Luv this thriller and shows Jennifer is a master at playing complex characters.

I just saw the movie for the first time and they did a great job with this trailer. I watch the trailer think it seems way more action packed and intense than most of the actual movie, which is quite slow and into 'world building'. I'm not saying the movie would've been better if it had been like the trailer, just different, and a more typical movie.
The thing I found most fascinating about this movie is the use of non-actor locals and locals with no real professional experience, which is talked about a lot in the director's movie commentary:
•The guy at 1:36 had only done high school plays.
•Another local was the woman standing next to him at 0:28 (and 0:51) that helps Ree out at various points in the movie. She was an actual actress, but according to imdb had exactly one credited role to her name prior to Winter's Bone.
•The woman about Jennifer Lawrence's age who played her best friend (1:59) was part of a local acting troupe. Winter's Bone is her first listed credit on imdb. You wouldn't know it from the trailer, but it's one of the bigger roles in the movie.
•The Army recruiter that Ree goes to for an interview was an actual military recruiter.
•And, as another post mentioned, the house exterior that Ree and her siblings live in is the same house where the little girl playing Ree's sister actually lived. That's mind blowing to me. There's a scene with the little girl is feeding a dog, and that's her actual dog (same dog as at 0:05).
•Ree's little brother (1:53) is also a local, non-actor who lived very nearby.

The children actually lived on the property. Some of the nicest people you will ever meet. As. Strickler, they were the most welcoming people you could ever meet.

Great performances in a hard story. If you haven’t seen this, do yourself a favor.

    What a silly hillbilly movie.
