Went into deep meditation in the middle of the street to protest ALL of the violence in the Vietnam War. As he burned alive he didn't budge, just fell over and died. All that was left was his heart which is on display in a museum as a symbol of truly brave men facing down evil giving hope to anyone oppressed.

True, once you take a second to realize what they are actually protesting for, it's a smart and reasonable protest.
Yeah when I heard that I thought “they can just look it up”. The list of demands is pretty simple and public, they want Columbia to not open a campus in Tel Aviv, and end their endowment fund that goes to weapons manufacturers and tech firms that work with the IDF
I get that Nick's go-to behavior when he doesn't know what to say is to pretend to be a moron, but this is a weird low.
If you reduce Nick's sense of humor down to its simplest form, it's basically "Everyone is an idiot"

@@PearceVaughn. I’m a combat veteran in my 30’s. It’s so lonely because none of the podcasts have a spot for me.
As someone who actually goes to Columbia, (1) I haven't gotten any free Chipotle nor do I know anyone who has; plenty of us didn't have access to dining halls for a couple days (2) many of us aren't white or rich (3) we know what we're protesting for and have outlined a clear, concise set of demands. Divestement isn't some ineffectual pipe-dream. Other big colleges, like Pomona, have done it and I'm not an idealist for not wanting my tuition money and tax dollars to be used for torture and mass destruction. Ik this is just some silly podcast or whatever, but its a bit weird how conversations about anyone who protests usually just write us off as bored, naive, or priveleged for giving a shit about an ongoing genocide. Better than just pretending people with moral/political conviction are cringe while modern-day mccarthyism screws any thread of democracy we have left.

Seems pretty reasonable.
Students have been protesting wars for decades and are always on the right side of history. It's one of the coolest and bravest ways to live. To sacrifice yourself for a principle is what stories and songs are made of. Acting like a coward because it personally benefits you is very American. I say that as an American because ive seen it. You don't climb any ladders on a boat you rock. look the other way because you don't want to see how ugly it is where you're going.

It’s honestly been a bit disappointing to see Nick through this whole thing. He used to be a super cool guy who played up his own stupidity but was still a very thoughtful guy who had principles and could discuss them. To see him shrugging off the obvious and reasonable demands of the students and leaning in to lazy “stupid woke college students waaaaah” boomer humour sucks to see.
