35mm at f8 means with a subject at 2m distance you’ll have everything from 1,44m to 3,25m in focus. You should read up on hyperfocal distance. This really helped me with focusing correctly.
One thing to note is the lack of a pop-up flash. The one on the GRII is absolutely incredible and probably the main reason I didn't upgrade (also positive film is a tad better on the GRII). I've had it for 5 years now and haven't got any issues, even shooting in light rain. 3 batteries is a must if you shoot over 1000 pictures in a walking session in a day. But I'm pretty envious of the HDF version. Maybe the GRIV isn't that far away, who knows!
Nice man. Thinking of picking a GRiii up tomorrow. Haven't shot anything for a few years and my GRii is dead. Wanna start taking photos again I think. Thanks for this!
Some nice shots, man! Congrats on the GR! Btw you can delete multiple photos at once, while in the preview mode scroll the top/front wheel once to the left you'll be able to chose and delete multiple or even by folders sorted by date. Cheers!
You probably already know this but you can also batch process the raw files. Similar process with delete, instead of precessing delete, press menu and raw development and select multiple
Hey , Great Video, and also really well pictures, but i have a question, i am a beginner ,do you think the ricoh is as much fun as the lumix rx100 m2. I consider buying the lumix or the Ricoh(maybe also the Sony rx100), but i think the lumix is maybe more fun (also because of the view finder) I don’t know if that’s true so i want to ask you. The Image quality is of course the most important aspect so Is the image quality of the ricoh much better that the lumix or the Sony? I also want to put it in my pocket as an everyday camera, and use it mainly for streetfotographie. Videography is also something which is important for my but picture Quality and the “film look” of the ricoh is really something I don’t want to miss. Thanks for your Help, keep going!!!
Nice video. Just an fyi - I’ve got the x100vi and while I usually carry 2 spare Fuji batteries, seems 1 extra is enough after extensive use in one day.
Loves your video! However please help me decide between ricoh gr iii and fujifilm xm5!! In terms of compact, i think both are quite small. But which one is better for beginner like me? Deep down i’m a fan of fujifilm but after seeing many talks about ricoh, i seem to like it 😅
Good video, not sure I agree with you about the 28mm being an easier composition. In my experience getting a great image with that broader sweep is more of a challenge! But if we were all built the same and thought the same the world would be a boring place!
What I meant is that 28mm is an easier composition for someone who just wants to use it to capture random things (friends, quick candid moments, etc) and doesn’t care about the artistic side of it. 28mm lets you just point and shoot with more ease and you’ll probably get what you want in the frame. I’d compare it to when people take normal iPhone shots at 24/26mm (if that makes sense). Definitely tougher to get a great creative image with a 28mm if you're using for an artistic intention
@@matsefcik Ahh I see where you are coming from, greater depth of field. I guess I forget that for many younger generations the 28mm being on the smartphone, is the view that they find more intuitive, my generation if you bought a camera and a “standard lens” it would be in the 40~55mm range. Probably the reason I have just ordered the iiix to go with my iii !
Just subbed bro. How do you like the GRiiix? I was thinking of picking up a brand new GRiii Diary Edition in 2 weeks. Stoked to get it. But i'm still on the fence of whether or not to get the Diary for the 28mm or just get an X for the 40mm. I don't shoot street much, mostly portraits and lifestyle but I already have the A7Riii for that. I wanted to pick this guy up for more of an EDC. My heart is telling me to go for the 28mm but the more I watch videos on both, I like the look of ports on the 40mm. HELP lmao
I’d run with the 28mm if you’re mainly going to use it as an EDC camera, and just continue doing portraits on the Sony. 28mm could be cool for some environmental portraits as well
@@matsefcik I appreciate the response bro! That's what I was thinking too. I would just be getting the GR so I can have something to take flicks of without lugging my Sony around
At 1,5m and f8 pretty much everything will be in focus because of dof distance. Ricoh has that nice green indication in snap mode. Currently using very first ricoh gr from 2005 and it’s snap focus works well at f5.6 (and you cant select distance, it’s always 2m or so)
@@matsefcik just checked - 1.5m and f8 its for classic Ricoh 28mm lenses (Ricoh GRII and GRIII) for X version it’s 3.5m and f9 (this grips everything from an 5-6 ft to infinity) also there is easy way to change those distances on the go - front wheel+macro switch.
Can select multiple image to delete and no need to open on/off button... Hold the playback button, and turn left the front dial, then click the fn button.... Then can touch screen or selete image u want to delete... Hope it can help u😊
Funny enough I got noticed using my Ricoh in the first day with my Griii but almost never get noticed with my x100v. I ended up returning mine after a few days(just out a video our about why on my channel). Fun camera but ultimately for the price it wasn't worth having since I already had the x100v.
Would love to try one but stories of build quality issues with the toggle wheel and dust ingress keep me away...... such a shame they haven't dealt with these ongoing problems

For those who've commented telling me how to delete multiple images at once, I appreciate y'all
Welcome to the Ricoh community. I’m heading to Spain for a photography trip and I’m challenging myself by only bringing this camera.
Thanks! Hope it goes well

Glad you're enjoying it man! Dig the shots you've gotten so far. That guy reading the book next to the car was a great find.
Appreciate it dude! Would love to be dual-wielding the 28mm and 40mm in the future haha

The less batteries you need to bring with you, the better
Nice video man, glad I found you... SUBSCRIBED ! Been on the fence about the Ricoh for a long time.. You might have just pushed me.
When my Ricoh GRIV 35mm camera died, I got one of these and couldn't be happier. Love how you're using it. Great shots!
Awesome shots and camera view. Can you share where you ordered the square adapter. I've been looking, couldn't find one exactly like that. Thank you.
It’s a prototype but you can find them on Squarehood
