We are getting this code on a 2016 Legacy 3.6. It runs as smooth as ever but the code will come back after 10-20 miles and is annoying because cruise control won’t work and abs light will come on too. How can you tell if the sensor is bad?

    • @nestorautorepair
      @nestorautorepair  4 года назад

What are the common causes of code P2088?
Common causes of code P2088 could include the following-
Damaged, burnt, shorted, disconnected, or corroded wiring and/or connectors
Low system voltages caused by defects in the battery and/or charging system. Note however that these conditions will almost invariably be indicated by dedicated codes
      Defective Oil Control Valve
Misaligned timing marks due to careless assembly after major repairs to the timing system or assembly of an engine. Note that this will usually be indicated by codes other than P2088, such as codes relating to excessively advanced or retarded valve timing
Failed or failing PCM. Note that this is a rare event, and the fault must be sought elsewhere before any control module is replaced
What are the symptoms of code P2088?
Common symptoms of code P2088 could include the following-
Stored trouble code, and possibly an illuminated warning light
Other codes relating to misfires or exhaust emissions may be present
Hard, or even no start conditions may be present in some cases
The engine may exhibit some power loss
      Idling speed may fluctuate
Idling may be rough, and/or erratic, or the engine may not idle at all
      Fuel consumption may increase
Catalytic converter damage or failure may occur due to poor combustion
Vehicle may not pass an emissions test

I have a 2015 WRX FA20 and have received P000A and P000B Codes for the past 10,000 miles. Over that time I have replaced all the oil control solenoids at least three times… every single one. I have replaced the timing chains, the AVCS gears. The codes will clear and stay away for a couple weeks but continue to come back. The cams look clean, no debris in the oil … oil is always full and clean. Anyone else having similar issues? I’m not sure what else to replace or change. I have nearly disassembled this entire engine

Is this code still coming up? I’m getting one on a 2016 Legacy 3.6. Didn’t have the problem until we took to a garage for something completely different and I suspect they did something to the car to get us in there for more repairs. Not sure what to do…

@@jimbo3615 yes unfortunately… no codes for 500-1000 miles after replacing another solenoid, but then I would get a P000A,B,C,D code… no idea what was causing this. It was acting like the solenoids were going bad. I would replace the solenoid that matched the code and everything was fine for a few weeks or so. I never found out what it was. I sold the car a year after this issue started. Good luck… this was a pain
