Dude we need a 'weekend rider' series! I want to see your daily rider style reviews applied to the weekend warriors! Get some of these bikes out on the fun roads and do a separate weekend warrior ranking. So many owners like me don't or can't commute on a motorcycle and only ride for fun and want to know which bikes are the best, fun/comfort/handling/performance bikes!
Aren't basically all bike reviews geared towards weekend warriors already? I need my bike to get me around first and be fun second so I am glad that this series exists as an exception from the weekend warrior norm.
Check out the common tread and shop manual videos. It's Ari and Zack and they do good stuff. They were at motorcyclist and did videos for them and then motor trend for a bit. You can still see the old stuff on RUclips too.
First seeing the “bags”, I loved them! Until he walked to the back and exposed that monstrosity on the other side. Why.. my self diagnosed OCD would make me burn the entire bike.
If you take the weight of the large bag on one side, and the combined weight of the small bag and the bloody HUGE exhaust on the other it probably centres the mass correctly to balance the motorcycle.
@@freebehindbars8654 What do you mean? I'm talking about why the bags arent symmetrical height. The model without bags would just have the exhaust wich isn't adding any weight above the centreline, like if you stack your gear in it.
The saddle bag on the left should be mounted higher so it matches the smaller bag on the right, even if they don’t drop down the same amount. This just looks bad.
My best guess for the bag positioning is that they put the bigger (heavier) bag down low to help even out the centrer of gravity if you load up the bags. Just my guess.
I enjoy seeing Zack tie himself in knots when trying to find the right spot for the more enjoyable, if somewhat less practical, bikes on the leaderboard. The internal struggle between objectivity on the one hand and the sheer fun on the other is very, very real. 😂
Last time I owned a Tuono Factory I got he biggest speeding ticket, 1 mph away from getting arrested and put in jail with the booty warrior. I had to hire a Better call Saul lawyer and he amazingly got the ticket reduced to a faulty tail light. 😁 So I switched from a fast liter bike to torque and wheelies on a 450 supermoto and couldn't be happier.
I bought a 22 Tuono V4 in white after watching this video. The riding experience on this bike with that motor is one of a kind. The acceleration, the sound..OMG the sound is other worldly. Thanks Zack for inspiring me.
@@ferie29 I'm 183cm. Knees feel good. Riding position is much milder than other super bikes. Is it as comfortable as a cruiser? No. That being said I bought one at age 54.
Disconnect the butterfly valve flap servo cables and the restrictions in 1st and 2nd gear are gone..I am amazed at how good the exhaust sounds with occasional cracks and pops with a deep growl. I have never seen a stock exhaust sound so good 👍. Love this bike 👌
I have owned 4 tounos and I disagree with you. It is an absolut amasing machine. It works perfect om twisty roads and is absolutly amasing on a track. It works fine om daytrips to.
aprilia gone back with fit and finish of their bikes. when you look closely, it is not feeling special as before. I can see ugly gaps between the body panels (even different gaps for same panels on zero miles bikes side to side). we may become more picky by the time, it is ok. buy why I see competitors gone up with their fit and finish and not aprilia?
That kind of thing drives me nuts too, where you can't see what's coming in the road ahead and you're trying to concentrate on the review but you're nervous about the restricted view. This review is pretty good and I can see the road signs on the freeway okay. I agree with some others it would be nice to get some shots of you on the bike. Try to find some big Windows to ride by okay haha.
HE DONE A OFF ROAD JUMP ON THE TUONO! I was so torn whether to get the factory because of the suspension. Or get the base model because of the higher bar and subframe for bags. The perfect model would be the base with the active suspension. After I saw him jump with this base model and the suspension handled it. Stuff the factory. Base model it is
Having had an old 2012 model, subsequent models up to 2021 model were following the same logic of hypernaked. The new one kind of reminds me of the blend between Tuono and Caponord. Since they do not produce the latter, they made a hybrid model Tuono GT with the windscreen and saddlebags. Maybe just call it Tuononord. :)
I suspect the weird saddle bag mounting helps with theoretical weight balance. A smaller bag (less weight), longer (moment) arm versus bigger bag, shorter arm?
I own 2021 factory and i can't find any limitations on 1 an 2nd with power/torque delivery. Asked my aprilia diler and they haven't heard about this either.
As someone that dreams of a Tuono V4 the previous gen than this is the one to get, noted. :p Restricting power without the option to turn it off is indeed really disappointing. The aftermarket will probably solve this in due time with ECU tuning and we might see the true power in those first scary gears, haha
Yeah I’ve been loving mine. Have about 1300 miles on it. Smiles every ride. I never noticed the bags before in other videos. It almost looks like it was done for balancing.
i got the bike in early august. i tried to get race ECU recently from dealer and shell out hard cold cash. they do not have a map for it yet. dealership says they are waiting on update from aprilia. also i failed to find any 3rd market flash services or race ECUs and maps for it. still waiting. but bike is the beast. can't beat it for the buck.
@RevZilla Zack, you should start doing a dorky side shot of you sitting on the bike. It would be nice to get a better idea of legroom while in riding position
i rode the 2012 tuono for 2.5 years as daily commute, so i think my views are very valid. tuono such is such a beast, best stock sounding bike in the market, bar none, confidence inspiring in every type of situation. but it is a fucking hot bike and not great for city traffic, also drinks petrol like us drinking coffee, overall a great experience but not the best commuter
No way the Tuono V4 is a better daily rider that the Street Triple 765R. I own a 2013 Tuono V4R and a 2015 Street Triple 675R and I have already tested the 2021 Tuono V4 and 2021 Street Triple 765R. The Triumph is smoother, easier to ride, more nimble and has better fuel mileage. Fun? At slow speeds the Triumph is more fun than the Aprilia
I guess I'm getting old and out of touch, but that isn't a naked bike! It has a fairing and body work. A traditional naked bike has none of these things, so why use the term? Just curious. Nice bike, but the saddlebags are a cluster f**k. Oh, 175hp is plenty enough...if not too much for most street riders. I like the police color scheme, just to mess with other drivers!
I had a test ride on a Tuono a couple years ago. Stuck in freeway traffic stop-n-go it overheated to the point it started knocking. On another occasion, after a really good section of road it was the Tuono rider who ran out of gas 5 miles from the planned gas stop. I love the sound, the feel, the power... but no.
Hello, Do you have any plans to commute one Triumph Speed Triple-RR. I loved your daily ride on the 2016 Speed Triple but the rain kinda dampened the ride. I think it's time for a redo, not to mention it has a new chassis, power plant, and displacement. So what do ya say are you up to the re-review?
LOVE your videos.... I've got a request .. For us over seas viewers would it be possible to include (on screen maybe) the stats using the metric system? That would really be awesome!!!! Keep it up!!!
Watch a review from Europe if you want metric. It’s nice to be able to watch reviews in our units for a change. There are many more reviews in metric than English too btw.
The Tuono should have gone right to the top of the leaderboard. Those ADV's are great motorcycles but none of them can excite you like a Tuono. And this excitement is why we ride!
To anyone researching this bike. Considering getting a 'Gabro map' via 'Up map T800' and instantly solve any ECU related issues with this bike. (Smoother throttle, limiters removed in lower gears, a bit more hp/tq, turn signals in the headlight housing instead of the actual signals, ability to flash it back to stock for warranty work, if any. etc etc) I'm told it's the best money you'll spend on the bike...along with an exhaust.
Liked before even watching it. I know you did an MC commute on the Tuono that was 10-12 minutes long. This was what i wanted all along. Now I dont have a dealership for atleast 6 hours near me. I need to move.
Almost bought a 22 Tuono v4 based on this review….that was until the Aprilia forums blew up with overheating problems with no solution….good ole Euro 5 standards killing one bike at a time….great review!
just love the way how you do your kind of testing, and give your opinion.can you flash the tuono so that it will give fúll power in the first two gears?..
I'm hoping to see a DR for the Harley PanAm soon. Since upright sport and ADV touring bikes rank so highly in these tests, I'm curious Zack's take on the PanAm versus the GS, Multistrada, and others.
Sweet bike stupidest luggage design ever. I would use a large tailbag and tankbag before I would consider that hideous set up. Awesome that they make one way more towards the touring side. Great passenger saddle and handles, a real windscreen.

Ducati sf4 has electronic torque limiter for 1-3 gear but you can find this information, it's official. I'm absolutely sure this is not the case in tuono. Only thing which can explain this nanny impression to me is different sprocket size in standart tuono model. Ps. If you have a chance to make the test ride do it. @@zblazjusz Thank you for your reply. Yes the same here, I never heard of anything like that before either. I will definitely do a test ride. I tried a RSV4 on track this summer and it blew my mind. Absolutely fantastic bike. I am sure the Tuono is the same.
Resume cruise is in the book, I think. It's been awhile, but I think it was 'hold up for 2 seconds' on my 2017. Also, dollars to donuts says that the $700 Race ECU removes low gear limiters, if there are any, which I don't think there are. Base model has a 40 tooth rear sprocket compared to the Factory's 42 tooth. All 16-20 (US) Tuonos had a 42 tooth rear. So that's a bit less thrust, too, but easily fixable.
For cruise control resume can be used. With the system on and the mile per hour blinking press and hold up words on the cruise control joystick for more than one second. This will resume your last speed.
powerful amount of anality involved in the alignment and spacing of the leaderboard. Mighty impressed! Take this as a compliment from one who has stringlined keyboards, monitors and mice in computer training rooms. And then there was the alignment of the pens. And notebooks. A special kind of agony/ecstasy, aaaaahhhhh...
I guess we live in an age where central planning is extended to motorcycle OEMs. A rider can't be trusted to control the throttle in 1st and 2nd, and the nanny must take over ? This earns a well deserved "COME ON MAN !!!", I use my Tuono to get away from the nanny state (particularly here in Southern California). Aprilia don't forget who your customers are.
If the Tuono inherited the same Piaggio cruise control used on the Moto Guzzi V85 TT then push the switch up for about 2 seconds to resume your saved speed. That took me a weekend to discover on my own. You may also be able to roll the throttle forward about a half cm to cancel it without braking.
Great review. I wish the leaderboard had multiple axis to capture more charactistics. Perhaps "cool" as an "y" axis. I believe you started that way. Would you consider a change?
Another really fun daily ride review. I loved seeing your internal struggle in determining where that bike was going to land on the leaderboard, gave me quite a chuckle!
Recently test rode the standard model and really enjoyed it. Leg area was a little more compact than I thought it would be but it wasn't a deal breaker. I didn't like the neutered gearing/power in the early gears but once you open it up past 5k rpm, it's so much fun. I'd swap for the shorter risers and windscreen from the factory but this bike is definitely on my short list.
Nice review. Easy to tell that you enjoyed this one. I would choose the version with the bags, except those bags are not worth it. Might as well go for te Factory! Or better yet, Aprilia, stuff this V41100 into a classic, full faired sport tourer, call it the Futura, and take my money!
I was just about to say "it could never be better than a Versys 1000", but then I thought it looks like a "so much more" version of my old, beloved Yamaha XJ6F (FZ6R/Diversion 600). Just like the XJ6, the Tuono seems like a GREAT bike to ride whenever, wherever, and however you want - obviously with much more power and technology than my old Yamaha. Base model has a 40 tooth rear sprocket compared to the Factory's 42 tooth. All 16-20 (US) Tuonos had a 42 tooth rear. So that's a bit less thrust, too, but easily fixable.
Tour bike? Of course. I've been touring my 07 T Factory for years. It's been my favorite bike to tour on since my Futura.
For cruise control resume can be used. With the system on and the mile per hour blinking press and hold up words on the cruise control joystick for more than one second. This will resume your last speed.
Do you keep hitting neutrals randomly? Thats not great 😑. Seen it twice already and only 15mins in!)
I don't think I've ever seen you have as much fun on a Daily Rider before :). Tuono has me giggling every time I ride too
I really want one but I’m concerned about the ease of doing your own maintenance and parts availability. This is my favorite supernaked.
powerful amount of anality involved in the alignment and spacing of the leaderboard.
Mighty impressed!
Take this as a compliment from one who has stringlined keyboards, monitors and mice in computer training rooms.
And then there was the alignment of the pens.
And notebooks.
A special kind of agony/ecstasy,
aaaaahhhhh...
Well that was definitely the first time EVER that I saw a Tuono off road test 😂🙈☺️…. Wth are you thinking dude…. 😂
And here I used to think the exhaust cutout on the inside of my 2016 1200 Multistrada S were bad... these saddlebags are a new level of trainwreck.
Hi I am watching your video RUclips are spoiling my viewing with ads every 4mins.Barry from wales in uk.
2021+ bikes and no keyless :( feelsbadman
That glorious engine note!!! OMG I love a V4!!
Super fun as always. Hope you get to ride a Super Duke or an SMCR or maybe an MV Agusta Turismo Veloce at some point.
I wish they put that glacier white paint on more bikes 😍
If the Tuono inherited the same Piaggio cruise control used on the Moto Guzzi V85 TT then push the switch up for about 2 seconds to resume your saved speed. That took me a weekend to discover on my own.
You may also be able to roll the throttle forward about a half cm to cancel it without braking.
LOL "And you don't have to be going 75 MPH to wheelie... Which I appreciate " - Zach Corts.
Ill stick with after market saddle bags. The miss match size and height... especially the hight... drive me insane. Why aprillia?
Great review. I wish the leaderboard had multiple axis to capture more charactistics. Perhaps "cool" as an "y" axis. I believe you started that way. Would you consider a change?
It's like the bike has a saddle bag on one side and a growth on the other, lol.
These daily rider videos with Zack are just awesome :)
Another really fun daily ride review. I loved seeing your internal struggle in determining where that bike was going to land on the leaderboard, gave me quite a chuckle!
You have the perfect job to ride an Aprilia, you can enjoy the good parts of riding one then give it back before it starts to go wrong!😂
Feels good to own an MT07. :)
Thanks for another excellent video, Zack!
