    What could be more clan like, than taking something that has an adequote amount of guns and adding more guns. Some might argue this was a very spheroid thing to do. Slowing a 'mech down to add weapons. But nevertheless let me introduce the Hellfire!
    With the potential to delete entire torsos or smaller 'mechs, it is surely worth a throw of the dice. Just remember, cooling is a requirement!

    You know the Hellfire is a bad mech when Disney gives it a truly epic villain song.
    Kerensky have mercy on them...
    Kerensky have mercy on me...
    But Earth will be mine
    Or she will burn!

      Pitch it, we need the song with the dancing angry 'mech and fire. Lots of fire, from the heatsinks of the stinking thing

    I was all queued up to say that I'd fought enemy Hellfires in tonight's Megamek game. But, uh. Turns out I mistook it for a Hellbringer. Oh well, it blew up too...
    Edited to add: I just ran it again in a solo 1-v-1 fight with a WoB Tempest TMP-3M. Um... yeah, the first shot I fired (from the Hellfire's Heavy Large Laser) headcapped the Tempest. This apparently requires further testing... :D

      Blake Protects! Except a heavy large laser to the face apparently! Hellbringer might be the more useful 'mech after my miserable tests, all having me end up in the graveyard with minimal damage to the enemy! Ugggh

    It looks cool, so it at least has aesthetics going for it.

      Thanks for listening. I must admit I prefer the line art on Sarna to the 3D model (although MWO style isn't my favourite). I don't know why the original Lupus looks like something gobots and then the hellfire, is them trying to keep up with transformers. It looks like a borrow from here, and here, and here. Big lasers are good though, if they can hit

      @@battletopiathe BTA model is good. i have run into them heavily this play through and never seen them before in the game, got one as salvage and immediately stripped the heavy lasers to install bigger LRMs and er lasers. i have never been a fan of the heavy lasers. now, i only used it as it was a better option than the Whitworth i had for fire support at the time.
      I do kind of like the HH refit though. I mean could you imagine a couple of those with some Gnome and either Salamander or Regular Elementals hunting in an urban environment.
      I do really appreciate this series. I look forward to story time with shrapnel.

    The Hellfire is fun...
    As long as you don't have to fire too often. Makes a wonderful sauna, though.

    The 3 is the only configuration is the only one worth your time. It rips out the old defective identity that is heavy laser boating to redefine the mech by carrying of the best official incendiary loadouts to date.

    • @battletopia
      @battletopia  6 месяцев назад +1

      I agree. The 3 is a ground pounders nightmare! Is the SRMs don't get, the flamers will. Out of range of the flamers, bad news there are ER ones too. Haha outside ER range, no problem you are out of luck the 4 plasma cannons will reduce you to a boiling, bubbling mess to be contained in your own boots.

      @@battletopia I don't think even steel toe combat boots are going to be left after this fiend unloads.
      And frankly, all in-atmo units aside from aircraft and aerospace fighters should fear the Hellfir3's ability to inflict heat. If it alphastrikes with inferno SRM's, even a Hellstar's 30 double heat sinks would be struggling while immobile and not shooting.

    Considering the other 60 Ton options out there I would avoid the Hellfire and I'm a fan of the laser/missile load out style. If it was an omni-mech, it could be good with the right load out, but since it is not the cost of modification would be pointless because there are just better 60-ton options.
    Cool video and thank you for the insight.

    • @battletopia

      Thanks for tuning in. Yeah it's a struggle this one, like you say alot of 60 tonners out there to pick from (nearly all better). This is definitely a last resort kind of mech, with the speed and lasers (I mean clanners have pulse nailed but couldn't wait to get this out. Seems weird but then again it can pretty much delete some mechs)

    as far as the Clans, i have a huge soft spot for Star Adder, compared to the other Clans, they are about as sane as Ghost Bear (a *SANE* Clanner??? shocking i know) i actually have a character i made to test out the rules for A Time of War from Clan Star Adder, just so much about Clan Star Adder that i like, ironic though that they had the weakest tech base starting out lol

    • @battletopia
      @battletopia  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for listening! I'm intrigued, what's drawn you to Star Adder? I really struggle with the clans. I have a Smoke Jag force, the 168th cluster but only because it's from Mechcommander. I sometimes run a small Clan Goliath Scorpion seeker star ( but that was forced to pick a clan for a batchall). So I love hearing what draws other people in to the clans

    I think this 'mech looks amazing. Never drove on in the PC versions of the game, never had the model to put it on the tabletop. Well, I guess I do have a 3D file for it so I could have it whenever I want... but heavy lasers just seem like a tough sell to me. When more typical Clan tech is so stinking good, why am I going to be compromising with a heavy laser?

    • @battletopia
      @battletopia  6 месяцев назад +1

      I think that's the crux of the problem dude, that "before it's time" thing (thanks for tuning in by the way). I guess as a 2nd line defensive mech, if the enemy have got to you you are trouble anyway, so why not try and delete them with your massively overpowered killa' beams. But yeah for the price, tonnage and speed I would not look more than once at this beasty

    So... if you've done that game you mentioned...
    How did it go?

    • @battletopia

      It went terrible! So I played my Hellfire against the forces in the story. Started in the centre of the board to make a fighting retreat, the enemy on the southern edge. Well it lasted about 3 turns before the Stopping Hawk was in my face kicking me, the Crimson Langur had come from the far side of the board to beat me to death and the tank just hung back peppering me with shells. I couldn't hit a thing! Until last turn when I got the stooping hawk with a heavy improved laser, opened its torso up but nothing crit. At this point, they knocked me down (every turn) and took out half my heat sinks, gyro and engine hit so I blew up due to heat buildup. I have decided it's not the 'mech for me :-D

    It's a shame the Hellfire is such a problematic design because it's just cool looking and has solid potential. I have one that I've never actually used on the table but I think I need to try it out now..

    • @battletopia
      @battletopia  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks for listening dude. It's only problematic if you go gung-ho. Or want to hit something 🤣. My megamek experiment went terrible and ended up with me exploding due to heat build up and getting pummeled by a Stooling hawk and back stabbed by a Crimson Langur. It was a beautiful death, taking half the enemies with me. Did open the torso of stopping hawk with a single heavy laser though. The 3 looks mean for anything not a 'mech
