just because metallica plays them lmao.
@@wannabeserpento99 but there many clean riffs on Metal songs. And we have the power ballads from Metal/hard Rock bands...
Clean and acoustic are part of metal
Yeah, I've heard this argument so many times. But it's clearly from people that have never actually listened to metal. I know some is, but bands like Metallica and Iron maiden are actually very melodic. People just assume all metal is death metal. Stoooooopid :D
To Live Is To Die is even today still a dilemma to me, for I cannot comprehend the fact that simple humans can compose something like that.
You're so right, it's like an epic travel thru the intergalactic space, cruising near the flames of the sun, falling into black hole and surfing planets rings. Its beyond.
Probably my favorite Instrumental from them honestly, It's such a beautiful piece.
That's fvcking true! What a huge satisfaction to be able to play it.
Capitanul this was the last song Cliff Burton composed. May he rest in peace and God bless him
The one who did compose it had a bus fall on him twice in Europe in the mid 1980s his name was Cliff Burton and he will never be forgotten
This has inspired me when you uploaded it. Picked up guitar first time , practiced for almost 8 hours each day , fingers bled got blisters still didn't stop. And now I can play every one including solos. Thank you so much man , I owe you.
Great to hear! Congrats on all your hard work
That transition from fade to black to to live is to die is just beautiful.
Classical music was the metal of its day, so the fusion of heavy metal with stringed instruments, especially classical guitar, has always made sense to me. Incredible talent, so relaxing.
The accuracy to every single note is incredible. Amazing player
"To live is to die" is such a masterpiece
u know mans is a real gangsta when he pull out the fake tattoo sleeve
Literally didn't notice until now. I can't unsee this anymore.
Classical guitarists wear sleeves like this. Sweat is bad for the guitar. The fact that it looks like a tatoo totally is gangsta though. 😉
it’s a guard my dude
@@doctordiv oooh i see. Thanks for telling me.
That guitar likely means a lot to him and he's taking good care of it. He's got a sleeve on that arm for the same reason he has a towel in between the guitar and his chest, to protect the guitar. Sweat and skin oils damage the finish over time which leads to damaged wood. Judging by this guy's talent, he's playing that guitar very often, so over time could mean just a few years or less before needing restoration.
I just started playing acoustic guitar at age 46… I hope I get good enough to play like this. This was great! Thank you!
You'll get there, all it takes is time and effort! I've been teaching my dad for the past two-three years and it's great bonding.

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of hearing master of puppets. The whole thing was great man I think you’re my new guitar inspiration
I’m honored!! :)
I came across at the master of puppets on the grand piano, covered by young lady in spacy boots, I forgot her name, but find her on youtube...amazing!
I agree, so beautiful
The intro to james solo, the harmony part of Kirk and james interlude and James solo itself are probably one of the most beautifully written pieces of music I have ever heard.
One of a kind! Reminds me of a guy I saw playing once when I was 12. So picked up a guitar and never looked back. I'm now 40 years old and God and my guitar have been there for me though suicide and depression. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for this 🙏
You’re welcome! I can relate to your words in many ways.
Related AF thanks for this video
I’ve probably listened to this video at least 50 times in the last week. It’s my new go to when I’m settling down for the night, or just need to think. Last weekend, I bought an acoustic guitar for the soul purpose of learning to recreate this around a campfire with my friends, or on a deployment with my bro’s. Thank you for this masterpiece man, god bless you.
That is so awesome bro! I’ve never received a higher compliment :) Thank you!
Master of puppets takes on a medieval feel when played on that guitar
sounds like you'd hear it in a tavern in Skyrim
Most of their songs have that same sound on acoustic. That mid evil / Bach sound
Ive always thought the same about To Live is TO Die.... sounds midieval.
A lot to do with playing close to the neck and the nylon string rolling as well as reciprocating.
And he's a great player.
Music doesn't come from instruments.
Cliff Burton was a huge Bach fan as well as many other artists so it does make sense
the reason why i fell in love with metallica was their acoustic and clean guitar fragments of music..later, when i grew up and started playing clasical guitar i realized how rich those pieces were considering none of them had classical training..so melodic and full of emotion.
Man you really take good care of your guitars. No oil buildup on the fretboard, microfiber between body and belly, and a sleeve on your picking arm. It's cool to see people out there respecting their equipment so much. Also, you play well. Great job!
Thanks so much! Occasionally I put a nick in the finish from playing, but besides that I try and keep them fresh!
i watched this many times but only just npticed the towel between his arm and the guitar
I’ve been playing guitar for 43 years and have been around the music industry for just as many. I have NEVER seen an artist take so much care as he does to keep from scratching his guitar. NEVER
It took me two years, but I finally discovered this video. Everything that I would like to compliment about this video has already been said (seamless transitions, one take, beautiful 100% accurate playing). You, sir, have earned a new subscriber
Thank you for your words Bill!

that transition from fade to black to To live is to die was priceless
Just had a shitty day. Put this on repeat and it really mended something in my soul. Thanks for this beuatiful mashup. You are amazing.
Acoustic any will do it pretty much but this is definitely soothing. That's exactly what I'm doing now. "Chilling" 😂
I can genuinely say I usually never comment but as a Metallica fan this is beautiful
Amazing. What makes Metallica a band for the ages is how so beautifully their songs cross over to classical music.
As a teenager, I used to play this part of 'to live is to die' over and over again until my mom/brother/roommate stepped in and asked, why are you crying
Most underrated Metallica song imo. Love it so much.
I used to do that, too.
I still do, but I used to too.
Fingerpicking on Nothing Else Matters was just too good
Still listening to this in 2020! Love Nothing Else Matters soo much that I took up guitar a couple years ago and hoping to be able to play it someday. My friend said it took him 5 years to be able to play that song at a decent level. Thanks for your beautiful music!
The first four notes I played back in 2018 was Nothing Else Matters. Still playing it today to master it. What a beautiful song.
The way this guy falls into to live is to die from fade to black is pure class absolutely amazing got back into guitar cause of guys like this and soren madson
The intro to Sanitarium is so beautiful, always brings out some emotions in me
Its crazy how all this beautiful sounds come from someone and make you want to cry or they fill you with happiness its insane to me. I love what metallica has done and that people like this guy were able to pick it up and make it even more beautiful. Honestly one of my favorite videos I’ve seen and i just have to say thanks for making this and for letting people hear how beautiful music can be
This playing is so full of feelings, playing the right notes can be hard enough (and with these arrangements it is) but to play them so passionately and transmit so much emotion is legendary.
Couple that with the fact it's all in one take, and this masterpiece of a video is the result. Also that transition from fade to Black to live is to die caught me off guard entirely.
Man hopefully I can play like this man right here one day.
Absolutely gorgeous, very well done. It also shows how incredible a song writer James Hetfield is.

Fade to Black....
just beatiful
I have been a Metallica Fan all my life... I cannot play a stringed instrument, due to hand issues, but I have huge respect for those that can...and the older I get, the more I found a love for acoustic covers, realized that the "mixing" done in the studio leaves out a lot of details we miss...and the acoustic gives a different sound...much like a Tube Amp vs. a Solid State Amp. This is AWESOME! I could literally listen to the full songs acoustically all day, I know all the words anyway...LOL...Its easy listening while working...
I used to be a fan of Metallica, but my music taste changed a lot as I got older. I even used to play every single one of these songs when I was a teenager, but now I cant remember how to play any of them.
But, man, you've just made me look (or listen?) differently to the same songs I've heard and played literally thousands of times. You've just brought my older self closer to the "dumb kid" I used to be, as I normally picture that time. And made me remember all the good moments I had with Metallica's music.
These songs are beautiful, and you managed to make them sound even better. Congratulations for your skill, and dedication. We can see and hear your passion for music. Thank you very much for sharing your talent.
