dunking is a difficult task for us who aren't 6'10/genetically blessed, u gotta be consistent with lifting weights, and what sucks is that your body has a limit to how much it can jump, meaning it's unproductive to practice for hours and hours a day, which will increase risk of injury and preventing you from practicing and strengthening for weeks. You can only realistically jump like 20-30 times w/ max effort in 1 day. Another issue I had was knee pain which was rly bad, which I had for half a year till i did physical therapy. Being an unathletic guy with like a 15 inch vert as a starting point didnt help either. What doubled my vert was consistent lifting, isos to strengthen my tendons to avoid injury, and practicing my form a lot.
if you start practicing running or jogging on the ball of your feet instead of your heels, I think it will instantly help you improve your speed and vert. Look up some short people online dunking or just fast sprinters or athletic people and you can see they do not run on there heel.
