    Subbed. Loved the review on the V4T. Want to trade up from my '09 V-Twin Tuono badly. Just the sound alone of that V4 has sold me on the bike and I haven't even test ridden one yet!

    I was wondering about some rider's comments about the low speed fueling and tall gearing of Tessie and her siblings. Is it possible to install a different sprocket to lower/shorter ratio gearing for better around town/lower speed fueling and riding? Or alternatively, install a different cassette for lower gearing (I hear the rsv4 has the ability to swap out gear cassettes to suit different tracks)? Guess I could ask the local dealer but they just picked up the aprilia line so I'm not sure they have the experience needed yet for questions beyond service points :) I also was thinking that if the gearing was lower you could run her at higher revs for better engine sound and remain possibly at legal speeds

    • @VeeFour
      @VeeFour  9 лет назад

      +Windy Run apparently if you fit a 1 tooth smaller front sprocket it smooths it out a bit. I've become used to the way she rides now, so I'm not changing anything this year but there's a lot of info on the forums on this subject

    Thanks for your thoughts. I hear you. Guess to be more specific. I was thinking of swapping the daytona (aggressive forward lean) for the tuono since I also love v4 sound and way it makes power (only familiar with VFRs). But people seem to think the Tuono is more of a hard core race bike with high mounted bars :) . I'm keeping the daytona though since its a blast to ride and about the right amount of power to enjoy on the street.

      Triumphs are brilliant, I love that triple motor, but whatever you do, don't test ride an Aprilia V4, if you do then your doomed, it's like selling your soul to the Devil xD

    Good blog. I've always liked quick bikes and recently bought a 61 plate APRC model after researching many reviews and road tests. I will use it as my everyday bike despite the 30mpg (if you're lucky) and abysmal tank range. HOWEVER, you don't buy this bike for mpg and it's such a fun bike the smiles per gallon make up for the extra fuel stops. Agree about low speed fuelling although mine has the 1 tooth reduction front sprocket which undoubtedly improves the town/traffic experience. Beautiful motor with linear torque and both the chassis & engine have evolved from WSB wins. That V4 howl is addictive - an even better engine note than my Crossplane R1 which has race pipes and has evolved into my track bike hence the Tuono addition as a road bike. The Tuono handles so well that I'm in little doubt it will go round a nadgery track quicker than my R1. Check out my track videos - I may post one up on the Tuono next season.

      +ash4pm You sound like a fellow after my own heart! I'm even looking for a cosmetically damaged R1 to turn into a track bike too.
      You're spot on, the Tuono is all about the fun and the crapy MPG is a very small price to pay for the grin inducing madness that is the V4. I've done a track on on mine but I was to worried about dumping it to really get the most out of it, hence why I'm toying with the track bike notion. You're also the second person to recommend the one tooth less gearing up front, so I'll definitely be looking into that.
      I've subbed to you and I'll look forward to seeing your V4 shenanigans :)

    • @ash4pm
      @ash4pm 9 лет назад

      +VeeFour I don't know if you've ridden the Crossplane R1 but it's linear torque delivery is similar to the Tuono and the handling is superb so I'm sure you'd like it. The R1 has more horses, especially with a race pipe fitted, but it's heavier than the Tuono, won't change direction as quickly and mpg is similar too. Consequently, my bike carbon footprint isn't the best......... lol

      I just bought one and get it on Friday. A 2011 Tuono V4. How bad are we talking on fuel? What are you getting out of a tank?

    Nice vid.. I'm surprised I've not noticed you bobbing around as I live at the top end of Bury and use my bike daily (ktm 950sm up until recently, now my bmw R1200GS lc).. A couple of weeks back I took my gs to the 3 sisters charity track day and loved it, but was a bit worried about trashing it, so I reckon an older 600cc ish sports bike for about £1500 ish would be the answer for that kind of malarkey..

    • @VeeFour
      @VeeFour  9 лет назад

      I'm thinking along the same lines too. I'm keeping my eyes open for a cat D cosmetic only write off Gixer or similar for track days. I tend t ride mostly at weekends at the moment,I'll keep a look out for you, but you're more likely to hear me before you see me :)

    Looking forward to "the decision". :) I'm in a somewhat similar situation in that I have a daytona 675 that I love (like your Tessy) but would like another more comfy all rounder. I've been considering a tuono but keep hearing how maybe its a bit much for the casual run arounder. Also considering an s1000r.

    • @VeeFour
      @VeeFour  9 лет назад

      +Windy Run Hmm I wouldn't class the Tuono as a comfy allrounder as the engine is a
      bit to highly strung. You can't go wrong with Triumphs imo, my Speed
      Triple was a much better all round bike than Tess, high 40s mpg and bags
      of fun at all speeds. I only swapped because I've lusted after the V4
      since their launch, and I go through toys like a toddler :)

      Try the new Tuono 1100.
      It's still a Tuono (a true jizz machine) but "way" more comfy.

    Did you buy your second bike if not you've gotta try the multistrada. It's my first and loving it. Use it to commute every day and like you have special bike for nice days. Mine's an MV Brutale 1090RR naked.

    • @VeeFour
      @VeeFour  9 лет назад

      +John Roberts I have, I went for the Triumph Tiger Explorer. I did try the DVT Multi, and I liked it but seeing as I already have an Italian rocket, I thought I'd go for something a bit different, plus I've always liked Triumph.

    should i get this bike or 2016 kawi z1000?
    our dealer made a perfect discount for 2014 tuono v4 aprc. they wanna sell it brand new for 12k! same price for 2016 kawi z1000.
    i know the tuono is more superior than z1000. but the kawi z1000 is my dream bike.
    what i mean u cant go wrong with tuono.
    actually i cant decide which one should i get.
    and yeah, i found 2011 tuono for sale for just 8k with only 3000 miles 😭
    i really cannot make up my mind.
    need help guys.

    • @VeeFour
      @VeeFour  8 лет назад

      if the Kawasaki is your dream bike then I'd get that one. is the Tuono an unsold 2014 1000cc or an 1100? 12k seems like a lot for a 2014 machine.

    • @flexer83
      @flexer83 8 лет назад

      +VeeFour its 1000cc. dunno actually about there prices thats y am asking. but its brand new.

    • @VeeFour
      @VeeFour  8 лет назад

      flexer83
      It may have never been sold and has zero miles, but it's not brand new. They made the last 1000cc Tuonos early in 2014 because the new 1100 came out in 2015 and they replaced the 1000, that's why 12k seems expensive

    • @VeeFour
      @VeeFour  8 лет назад

      Mind you are you talking in Euros? because if you are then maybe 12k is quite good for a zero milage 1000cc v4

    You might want to contact Ade at which bike.com. He is a great blogger in UK also who recently had an off with his 2 / 3 month old 899. The insurance company totaled it but it only needs new plastics if you can live with a couple of scratches on the engine covers etc. Maybe it can be purchased for close to nothing since you would put race plastic on it anyway. Just a thought. This is a link to Ade's announcement of the crash which contains a video of the after so you can see how little damage to the bike there is: ruclips.net/video/7kB7qgebw94/видео.html

      @VeeFour  9 лет назад

      +Windy Run oh yes I'm very familiar with Ade's work, I love his channel. I advised him to do the very same thing to his poor crashed Pan, it would make a superb track bike.

      you want me to ask zombis of touono if shes good? DO YOU MEAN THAT ONLY HERE IN GREECE THEY MELD AND EXPLODE? IN CYPRUS 2 FRIENDS OF ME ONE WITH A 2008 TOUONO AND OTHER WITH AN RSV RSV MELD THE ECU...AND THE TOUONO NEEDS ENGINE WITH ONLY 40.000 KM..THE BILL IS THE SAME AS A LAMBO OR FERRARI....AND IF YOU DONT KNOW YOU CAN PAY GOOGLE TO REMOVE ANYTHING YOU WANT......AND THERE IS SOMETHING CALLED RELIABILITY STATS EVERY YEAR FOR ALL MOTORBIKE COMP. APRILLIA SHE NOT EVEN ON TOP 10.....TOP 5 ARE ONLY BIKES FROM JAPAN....FORGET WHAT YOU KNOW UNTIL NOW....WE HAVE IN OUR HANDS NOW THE OFFICIAL RELIABILITY STATS SO NO ONE CAN SAY WHAT THE FUCK HE WANTS

    • @VeeFour
      @VeeFour  7 лет назад +2

      There's no need to shout.
      Firstly, link these stats you mention and I'll look for myself.
      secondly, everyone knows someone who has owned a bike that they had problems with. I myself once owned a Honda CBR 1100XX Blackbird that was reputed to have legendary reliability, but yet I had nothing but problems with it from day one. Yet a friend of mine has an RSV Mille that he bought brand new about 14 years ago, that has 50k+ miles on it and has only ever been serviced and has never once let him down.
      Most modern ECUs are made by Boshe, so if one melts then it's likely to be an issue with them not the bike manufacturer. Currently Ducati, Aprilia and KTM are having to recall bikes because of a brake issue, but this is down to a fault with the Brembo units and again isn't a manufacturer issue.
      You obviously don't like Italian bikes and that's your choice, but Aprilia is a great premium brand that I and countless others have had nothing but good experiences with, so crap on them all you want but I would buy another tomorrow.

      WE ARE RIDERS..WE DONT FIGHT WE JUST LIKE BIKES....NOPE DUCATI AND APRILLIA USES CHINA WIRING...YES SHIT HAPPENS WITH ALL BIKES.....BUT WHEN YOU SEE A POLICEMAN WITH A CB750 AND WITH 250.000KM NO REBUILDS...20 YEARS NOW I NEVER SAW A BIKE FROM ITALY OR GERMANY TO GO SO HIGH WITHOUT REBUILDS..THEY EVEN FIND IT HARD TO PASS 60.000 MILES WITH NO PROB. A ZX12 WITH 130.000KM AND SHE IS STILL GOING LIKE NOTHING HAPPEND..in our days reliability is costing 5 times the amound of bike it self....it becomes a joke in bars....ktm-aprillia-ducati-mv agousta all of them used are like russian roulette...ride safe brother
