I met him and his wife several times where I work and they were absolutely genuine and real. I actually met him 40 years ago at Thorbecks gym on Scottsdale and McDowell and he was super nice then also. A very good guy, I'm saddened by his demise, but he's in a better place.

He was a physical wreck before he returned to the WWE in 1986. He had to first get a hip replacement. Then when he came back from that, it was clear he could not wrestle anymore. So they did a retirement injury angle with Butch Reed. His last wrestling Match was in early November 1987 against Buch Read.
