$70 for a unfinished game with micro transactions AND TO HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DLC? Corporate greed has made it to the gaming industry nothing’s sacred
Development costs arent the reason games are so expensive... The majority of the "budget" goes to the CEO's pockets!
I remember when new games were $50 to see them go to $60 then $70 is crazy.
I remember thinking it was too much $50 for a brand new game
@@SIRKHEEM I remember thinking that too, but I also remember when that 50$ got me the entire game.

Paying $70 for half baked games now is the reason why people are playing older games ( that have already been patched and fixed )

Bro. No shit that we are buying older games and not getting the new one. If we getting sick of paying $60 for a incomplete, dlc driven game. Then we definitely ain't going to buy a $70 game when it drop. So the outrage not fake, is proving a point of why we don't support it.
Amen 💯
I honestly would pay $70 for games to compensate for inflation if we also rewound time back to how games were back in 2007, with no microtransactions, no battle passes, no loot boxes, etc. Just me and the game, no bullshit.
The problem is AAA publishers who release $70 games still keep that bullshit, so I don’t get any of the benefits of a higher price, I’m just paying more for the same bullshit. Screw that.
We not copping new games because they are 70$ lmfao like bro i want stellar blade but im not spending 70 on a game im 21 and trying to build a life
You forgot the money important part: THEY FUCKING SUCK!! The spirit of gaming has been replaced with greed & live services
Facts bruh I pre ordered dragon ball instead the game is fye,but paying $74:00 for it that’s crazy
I dont buy 70 dollar games cuz they 70 dollars
proving the point of the article lol
@@stackin_presents2782 The article is out of touch. Imagine if car lots started charging more money for new cars but you car didn't come with any wheels. But oh, for an extra few grand they can send you one wheel a week for a month! That's what gaming has been doing for the last decade. Unless the game is actually good, I'm not paying full price for shit.
I miss when games were $50
The irony in the former president of a company behind call of duty and overwatch saying he doesn't like to be nickle and dimed is making me laugh out loud 😂
On the first topic, it's true, I rarely buy games at launch. Cyberpunk was the straw that broke the camel's back. Don't misunderstand, I avoided the launch of CP2077 and all of the bugs but then bought it, played through all endings, and had fun. So what's the issue? CP 2.0 with Phantom Liberty came out, and I already had over 100 hours in that game. I was done with it with no desire to return. Even when I waited for the patches, I still missed the "best" experience.
Meanwhile, I bought BG3's ultimate edition and Yakuza:Infinite Wealth with all the day-one DLC because it is a full product. It costs more than $70 to get all the content, but I know getting hundreds of hours of entertainment out of those massive RPGs, and at least with RGG once they drop a game and the additional day-one stuff they never return to add shit, on to the next game. I don't mind paying $70 or even more than $70 just gimme a working game.
As for the "tipping culture" subject, I agree with the CEO and you, TBH. I know any way to generate extra revenue would just go straight to the shareholders and CEO, so I'm against "tipping," but when a game resonates with me, I do buy another copy. I always buy physical copies when available. If a game is boo-boo, like The Last of Us Pt 2, I'll sell it ASAP and get $40+ back, hopefully. But, when I love a game, I buy it digitally on PC or PS or both. I'd even buy copies and just give them away (when the economy was better). I bought The Witcher 3, 9 fucking times, and don't regret a penny spent.
Until companies stop overspending on pointless bloat or Pixar-level graphics for a 40-hour golden path, I'll keep replaying the Yakuza game, Fallout, Mass Effect, etc. I ain't a hype beast, they release a bunch of broken shit I'll gladly write a new Grey Warden and go back to Dragon Age.
Highly anticipated games are also coming out broken for $70 with micro transactions on top of that.
THIS is the real reason lol idk why he doesnt understand that newer triple A titles have been getting shittier
@@lonelypatios I feel like he's just trying to be a contrarian at this point. I don't know why gamers are expected to buy broken shit all the time.
NGL, this might not be everyone but I don't buy every game that drops when it drops because I'm struggling financially and I can't afford it, certainly not in multiples. For example, I'd love to be playing Dragon's Dogma 2 right now but I got rent to pay.
This is something the article doesn't seem to get. Not everyone has the disposable income to buy new games. Rent has gone from being 30% of the average person's monthly income to more than half of it in the last decade or so.
It’s a emphasis on the $70 because it’s also taxed out the ass since the government let them do that dumb shit. And ALSO every game doesn’t deserve the $70 price tag it’s actually really annoying tbh
Me personally, I’ve been waiting longer to buy new video games because it feels that the standard for gaming development has turned to “release a game under any condition and fix it later”
This is exactly what it is. MK1 is a recent example
Games are cheaper than before but sometimes also sell more copies than ever before
While we have battle passes, season passes and overall monetization that is a S.o.b.
Pre order and deluxe editions
Collectors editions that sometimes cost half of what a console costs
And broken and unfinished games that are still full price
lets not forget that most of the sales are digital so it save them a huge amount of money
@@00SPDI that too
Even when some game sales are 50/50, the profit margin is way higher than before
Also physical games barely cost anything in production for these big companies who also removed manuals in them
And physical sales are still high
At least i buy all new games physically
Never digital unless they're on deep sales
games are not cheaper than before. we had more buying power 10-15 years ago. $70 ($90 for me im canadian) on a video game is absolutely sick
@@berrex5152 A 70$ would have cost 50$ in 2010
The problem is that TRASH games are charging you $70 to play them. Most $70 games are garbage.
Lets be honest gamers cry about spending any amount of money. I have no issue paying $70 for a new game IF ITS A GOOD GAME. I got tired of getting pooped on so i got a pc where even new games can be found cheaper and only use console when games aren't cross play.
Like I said in highlights video, I hate when a counter service restaurant tries to ask for tips, because you like said, they aren’t doing anything extra. It would be like me asking a tip after fixing someone’s PC at my IT job
Everyone I know who plays older games uses the same rhetoric. “I’m not spending $70 on a game” so idk. I feel like a lot of ppl are just getting tired of the same old bullshit. The cash grabs, the heavy influx of microtransactions. Shit gettin out of hand
Growing up games were 40$ those times are long gone 😢
PS3 games were $50. PS4 games were $60 now games are $70 and aren’t even finished.
I knew you were gonna put that tippin clip in lmaoooo. The buildup was perfect
That tweet is diabolically greedy
I come from an era where Neo Geo games from SNK were $700 a piece. They were arcade exact but still.
Mr. Ybarra “Tee hee” 😂😂 4:20
I just wait for sales and buy games. And now a days I don’t even buy at release due to games being bugged at release. The gaming industry is now contaminated. We used to be in our own little world and then the “they” came and screwed it up
Letting this run in the background for the view time.
The reason why gamers don’t buy new games at lunch one they don’t want to increase their backlog last year was insane when it comes to games releasing back to back releases on the same day.
Also most gamers don’t have the money to spend on all of these games
I remember on this channel when some game came out in the 70 dollar trend and people in the comments were adamantly saying yea the game looks good still not paying 70 for it and the other half of the chat called everyone broke for complaining now look where we are 😂😂 I guess yall underestimated the consumer simple attitude of being content with playing 2k and fornite for 5 years plus. Serves the industry right I dont feel anything for them.
i see it a reupload. i thought you just did like 5 thumbnail tests to see what hit.
I get what dude was trying to say. Some games really sit well with me after I already finish it. But how do I further support the franchise? Buy there shitty merch 😂
This is how you support a game you love. I'm not tipping CDPR for the Witcher 3, but I will buy every dumb ass Wolf School t-shirt they sell.
@@Seoul_Soldier Yea, not a chance lmao
$70 price complaints are less valid because, *checks notes* people arent buying them as much. Ok.
hokage getting that modern gaming hot takes money
I wouldn’t care about paying $70 for a game if I knew that game would last me more than like a month of play before I get bored of the game most of these games have no real excitement just dropping bs & expect us to play them
I never paid for a DLC, never paid for no PS4 or Xbox One or Newer! If I wanna play I'll play and experience from my little brother. I just got into PC and you can experience older games we barely used to see in 4-8k Resolution. I also STILL play my PS3 and Xbox 360. No need to pay for Internet and pay for a subscription just to play games online. They took the fun away from games just to make newer games JUST ONLINE THEN SEPARATED CAMPAIGNS FROM THE ACTUAL GAME ITSELF JUST TO PLEASE ONLINE GAMEPLAY... PLEASE STOP MAKING RICH PEOPLE RICHER. THESE NEWER GAMES BEEN INCOMPLETE, THATS WHY THEY CHARGE YOU FOR STUFF THAT SHOULD'VE CAME WITH THE GAME
I bought my games later because of life but the $70 price tag has definitely stop me from copying a few games day one it's almost like an added deterrent so I don't mind it being $70 unless it's like a game from my childhood like final fantasy remake or something insane like that taking it I most likely will not spend 70 on it just paid $70 for dd2 though
A lot of games release unfinished/unpolished. I shouldn’t have to troubleshoot/wait for an update to fix issues. A game only deserves my hard earned money, when the game releases in a state it’s supposed to.
Some examples:
Cyberpunk 2077 was garbage at release
Dragon’s dogma 2 didn’t work for pc gamers
Helldivers 2 had server issues (they didn’t expect the game to blow up)
Starfield was underwhelming
Baldur’s gate 3 crashed a lot in the beginning
given how many hours I dump into these games, in the grand scheme of things, $70 isn't much for a game. But yeah valid point ... costs are going up, but our paychecks aren't, so they just pricing themselves out of the market lol.
The price of the game determines how strict the audience will be in forming their opinion of the game. Helldivers 2 was buggy af when it released but it was only $40 so the community allowed for it to get polished up. If your gonna tell me that your game is worth $70+ then when I load that game up I am gonna be an expecting a damn near flawless game.
WELCOME BACK ROUND 2
1080p 60fps should be standard nobody cares how pretty a game is if it runs like shit, also most of the money goes to marketing which why bother you don't need it just put up a video on a show for sony or xbox when it's ready with a release date and be done with it I actually ignore most games that are heavily marketed because just like mobile games its probably garbage
you can’t just throw Mike Jones in there and expect me to be a rational man at work
Midnight Club and Call of Duty Treyarch games are the top two best games a man could experience. All the adventurous games, KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING.
I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve been gaming for two decades straight and I never paid $20 vs $60 for a game. I don’t mind $70 games. I simply don’t like bad games at such a high price point.
I would love to see pocket friendly games come back. Bring back small developing teams like EA sport BIG!
I haven’t bought a new game in a while. That’s saying alot since I probably own close to 800 games digitally and physical. Been playing more gba and snes lately. They need to stop focusing on graphics so much.
Why buy a 70 dollar game when it’s goin to be on sale in the matter of a couple months
Especially when the micro transactions come into effect to
I’m mad about the 70$ game because of who started the trend
NBA 2K did.
1:19 tf she shooting at
These ai thumbnails be having me dying
Games are only costing more cause there not managing the money focusing to much on graphics, advertising, live service, investors instead the things that really matter. Witcher 3 just for example cost around 65 million including dlcs to make. In the long term AA and indie are a better investment .
I just clicked on the vid to and 10 seconds later in the vid thanos snaps😅
To be fair, most people dont play new games, because new games is ass. Where is the new prey? the new Portal, the new Last of Us, Ori will of the wisp. The new....Anything that is not straight up trash, made for quick grab money, and borderline requires your passport like Ubisoft? Dogsht games, with 10000000 different in game purchases, on a game I paid full price for. They sell me their sht, and spit on my face. I only play it, when it is on xbox. I downloaded rainbow six siege and then I feel dirty/nasty af.
Not going to lie, I wrote this like 20% in the video, I agree on the second half though
I’d quit gaming forever if we went back to the 2008 linear game styled games.
You forgot to mention though how MOST AAA games arent providing any value for $70 most of the biggest $70 games recently have had missing features or try to get you sign up for a battle pass. So why pay $70 for an incomplete product? Ill pay you $40 now ans the other 30 when its done
Thumbs up for Mac Miller Faces album, got that joint on viynl
I disagree with this logic. a lot of $70 games on launch are highly disappointing and scams. they sell you a half completed game for full price then expect you to wait months sometimes a year for it to be worth the $70 you spent.

Bro games for PS5 are like $100 each here in Canada.
I ain't mad about it but the present day of console gaming is for the rich man.
I'm done with consoles PC and Mobile here I come!.
I’ll pay whatever price for a video game ONLY AND I MEAN ONLY it has no bug on launch make games how they was back in the day everything on the disk. Then free DLC other then that I feel like that’s the only solution
good thing I already watched the video lol
Grand theft Auto 5 a prime Example of a Game that sucked the life out of people's time. Midnight Club was cancelled all to please people that do the same thing drive cars all day. People used to say can you get out the car. It's a racing game. But watching people play GTA online it's so boring because the only fun thing you can do is race in a straight line or kill each other with guns, planes, or alien bikes. Sure the game got different events but majority Don't really play that B.S. that's what basic people do. People like me want midnight club back. Even Modern Warfare and Enlisted try to Copy Black Ops Zombies. But they will forever be #1 at Call of Duty
Personally I think $70 is reasonable. A 2 hour movie costs like $25. You get way way more than 2 hours out of a game.
I mainly dont buy games not because its 70 but because you rarely get demos and cod takes up all my hard drive space lol
Bro, you’ve been talking about this study nonstop 😂
Watch we’re gonna find out it was botched jk jk but another correlative fact could be the fact that the price increase was one of the causes that led people to stop buying new games. Along with more gamers, starting to have to pay bills.
If the game is 80 or 100 it better be one of the best Videogames ever.
Steam sales ..... its so simple only 15% of games dont go on sale till after 1st year (baldurs gate 3)
Nah we play old games cause the price!! I wait for it to go on sale OR become free on psn!!
Thought it was a glitch in the matrix
why do you say the cost of game production is going up when it become easier than ever to make game with fewer people. the cost of creating digital art and entertainment has fallen and with the addition of ai it will be even easier
old to you...new to me 🤣. but games were always "expensive." if you want it...youre buying it.
In the last 3 years more trash games or games that are made for a particular fan base was made the best game that came out was bg3. Good games gets picked up ok games you wait for the price to drop and bad games close studios. Look at forspoken
Cuz I grew up on $50 games. $49.99 to be exact. I’m actually only buying em cuz they’re cheap lol

Did I just watch the perfect video?
Halfway through this but are you even accounting for how unfinished most newer games are at launch im a dev sympathizer but good fuck im not gonna happily fork over 70 bucks for a game that’ll be thoroughly complete in 1-3 years
Damn i got fount out lmao. I buy single player games that are like 2 years old when i can get it for like 20-25 bucks lol
I don't try new games specifically because they are too expensive. Just not worth it, when in can buy and old classic for sometimes 10 dollars. Less value. Simple. My friends are the same way
Come on bro it simple, why tf would people buy new games at launch if they $70 AND they're unoptimized. Ima need you to keep the conversation "high I.Q.".
Not every game is unoptimized at launch. Yes that's an issue for some, but I can name plenty of games that had no issues at launch and ran great, so respectfully I am keeping the conversation "high IQ" by not blaming one sole thing. Everything ain't black and white.
@@theblackhokage but you are presenting it being black and white in this video, and you are basing way too much on ONE study. Games are not of higher quality for the uptick in price, prices jumped from ~40$ to 70$ in a time span of 10ish years but in this time did we truly get better quality? For the past few years we only got maybe 5-10 really objectively good games.
You are also contradicting yourself by questioning if people want to pay for games when they are at a discount just because it's cheaper ( why not ), while later in the video you want rich people to check their privilege? Check your privilege lol. Do you think people buy games only in the USA? The 70$ price tag applies to a lot of countries.
And that argument for the games in the 90's how does that apply for today?
