They asked Public Enemy to advertise a Malt liquor and Chuck D's response was you don't sell malt liquor in your neighborhood but only our neighborhood, so NO!

i hear what you're saying, but put it all in context. they are selling to the poor and the young. they knew to go after young white people, because they knew that old whites were locked into their groove. they went after blacks, because it was cheap and powerful and poor blacks were known for drinking any garbage shoved their way. is it insidious? sure, but in the context of advertising it's just another day on madison avenue. which is to say, get all the money any way you can.

I remember the malt liquor onslaught against black communities throughout this country! All of the television commercials during black programs, the bulletin boards strategically placed in black neighborhoods & magazine ads in black publications. I also remember black community activists warning against drinking that crap! Unfortunately, their warnings fell on death ears. The majority of the alcoholics & winos in da hood was addicted to malt liquor. Most of them are dead now.
