(1) You can reduce Coal to just 10 people on day 1, giving 5 more people to do Wood. Wait until 5pm to start the Generator, and you'll be fine. (2) Cooking the food you have will give everyone enough to get through the end of Day 3 ... so I prefer to delay Hunter's Huts until after the Workshop, Cemetery, and Medical Post. I then build 2 Hunters. (3) I put more Gathering Huts up ASAP, because people in a Hut are more efficient than people working a pile directly. Having them more efficient means you can fill two Hunter's Huts without ruining all your Wood income. (4) Interesting tip about the second 24-hr shift causing a scripted death! I knew there was a scripted death, but I didn't realize the second 24-hr was what caused it. That said ... I still think a Workshop on 24-hr shift Day 1 is worth the death ... 24-hr shift gives me Faster Gathering, which helps quite a bit. Now that I know the second shift is causing the death, though ... I'm going to fiddle with it, and see if I can avoid the Cemetery. (5) Soup's really not necessary. Push more people in Gathering Posts on Day 1 for Resources, and get multiple Hunter's Huts active (2 on Day 3, plus a third when you rescue the Lost Survivors). (6) With a Gathering Hut on a pair of Coal deposits, 7 people gives you a strong enough flow that you don't even need to turn the Generator off Day 2. More Generator = less sick people. Also, 7 people gathering Coal instead of 10 (or 15?!?) gives you more manpower to work with. (7) I'm curious what you're going to do with your Generator ring, because I never have a space problem there. I put my first Workshop in Warmth, and later move it to a Steam Hub when I'm building all my Infirmaries (which go around the Generator, but not until the late game).
I had 0 clue about the scripted death; I always thought it was random and it started to frustrate me. It's actually very important because it causes more sickness due to disease. That 1st death actually made it so I couldn't continue on Hard, it's great to know now.
they upped the hell out of sickness on hard mode. I tried your series out and made it to day 6 before I had 20 people sick, gravely sick or being treated.
Hey Pinstar, Was looking for that humble bundle link you mentioned at the end of the video. what a great start! cant wait to see the fate of this town!
i hope you will still look up jurassic world evolution like i asked you about on your stream of this testing and such but that haveing been said nice work your honesty doing stuff i never even thought of granted i down own the game but i do a ton of thoery crafting and the like even with games i dont own just becase i enjoy the thoery building and the thinking stuff out the way your doing it seems like its realy flexable so fair and also milking every drop you can out of usefullness but i do wonder if theres a cost in terms of what if you take your hunterrs offline durning the day to have them do other jobs them put them back in before 1600 or is that a bad idea? as it seems like if you do that you could get away with 2 huts rather fast if you had the supplys to spare
That is absolutely still on my radar! As far as the Hunter trick: I am aware of it. I try NOT to abuse it, as you are essentially getting a 24 hour shift out of your people without the penalties associated with a formal 24 hour shift. I'm content using my hunters as my defacto builders during the day, as you'll see in coming episodes.
ah nice thats also a good thought will also act as a stop gap untill you get more ppl back in if you dont want to make the kids work also glad it is im realy hyped for it my self im just sad i wont have the cash to get it any time soon but i w ould love to thorey craft with you on it had a thought of makeing a "safe" iland to start with and seeihg now ell that can do and such but ya its realy a big what can we all do or will it end up sort of l ike a roller coster tycoon thing with just a sweet dino get up even if that is the case i think it will be a realy fun game more so with the conest risk of dinos geting out and the like
I have to say the amount of bad advice in this vid is staggering. Street + gathering post before workshop? Not dismantling any streets for early wood? TAKING PEOPLE OFF RESOURCES ON DAY 1 OF HARD TO BUILD?? (That was particularly egregious). Not setting single resource gathering posts to increase efficiency? Crazy that this is one of the first links when I search for advanced FP tips.

I'm trying to get my hard mode achievements and wanted to get some tips. I did not expect to learn I could ROTATE BUILDINGS.

Lol yeah this guy is not great at the game. Pretty ballsy to make a strat guide.
Good video,
I was going to play the game myself but I would rather watch and learn and then play it myself with what I learned.

Ack! I realized it was missing! It is up there now! www.humblebundle.com/store/frostpunk?partner=pinstar&charity=24627
Very useful ä thank you indeed!
Sorrily I have to wait until a Mac version of Frostpunk will be available - until then I learn a lot from your videos
looking forward to the strategy & tactics of this game...i hope you'll go the religious route since most other lp-ers are going the order way
Hah, I knew you'd do a series of this game - it looked very Pinstar compatible.
City-Builder Survival is the foundation on which this channel was built. Banished was my very first Strategy & Tactics series back in the day.
Yea, Banished lead me to your channel back then.
What do Hothouse Selection mean exactly??
i love this game.
RTS games ain't that bad. Lol great video as always. I've had my wondering eye on this game ever since it was announced.
its a city builder, not an RTS. there is no "strategy," involved because that term refers to war. this is more like an economic/logistics sim.

but i do wonder if theres a cost in terms of what if you take your hunterrs offline durning the day to have them do other jobs them put them back in before 1600 or is that a bad idea? as it seems like if you do that you could get away with 2 huts rather fast if you had the supplys to spare
