      True. I tried making some contraptions on Bedrock that work on Java and when you press the button, the game will decide if it works or not. Do you know the famous secret piston door that is flush with the walls? Well, it doesn't work on Bedrock. At least when I first tried it.

    • @gigaphoton376
      @gigaphoton376 5 лет назад +83

      @@drakeweddner Yes, but it is a fact that when you send a direct redstone signal to a piston, a piston underneath it should also activate. That either doesn't work on Bedrock, or doesn't work on the Nintendo Switch. If it's a problem of the Nintendo Switch version, then crossplay shouldn't be possible since it means the game works differently on different versions. If it's a Bedrock problem, then it means a mechanic existing since the existance of redstone is STILL to be added onto this version. There is also the fact that the pistons' texture is glitched. Sure, most of the redstone components work fine, but many times what happens is inconsistent, and redstone isn't supposed to be unpredictable, besides what items go out of dispensers and droppers. You can see what I mean in the video Mumbo Jumbo made about his Love Hate relationship with the Bedrock edition of the game. I still enjoy the Bedrock edition of the game and know that redstone is an optional part of the game, but there is a huge community revolving around redstone and people every day wishing to learn redstone and being limited by this kind of bugs, since they can't get Java or currently play it, and pistons are by far one of the most important redstone components in the game. I don't care about quasi connectivity, but people that want to do something more complex than a hidden crafting table, or something, deserve to have CONSISTENT redstone. That is a problem.

    • @harrisonrigg1296
      @harrisonrigg1296 4 года назад +34

      Yes but the way Java operates is very archaic compared to C++. C++ translates in machine code which can be read directly by the processor, leading to much high performance. On the other hand, Java translates into a language which must be read by the JRE during runtime, leading to decrease in performance. C++ has been extremely optimised. Direct, optimised machine code will always be less archaic than Java.

    • @CapitalCrimez
      @CapitalCrimez 4 года назад +16

      To add onto this, C++ handles large arrays and array iteration better than Java. This is because Java has safety measures to check whether an accessed location is safe. Those two factors are very important when graphics are involved, which is why C++ is better than Java for games.

  • @Scorchlette
    @Scorchlette 3 года назад +36

    Why I prefer Java:
    - Better off-hand (torches, blocks, food, etc.)
    - Better Mods (both Forge and Fabric)
    - Optifine and Shaders (Bedrock may have RTX now, but not everyone can use that, plus Optifine massively improves performance to levels higher than Bedrock (I'm talking 300+fps on a 7-year-old graphics card))
    - No MTs (everything is free- maps, skins, mods, etc.)
    - Total skin customization (less of an issue on the Win10 version of Bedrock, but a major issue on console/mobile versions).
    - Better Redstone (Things like quasi-connectivity, plus the more simple nature meaning some cross-compatable machines between Java and Bedrock have vastly different sizes (Java machines always tend to be smaller than bedrock ones, or just unable to be made at all in Bedrock))
    - Hardcore. Mode.

    • @UnstablePotato
      @UnstablePotato 3 года назад +6

      - There are shaders on bedrock
      - maps, mods can be downloaded for free the same way as java, and its way easier

      The Player yeah I agree with the performance being bad, but I’ve had bad experience with monsters spawning on bedrock. Every time I’d go in water there would be 2+ drowned coming to get me wether it was day or night, no matter what water I was in... even a little river. In java, drowned are much more infrequent and their spawning makes more sense to me.
      This hordes of zombies spawning a lot as well is a feature, I believe. There is a chance that they’ll spawn in groups

I would go with AMD Athlon 3000G, which is a processor and has an integrated graphics processor, which means you could take a video output straight from your motherboard. It would run Minecraft, but not a whole lot of other games. 1:09 Yeah, Minecraft bedrock was sold more often than Minecraft Java. But you have to consider: I bought Minecraft bedrock 4 times: on my iPod, on my Android phone, on Windows and on my tablet (different account than on Android phone). My cousin bought it at least 3 times because he lost some Google accounts and therefore the game. The same goes for my brother who bought it 3 times. My girlfriend bought it 2 times.
    All of these persons also own Minecraft Java. But all only bought that version once. I think the main reason for bedrock having more sales is that you have to buy it again on different platforms and that many people are somehow more likely to loose their Google account than their Minecraft Java account. Because we all can still access our Java we bought that one time.

      True. Heck, Pixelmon might possibly be better than Pokémon in the future, since it has all the Pokémon and the same features of Pokémon combined with the ones of Minecraft, except mobs. You could even make your own Pokémon game with this (which is pretty much what Pixelmon servers are)! And that is just a single mod. Bedrock has some neat features, but when you have mods like those it is hard to compete. And don't get me started with people that actually made Pokémon Red inside Minecraft. Or *MINECRAFT INSIDE A MINECRAFT CHEST!* It's just ridiculous.

It can make even 30fps look much better than it usually does if that's what you are forced to run a game at. It can provide a much smoother experience without actually upgrading internal PC hardware as long as you can already hit a playable frame rate consistently. I can run games at 1440p that while not being able to sustain fps at my 144hz refresh rate still look smooth since I do hit over 60fps and can simply enable free sync and set my monitor at 60hz. Bedrock feels absolutely clunky and slower paced than java, much of the content is driven by mtx, the servers are kind of a joke for anyone looking to play semi-seriously/competitively, and the lack of fully controllable off-hand mechanics is just depressing when you know java players have full range of use with the off-hand. Java on the other hand has very competitive servers (UHC, kit pvp, anarchy, actual tournaments such as MC Saturdays, etc..), java's redstone mechanics are actually usable, custom skins, mods, optifine, schematica, ability to go back to even the alpha and classic versions of the game, getting snapshots/new updates first, being able to access the unused game data (Illusioners, giant zombies for example), and even something as simple as having the F3 screen to look at makes a huge difference. As much as toycat sees bedrock as the future of the game, theres a reason the developers still focus on the java version first. it will always be better maintained than bedrock.

    My thoughts on this video:
    -Performance is definitely better on bedrock ( 72 chunks? Jesus), However, The game still does run smoothly on java to the point where it is still playable so there is no real reason to switch for just a visual improvement.
    -Multiplayer is a bit weird since both have their advantages but I think java has superior multiplayer. Sure bedrock has crossplatform, but in my experience, anyone I've ever wanted to play Minecraft with seriously usually has it on their PC. Bedrock multiplayer is inferior imo compared to Realms/making your own server in multiplayer or joining big servers on java
    As for the feature differences, at the end of the day, they both are minecraft: the mining and crafting game. Both versions have identical updates at the same time(now that bedrock has caught up to 1.14) which means that they are basically the same game, however if you are on pc, The good original minecraft is probably the better option

    Okay, so here's my perspective as someone that has both versions of the game. I think that if you're looking to play cross platform with other people then Bedrock is definitely the way to go, but other than that my experience with Java has just been better. Sure, Bedrock may perform better, but due to the fact that it has to cater to the lowest common denominator (mobile), it has to make a lot of concessions in order to be compatible across such a wide spectrum of hardware.
    For me, one of the biggest issues is that Bedrock edition has a maximum simulation distance, meaning that activity beyond a certain distance from the player simply stops. What this means is that say you have some iron ore cooking in a furnace, if you stray too far it simply pauses until you get back within distance (I think the max distance you can set in the options menu is 12 chunks). Another thing I've noticed with this, is that if you have a mine cart rail that is too long, if you want to send a cart you will have to follow it in order to make sure it reaches its destination or it will be stuck on the track unmoving until you get close enough, at which point it will start moving again. In Java edition, you can put your iron in the furnace and go mining as deep as you like, and your ore will be done when you get back. You can send your mine carts as far as you like, and as long as your track is well constructed they will reach their destination rather you are there or not.
    Another major difference I've noticed is that Bedrock edition seems to have a much lower spawn rate for mobs. The main reason I got bedrock in the first place was so that I could play on the cross platform server my younger brother set up on his pc so that we could play with our Dad, who has an X-box, and our youngest brother, who has a Ps4. On that server, I've done a fair bit of exploring, having filled up two level 4 maps worth of territory. During all of that exploring, I spent a significant amount of time without running into any enemy mobs whatsoever, and this is despite the difficulty setting for that server being set to high. At the same time, On my single player Java world with a difficulty setting of normal, it seems like whenever I go cave exploring I have to fight tooth and nail for every little bit of forward progress I make. I also have a single player bedrock world on normal setting, and despite the fact that I have both worlds set on the same difficulty setting I have yet to die even once on my Bedrock world vs. multiple deaths on Java, despite having played a similar amount of time on both worlds. It's like Bedrock edition is a schoolyard bully that wants to harass you every once in a while to make your day bad, while Java is a brutal murderer that wants you dead at all costs (I prefer Java's difficulty to Bedrock's ease).
    This one is more of a nitpick, but I don't like how blocking with your shield is tied to ducking in Bedrock. In Java version it's bound to the same button that you use to place blocks, which to me just makes for better combat. I'm fairly certain this was a concession made for players using a touch screen, i.e mobile.

      the shields are a pet peeve for me too, it even makes you walk slower while holding a shield up than you do in bedrock, and you cant hit while holding down a button, you have to uncrouch, hit, uncrouch. also on xbox pressing down on left stick quickly is hard to do compared to just tapping right click

      The simulation distance is not infinite in java actually. You can not send a Minecraft through unloaded chunks though any chunk that is being loaded with 2 chunks around in any direction will be entity processing. But you do have spawn chunks which are always loaded. Totally agree on the mobspawning thing though. It’s literally impossible to build mob farms and that’s an absolute dealbreaker to me. And the second dealbreaker for me is bedrock redstone which is completely useless and unpredictable

      @vidittiwari8482 4 года назад

      The bedrock Redstone becomes more consistent (not perfect but like 99.9percent consistent.) when you add longer delays. But I understand that some of the bugs like quasi are so useful that it makes bedrock redstone look really bad. Im a bedrock player and I always get annoyed with how simpler contraptions could be if a sticky piston could spit out it's block. But I do enjoy some benefits of bedrock like moving containers. Maybe one day Java and bedrock parity comes to redstone.

    • @feschber

      Vidit Tiwari even 99.999 percent is still inconsistent. Leave a farm running and eventually it’ll break

      @@feschber Now that you mention it, I think I do remember that minecraft Java does prevent things from running in unloaded chunks. I think that was one of the issues that the people who made redstone computers had to work around. I do get the impression however, that bedrock is much more limited in range, though admittedly it could simply be that I never noticed for some reason.

    After watching - I have to say:
    1) Minecoin is a joke
    2) Java has much more content compared to bedrock (add ons)
    3) Personally, the inventory management looks and feels better in Java
    4) LAN servers are just as easy to set up in Java, but external connecting is easier in bedrock
    5) Platforms like Twitch make creating and/or installing modpacks so much easier
    6) Switching versions and creating custom profiles is easier in Java
    7) Commands are made to be easy to use anyway
    8) some things like redstone are broken on Bedrock
    Honestly - Bedrock just feels like the version you get first to get the feel of the game, before moving onto the more complex Java

      Bedrock literally has mod support built in. All you need to do is download the mod and open up the file which will prompt the game to automatically install it.
      Inventory management feels better, imo, for bedrock. Mainly because I always play in creative.
      How is redstone broken? Do people not realise you could just add delays to pistons?
      Commands are easy to use.
      Creating custom profiles: I don't know why you'd need a more difficult process than signing in and playing but sure. Why not?
      But these are just my opinions. Feel free to play any version you want.
