  • Every day 34 people in their 20s and 30s are diagnosed with cancer. Seven people aged 13-24 are diagnosed every day. These are their stories. This is AfterThoughts: The Teenage Years.
AfterThoughts: The Teenage Years was created to make visible some of the invisible cancer stories from within the young cancer community.
We share the stories of those diagnosed with cancer in their teens. By exploring the challenges and triumphs of living with cancer as a teenager, we shine a light on the realities of cancer as a young person. AfterThoughts offers young cancer survivors a platform to share their stories and experiences. Honest, raw and filled with hope, AfterThoughts will remind you that you are not alone.
In this episode, Toby Peach and Alice-May Purkiss are joined by Jake who was diagnosed with a brain tumour when he was 19. He tells us stories about short term memory loss, his cancer gap year, scanxiety and having major brain surgery within hours of finding out you've got cancer.
AfterThoughts: The Teenage Years is supported by Teenage Cancer Trust. Teenage Cancer Trust support those diagnosed with cancer when they're 13-24 and provide specialised nursing care and support to get them through treatment.
AfterThoughts deals with some conversations you may find tricky to listen to. If you need any further support, please don't hesitate to reach out to a friend, or find support from any of the brilliant charities online.
