    Last week I bought a 2024 Land Cruiser 1958 optioned with rubber mats, rock rails, grappler tires, a heated steering wheel, and gorgeous 2 tone leather heated seats (aftermarket but done by dealership) and I paid $61k. I was skeptical of the 4 cylinder hybrid but after driving it, I was impressed by the torque, handling, and comfort. I test drove the Lexus GX550 as well but I couldn’t justify the extra $14k for features I really don’t need, especially when it drove VERY similar to the Land Cruiser.. Also prefer the look of the LC 1958 with the round headlights…I think it will age better. I took the Land Cruiser on a 500 mile road trip this past weekend (mostly highway) and averaged about 18-19 mpg. It’s lower than expected due to the grappler tires. Not impressed with mpg but still better than my 2017 G wagon (AMG G63) which gets about 13 to 14 mpg on that same trip. Overall, extremely happy with the LC 1958. Many of these comments are out of touch with new car pricing in 2024. Prices are up about 40% across the board on all car brands since 2019. Toyota is selling Corollas for $25k, stripped, $30k for one decently equipped. LC 1958 is a great truck for $58k to $60k. For $74k, you should look at the Lexus GX550.

    This has not replaced the 200 series, this is a model below that series aka Prado in other markets. The replacement for the 200 series Landcruiser is the 300 series which is available in other markets except the US. The reason behind this is most likely sales and the cost of the Landcruiser 200 series in the US. Toyota includes the wording Landcruiser with multiple model variations.

    • @MaddNomad1015
      @MaddNomad1015 6 месяцев назад +1

      It did replace the 200 series in the U.S. lol
      I think the 250 (Prado) harkens back to the real Landcruiser anyways, which is what they were going for per Toyota

    • @melvinbartlett6894
      @melvinbartlett6894 6 месяцев назад +3

      @MaddNomad1015 it's a different model and not a direct replacement. The direct replacement would be the 300 series. The heading is factually incorrect. It should list the model/series/ Landcruiser.

    4:37 that is very disappointing that Toyota stopped providing an independent turn signal. I don't really mind the color but a different bulb/unit from the brake/tail light. Weird that they went that way now that the domestics are going with that safety feature. Even the F-150 have amber rear turn signal now!

    I loved the older land cruisers but the new ones are sweet as well. I get the v8 wants but these new technology with 465 torque etc have made these very nice. Plus the heads up display etc are perfect. Let’s face it not many Land Cruiser owners are not off-roading every day. In fact many probably never leave the highways. They buy them for size, convenience and most of all the likelihood of driving 3-400k miles in their lives with little to no issues.

    • @normanli7085

      But this is not the old land cruiser that u are thinking about. This is a land cruiser prado, and it is a lite duty land cruiser sold overseas, until now. That never had a v8, unless you get the lexus version called the GX that came with a v8 from the 1st and second generations. Now, it's a twin turbo v6, but some people rather get the hybrid max of the LC 250 for improved milage, but only slightly less horsepower and torque

    Overpriced... Toyota lately has gone insane with their pricing let alone how these new models have less features for the price. I'm in no way a Ford fan, but their Bronco has similar and some cases, more features for much less (wouldn't trust it long term), but damn - Toyota is definitely dropping affordable cars in favor of "luxury" light cars that cost the same as their premium brand Lexus. Just like how pick up trucks have suede and leather seats with almond milk latte warmers for you to load a bag of groceries from Whole Foods - this "land cruiser" is ridiculous

    • @vjmtz
      @vjmtz 5 месяцев назад

      I agree that Toyota's are insanely overpriced, BUT to be fair, they earned it - they have zero competition by most brands out there. Their reliability and MPG is pretty much unmatched...only other Japanese cars can compeitie there at best. And sense you mentioned the Branco...most of those are trash except 1 trm that costs about 50k. No offense if you rather get bang for the buck, but Fords just can't be reliable as a Toyota. Toyota is expensive because they know most people will pay a small fortune for that - which sucks, but they aren't wrong in it. Kia and Hyuandais are exploding or their transmissions are just falling part under 40k miles. I'm not happy with Toyota pricing, but if you are going to spend a ton of cash, at least it will work past 100k easily. Its just one of those things you have to weigh out now. Reliability/high cost/less features vs. Nice features/less reliability/less MPG
