I have just started clearing my beds, Dora , weather permitting ! I do find a certain satisfaction in clearing a bed and preparing it for next season with the anticipation of new crops to come. Thanks for another interesting video.
What a lovely video, as per usual, Dora. I love sitting and enjoying the serenity that oozes when watching you. Thank you for producing such high quality videos for us to enjoy. The autumn clear out always looks more satisfying when you’re watching others do it. It can be a bit overwhelming with how much there is to clear at times can’t it? Very interested in the fermented chilli sauce. Pokey! I like that term. I might try it, I have a few left to harvest 😊
Aw thank you Clare, that's such a kind comment! 🥰 It really is a satisfying watch but the reality can be time consuming. I still find it quite a mindful task though and a good chance to reflect on the season. I think you're big clear away is probably more overwhelming as your produce levels are rather larger than mine ☺️ Haha let me know how you find the poke!
Looks quite sunny Dora but I know the weather is being fickle. We had some love.y sunshine yesterday but it absolutely poured today 🤷♀️. Looking forward to Danny’s live tomorrow, have a great day, Ali 🌞☔️☔️🇨🇦
Haha - we're fermented chilli hot sauce twins this week Dora! Well done on starting the big clear up - I'm looking the other way for now!! 🤣🤣 I'm like you - I like to know all the varieties! - but I also have one apple tree on my plot which is just - apple. 😂 It tastes good though, so I'm happy. See you this evening! 🤗🤗
Ferment twins! I may brave trying mine tomorrow now it’s been in the fridge for a week 😬 I think this may just be an ‘apple’! Was great to chat with you on @thegrowupchannel’s live last night! Look forward to seeing your next video ☺️
Your weeds look like Teasel at the end of their first year. We grew quite a few for dried flowers for our wedding. I’m trying out a perennial spinach substitute in our beds currently. Spring cabbages are in and I’ve chanced an early broad-bean sowing. Looking forward to your next instalment (and giving the chilli sauce recipe a go ourselves).
You're the second person who's said Teasel and I'm thinking that's very likely as I had a lot of Teasel heads last year, and I think they've spread generously. I do feel like maybe I should have left the odd one here and there now - I bet they were lovely for the wedding. Ooh wonder how the spinach will go - it's such a staple. I'm looking forward to getting the broad beans in too. Thanks for watching 😊
Good luck tonight Dora on your growUp debut and take no nonsense from that Danny . The national fruit collection might be able to help identify your apple , they have over 2,000 different varieties of apple growing at Brogdale farm in Kent .
your apple could be James Grieve as that's a dual purpose can be eaten Fresh but is excellent for juicing or cooking. Partially self fertile and is a mid season one. your mystery plant in the cage, I would guess they are seedlings from your Teasel.
Hi Dora lovely vlog as always, my allotment clearing going well apart from dodging the rain . Hope to see you on Heard it on the grape v8ne with Danny tomorrow ❤
Lovely vlog today and a very productive clearout, totally agree with spending some contemplation time, I took on a plot this year april/may and it was totally striped back to mud so starting from scratch but can't wait to have a green space to sit in and enjoy nature. My apple suggestion would be Braeburn.... Similar colour markings 🤔
Thank you Lisa! It did feel like a very productive day at the plot. It will be so worth it when you have your seating area! ☺️ thanks for the apple suggestion 🍏🍎
Great update Dora, beautiful day beautiful allotment, you got a lot of work done and worked really hard but it's all worthwhile isn't it , I have a small garden with raised beds and have already started the tidy up , it's rained constantly for the last few days and today pulled the remaining bollards beetroot so all I will have left are a few snowball turnips and a few small beetroot I can't remember their name lol but there red n white , look forward to your future videos hopefully I will continue to learn things to improve my raised bed garden xx Ps I've just started following you on Instagram too x
Thank you Jim, it was a productive day at the allotment! Goodness me there has been a lot of rain hasn't there. Thanks for watching and for joining me over on instagram too 🌞 happy gardening!
@DigwellGreenfingers that’s always a shock to the system!! I had one actually from a Turkish place near us, it looked like a big green grilled pepper but WOW the spice!!! Had me!
Morning Dora the chilli sauce looks amazing may be a bit hot for my pallet ! Im leaving my sweetcorn in a few more weeks had some good harvests but still got a few left.Do you have any tips on growing squash as thats on my to do list for next year ? ive just planted my garlic and will do shallots this weekend Happy Gardening Aaron
It is apparently meant to settle a little bit as it stays in the fridge, but the first taste was HOT... I need to try it again this weekend. In terms of squash, they're hungry so I think they enjoyed the rotted manure I put on the beds before planting. I must say I didn't really fuss mine, just let them get on with it - only watered when they were really young. Good luck! Ooh so exciting with the garlic - can't wait to get mine in!!
Hi Dennis. I don’t think it’s too early, the weather is certainly starting to drop so I’m sure they’ll be good! Mine has arrived in the post and I’m hoping to start planting it out soon! I don’t, I’d love to have a little stove or something at the plot but we don’t have fresh water so it makes things a bit more difficult
Beautiful sunny weather. I would say your little tunnel isn't really suitable for tomatoes. It's really more of a shade house. A clear plastic cover that traps heat and plenty of light would be more successful.
* This video was filmed in October, not September as per my edit mistake near the start of the video! Hope you enjoy ☺

Some nonsense was taken, but I can handle it 😂 thanks for joining us! That’s a great shout!
I've cleared Dora because despite new flowers ,squash and courgettes will not have time to ripen and I have young brassica plants ready to go in 🙂
Lovely! What brassicas have you got ready to go in? 🥦🥬

Love the chilli sauce. I need to do a fermented one to go along with my others. Next year now cos all I have left growing are jalapenos
Ooh love jalapeños though! I did see a snippet of your chilli tasting on Danny’s live 😂😂 spicy! 😬😬😬
@@doras.allotment LOL, yep, a rogue paprika. Never had such a hot chilli!

Planted some garlic last week and thinking it was to early 😕 some are poking through! Do you have a little kitchen there
