Literally the best airbrush and essential information source on RUclips that I can relate too as well as others I hope. Thank you for your time making these guides, really helping me progress with my airbrushing 👍
I've said this to many Old x-ray films work great as stencils. It's like mylar but it's made to withstand chemicals. Just in case you use harsh paints or thinners.
I cut a "Luffa" slice, I ironed it flat flat, and sprayed it with clear fixative... works like a magic. Just a thought. I have a professional Vinyl cutter and drew up my shields in corel draw and then cut it...
@@theartworkshop Again, I'm impressed with your knowledge and you putting it out there for free. I know my stuff and you are doing an excellent job mate. I'm learning so much on your channel. I was "sticker-shocked" at the prices of retail masks & shields - I knew there had to be a DIY alternative. Thanks!
I went and bought what you suggested to create skin texture really worked amazingly as I’m just starting my portrait journey with airbrushing just want to say thanx v much for all the time you give to help people all for free and high is rare in this world
Great to hear- you are very welcome! Keep on painting and don't be hard on yourself if a painting doesn't go the way your hoped. You'll always learn something painting or drawing. Thanks for the kind words and I wish you nothing but the best
Thank you v much and each portrait is getting better and better thanx to all your advice on your RUclips channels looking forward to your next master piece 👌🏽 greetings from Northern Ireland 🙏🏼
How about using thicker paper and then coating it on both sides with some kind of acrylic spray or lacquer to make it more durable? Anyone have any ideas what to spray or soak it in? There has to be some way to plastify it so it becomes more durable.
I am investing in a cricut. Thanks for the informational video. And thanks for showing us how to make the skin texture stencil. That technique is dope bro.
I was wondering if you've ever tried to do super complex print outs with Cricut? I was going to buy it and print out my own! I have so many distressed and grunge and painting splatter and brush textures on my computer I was going to print out for stencil textures....then I realized if it would have issues? Or should I try a different material? Not sure tho 😅
I haven't but would love to try it someday. There are some pretty awesome tutorials on the cricut here on youtube. From my experience a thinner material is so much more forgiving. It can cut mylar, but would be impossible for advanced cut outs. Paper or light cardstock would probably work pretty well for that.
Great lesson! I plan to get some mylar sheets and a soldering iron soon, but I got a question. Knowing paper deteriorates over time, would it help covering with gesso, especially if it's stock paper? I've got a lot of waste of money government junk mail stock cards I can use haha, so that's not a problem. I'm just curious if gesso will make it last longer.
That's a pretty awesome idea. A paper shield will actually last a pretty long time if it's heavy card stock. I'm sure that some gesso on both sides will add to it's durability. When dry maybe place it under some heavy books over night to flatten it out. Love that you're recycling old paper to make something useful out of it as well!
@@theartworkshop lol, that's one way of recycling "vote me, he's a bad guy" paper :) And yes, a good flattening with a book or two with gesso on both sides will do great! Thanks for replying, mate!
thanks man. No, I have nothing to do with him. I only use the paint that he makes (createx illustration) and found out about him from seeing his name on the bottle. I come from an art school background- bachelors in art in college and a masters in fine art (MFA) after that.
Great videos but i find it hard to follow your speach because you dont stop for a breath, especially when you said soldering iron, i had to play back a few times.
Nice video. I like that you get right to the point, no mindless babbling and explain things well. And no stupid “music”. Thx
