If you’ve ever shot with Fujifilm cameras, you are likely familiar with their film simulations. They allow you to shoot jpg images with a baked-in creative look. The newer Fujis come preloaded with simulations like Eterna, Nostalgic Neg, Astia, and Provia, but they also allow you to create your own custom “recipes” for future use.
A strong community of film simulation creators and shooters has grown up around this feature. I’ve seen a lot of RUclips videos and websites that offer free recipes and discuss the fine details of how to achieve certain looks with different sensors. When I had my x-t1 and x100f, I enjoyed using the content produced by Fuji X Weekly. They have a website that receives regular updates and an app that does a beautiful of showcasing and explaining their custom simulations.
One thing I didn’t realize until after I purchased my Ricoh GR III is that Ricoh offers users a lot of customizability in this regard. In fact, the same individual who created the Fuji X Weekly app also created the Ricoh Recipes app for GR I, GR II, GR III, and GR IIIx users.
