    Fab video Dora ❤
    I love your intro and music choice. Rain seems relentless lately doesn't it. We have to make the most of gardening when it's dry 😂
    Nice strong raised bed hoops. Happy gardening 🌻🌹❤️ x

    Thanks Dora, I know what you mean, its been a wet week or so, the change into Autumn has seemed extreme this year, we've gone form struggling to keep up with the watering and harvesting to everything dying off and having to clear spent plants ! The glasses really suit you, but I know exactly what you mean about the Chillies (and the rain) ! The squash will probably callous over, but it all depends on the weather and whether anything will move in to devour it, it's probably a result of the rain like Tomatoes splitting, we've had some split squashes last for months but they'll never last like an un-damaged one, we struggled with Butternuts, but have loads of Japanese Kiuri / Onion squash which make a lovely soup, lots of lovely self sown chard too !

      It has been quite the change you’re right! Thank you, I find contacts far more practical but wow I had to draw the line with poking myself in the eye with chilli fingers 😂
      So far nothing has got to it and I keep holding out and not picking… but tomorrow may be the day it finally gets brought into the kitchen! Soup is my plan too. I think you’re right about the splitting - I’ve had many split tomatoes unfortunately. Onion squash! Will have to look into those.
      Thanks for watching Andy!

    I would go ahead and harvest it. Your garden is coming along nicely. That basket looks really nice😊

      @doras.allotment  3 месяца назад

      I think I’m going to head back today to harvest it 😃 I did leave it a tad longer in the end - I inspected it yesterday and it was doing well, maybe the split had increased a little though!

    Hi Dora
    Glad to see it’s not just us who have been suffering with the rain! It has been relentless here 😖 but does make for a cost cuppa in the shed, I suppose ☕️
    Love the look of those hoops, they look like they will be used again and again and some lovely things picked up in the antiques shop too.
    Thank you for another cosy vlog. Have a great end to the week 😊🪴💚

      There has definitely been a generous douse of rain, that's for sure!
      The hoops are fantastic so far, would highly recommend for the cost. I bought the black hooped net from Amazon earlier in the year and this is far better for the ££.
      Thank you for watching, have a wonderful weekend 🌥️🌞

      Such a shame about your artichokes. Are you growing from seed or buying plants? It’s a fabulous spot so I’m not surprised, I think people travel quite far to visit!

      @doras.allotment I've always bought plants Dora so may try seeds in the new year and yes such a lovely part of the word we do like hobsons in Stratford cakes and pastries to fie for 😁

    I always leave my squash/pumpkin on the vines until they die off for maximum flavour. The splitting is caused by having a moisture pinch followed by wet, while actively filling the fruit. The split will always be a weak spot where fungal infection can enter. Sit it on something off the ground and keep an eye on it. From equally rainy day in NZ.😊

    • @doras.allotment
      @doras.allotment  3 месяца назад +1

      I've left it a tad longer and hope to harvest it tomorrow all being well... always appreciate tips for maximum flavour though, thank you! That would make sense as the weather has definitely been that way. I will be chuffed if I can make a soup with it this weekend, butternut squash soup is my favourite.
      Hope you've managed to get a break in the rain for some gardening over with you too! ☔️

      @@doras.allotment The ground is really squishy. Be a day or two before the garden gets looked at. Had about 50mm, further south it was 150-200mm. Glad to miss that.

    The weather forecast keeps changing, so it's difficult to work out the timing of showers. It's been bands of rain for weeks, and easy to miss any dry slots for getting some gardening done at the allotment. My raspberries have been going mouldy as they ripen in the rain.

    • @doras.allotment
      @doras.allotment  3 месяца назад +1

      Doesn’t it just!! I’m hoping to have an allotment day tomorrow and just HOPING the weather is on side. There’s only so much rain activity one can take 😂 hope you’ve managed to get out in between showers. Snap with the raspberries!

    Wow I can’t believe how much rain everyone is getting, we had a day of pouring rain and now it’s back to cold 🥶 but sunny. You got some jobs ticked off the list and sowing are doing well. I would store the butternut because if it’s going to be wet again it may rot off. Have a fab week, Ali 🌞🥶🇨🇦

      Hasn’t there been a lot!! Cold and sunny is my favourite weather (bar sunny and warm of course!). Thank you Ali ☺️ I think it’s time to pick it! I did leave it an extra week but I’m getting my hands on it tomorrow… hope it’s survived 🤞🏻

    Sorry I can't help with your cracked butternut squash diagnosis except to try Dr Google.
    The new basket looks very posh compared to the old rusty bucket I'm using.
    Thanks again for your lovely videos Dora .

      I’ve left it on for an extra week but I plan to pick it tomorrow… so I just hope it’s holding in there okay with all the rain we’ve had 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I shall update in my next video! I can’t wait to use it ☺️ then again rusty buckets have charm. Thank you George, so pleased you’re enjoying the videos

    I just want to say that when you buy something, you must buy in odd numbers
    for or not look good
    also something else
    you look good with glasses if no one has told you so

    • @doras.allotment
      @doras.allotment  3 месяца назад

      That is a rule that I suppose could make you buy more, or less.. 😂
