  • It's almost time to kick off Festi-Vault season!
The most important thing at a festival is having somewhere to sleep and keep your stuff dry, so we've put together a little guide for the best tents to use for festivals in 2024. Whether you're working to a tight budget, or you need something with a bit more space, we've got the right one for you.
Let us know if we missed anything, and if you're at any festivals this summer, we hope to see you there.
Apologies for the audio issues, apparently we recorded this during a hurricane...

I swear by the following. Double skinned, pitched outer first, dome, with a porch area (to keep muddy boots out of the sleeping area). A Hydrostatic head (that is the waterproof rating) of at least 1500, preferably 2000 or more (the pitch outer first means the skin is pulled tight and so it is more effective in shedding water) get at least 6 really chunky pegs (use them where the poles meet the ground) and that ain't going anywhere.
It is the MOST forgiving tent to pitch, even without guy ropes (and at festivals NOBODY respects guy ropes, so don't bother with them) it will keep you dry from what falls from above. My experience? 8 Glastonbury's (including 2005!) several Beautiful Dayz, a couple of Global Gatherings and several other music festivals.
Other hints: Fold back Bulldog clips that just fit over your poles, use them to clip a space blanket to the outside of your tent. Turns being woken up by tent heat from being about 7 am, to more 11 am.
A Trangia style stove and mini stand, plus of you are solo, a pot or lidded mug of about 750ml. Think of it as a travel kettle. A strip wash is a great way to start the day, and always being able to brew up a cuppa is always a win.

Great advice! Might have to take the space blanket idea on board!

Used a single skin dome tent at Download in 2016, never again, took me 3 years to go back after that rain :D woke up the last 3 days in a pond from the rain going straight through the single skin. now it's double skin only and 3000hh minimum for me ever since. very informative vid too, good work.

That rain in 2016 was the absolute worst. A few of our tents got soaked right through too, so we've definitely learned our lessons the hard way.
Glad you enjoyed the vid, thanks for watching!
