- In our premiere episode, we dive deep into the journey of Magnus Walker, a collector whose passion redefined what it meant to be a Porsche enthusiast with his iconic film, Urban Outlaw. It is no secret in today’s car collecting world that the idea of a numbers matching car holds greater value than one that doesn’t. Numbers matching typically refers to the engine, transmission, axles, and major components being original, true to their authentic engineering. There’s something about retaining the delicacy the factory put into building some of our favorite cars. In many collectors' eyes, nothing is more perfect than factory-original, even if it's not as powerful or not as tech-forward.
This may mean nothing to you, or this may mean the world in deciding whether or not a car is worth pursuing. In the first episode of My Porsche Story, Magnus Walker tells the story of how a numbers matching engine case for his 1975 930 Turbo actually found him. One could not have scripted a more perfect storyline in this window of time in the Urban Outlaw’s pursuit of rare Porsches - specifically, his dream Porsche, a first model-year 930. Magnus is a different kind of collector, unique in his overall approach towards life, and it was a pleasure filming him and hearing his story.
Living in an unorthodox Porsche world, he's a true rockstar of the flat-six. We sat down with him at his downtown LA warehouse for this interview and relived the days of the forums, diving into threads for answers and information that Chat GPT could never give us. It was awesome to hear about his pursuit for the perfect 1975 930 Turbo and how his purchase of a rolling chassis eventually landed him the engine case belonging to the car - all thanks to car forums.
The Porsche classic world has changed with aircooled cars making their way back to Porsche showrooms easily fetching six figure numbers. Magnus has been collecting these classic 911’s before the hype - way before the hype, back when a classic 911 would run you a few thousand dollars at most. So when it came to numbers matching, did Magnus pursue it for the added value, or did it just feel like something he had to have?
On behalf of Porsche Santa Clarita we look forward to sharing more of this series with you.

Such a legend, I've seen and met Magnus a few times out and about at different events...always so down to Earth and easily approachable.
Exactly 💯
I love this guy, Magnus is a legend.. Love his style!
Here in Southern Ireland I created a Magnus Tribute Boxster 8 years ago with my 2001 2.7. It is my 4th Porsche in 22 years and it has 75,000 miles and totally a reliable friend. I created a unique bonnet and rear boot wrap design, where spacers, bypassed and modified standard exhaust, front lower spoiler, rear boot spoiler, and new modified side air inlet covers and new poly bushes on all suspension arms.An ideal pensioners Hot Rod.
Drive it as is and drive it hard without worries of ruining the original case.
Looking forward to the RUF story!😊
Beau, just like everything you do, this was BRILLIANT !!! I can't believe I was the only person here to watch the premiere.
I'm recovering from a stroke/heart attack (somehow I caught pneumonia in early September) and it's videos like this that help me keep fighting. (Along with my Faith in GOD.)
I saw my 1st Porsche about 1972 & have been obsessed since.
Thank you! We will pass along this wonderful message to Beau! We are sending you good vibes and healing energy, Mark!
@@galpinmotors TYVM for your kind reply !!! I need all the positive vibes I can get !!! I pray I regain my health & get the $$$ to finally visit Galpin & drive the PCH.
Thanks again & much love to you all !!!
Hang in there 🙏❤️✨
Only Magnus would tell such a story. Love it
Great story and great video. Congrats Dave and the rest of Santa Clarita team!
We are so glad you enjoyed it!
Mad storytelling! Great work!
Thank you, Shane!!
Super having the matching case anyhow, all the bits there - good vibe
Magnus Walker love his passion for Porsche
Excellent production. Magnus is a very interesting character. Thanks for bring his story to us.
Thank you! Stay tuned! We have a whole season of amazing stories planned! Matt Farah's drops this Friday.
Never heard before about the story behind that Ice Green 930. Love MW.
This is a freaking amazing video. More please
Thank you! Stay tuned this Friday for Matt Farah’s Porsche Story!
Such a cool series and the best way to kick it off with Magnus! He is THE man! So good! Love that the engine case he fought so hard to get is sitting on a shelf, haha. So gangster! 🤘🏼⚡
Love the history and that Magnus is keeping it interesting with the case on the shelf. For a rainy day perhaps. Til then, drive the F out of it! Let's go!
Great video, I enjoyed his 930 turbo story. Also, this was shot really well! Especially loved the flashback scenes, very cool. Keep them coming, liked and subscribed!!!
Thank you! We are working on more right now and will be releasing the next several episodes as we complete them! Stay tuned!
I'm born in 75 so lovin' this 😅 also love the 930 so that helps too
😂 “I don’t even look at it.” I know the feeling though. Even without the original case in the car, it’s satisfying to know that he does have the whole car as it left the factory in his possession.
Dumbledore and the Magic Broom Porsche
I like his style.
I'm shocked that Magnus hasn't put the case in. But he is his own man, why we love him so much!!
I assume no actual need, he could just sell it with the car one day and someone else do it
Love Magnus. My Porsche story is I was a few years away from getting a 930/964 (my dream cars) then Magnus, RWB, Singer started popping up and drove the prices upwards. I still don’t have one😢
Cool Dude
Great video, I've got a 1989 930 Turbo (amongst others) and I have a cool Porsche story of how I got started, and I may just record it one day, thanks for the inspiration.
We’d love to hear it! We’re always looking for new stories!
My story is: I’ve got what is probably the only flat black (Lesonal 704) 1978 930 you’ll ever find.
Thanks, great story
Can’t wait to own a Porsche 🔑
great story told well.
Magnus Walker is the Porsche equivalent of Ken Block. He gets treated like he invented Outlaw Porsches, and Americans like him because he's eccentric, but he's known more for his personality than any actual achievement. Ken Block's fans (children and Americans) acted like he was a WRC champion, when he was actually pretty terrible at that level of motorsport, but his personality and drift videos made him a household name. I often wonder if Ken would have had the same career if Colin McRae hadn't died when he did. McRae was a bona fide great of motorsport, loved globally. I could have seen him doing some pretty wild Hoonigan-type videos.
Hopefully that translated ok!!
@@galpinmotors perfect! 😉
Thank you so much
So good
The Urban Outlaw himself.
Refreshing to hear them say the name right- so many don’t know how to properly say it
This series is covertly an initiative to get people to do just that. ;)
The life lesson is to cover your bases just in case you change your mind. That leaves less chance for regrets.
Hahaha - genius and madness are so close. Magnus is a real one off.
GT3RS life 😎 👊🏾 lizard Green🦎
Air cool life 😎
"...there's a life lesson in there somewhere!!!" ;)
My favorite line in there.
👌🏾❤️👌🏾
There's a life lesson somewhere in there.
Yu0
My favorite line of the episode.
The storty is cool, Magnus is cool, filming is cool. But the editing is complete garbage. 06:00 - wtf is this cropped thing?
faltou a legenda em português
Vamos trabalhar nisso e garantir que adicionemos legendas em mais idiomas! Obrigado por nos avisar!
Here's a porsche story for you. Too expensive to buy when it's new. Too expensive to buy when it's old and proclaimed a "cult classic".
And then there is the 996, you can still drive a Porsche 911 for under $30k
@@xavier787pr No you can't because the cylinders go oval and mentioning the IMS is beating a dead horse. It's a $35K minimum for a rebuild of the engine without those flaws.
Ok Poor
@@GarlTsagan Did you know a base Carrera starts at $200K in Europe? Would you buy a base stripper Carrera not even a GT car for $200K rich man? Is that good investment rich man?
Here's a Porsche story for you. If a Porsche IS Too expensive for you there are Miatas, go and test one... ❤
Excuse me BEAU pip my ride where is your mustache sir. Put it back!!!
Never interested what Gandalf has to say about cars
Yet here you are! 🙏🏻 Stay boosted
