I do love this Toyota Sequoia & I feel that Toyota went over & above when it comes to making a nice nice interior. Well done by Toyota! I'd like to see Toyota make a Sequoia L for longer wheel base.
The previous generation DID have an independent rear suspension. The third row seating was actually usable by adults, and the cargo area behind it was still usable. By going to a hybrid system and reverting back to a solid rear axle, they ate into the third row/cargo space and took a step backwards.
To me, it’s about the price point. Lexus GX and TX have more luxurious exterior and interior design but they also have more plastic inside than the Sequoia. The dash on the TX also a bit loose when I grab and shake it a bit.
@RangeRoland, mmm, honestly, the Toyota versions, including the sequoia, have more luxurious interiors, while the Lexus Exteriors aren't more luxurious on the outside
People don't understand how toyota do business. Toyota want grand highlander to sell and sienna. obviously if they give this car alot of cargo space. Then it would take alot of sales away from grand highlander and sienna.
It's pretty disappointing when a vehicle this large has minimal to no cargo space. While it may be great for hauling people around town, I can see myself getting frustrated during our annual road trip. Having to spend extra on a roof cargo carrier or even a hitch cargo box-which aren't cheap and can be unsafe-just feels like a hassle.
Wait, so how did the Toyota Sequoia go from 120 ft.³ of space down to 87 ft.³ of space. In hindsight that is only 3 ft.³ more than the Toyota Highlander that says a lot.
This vehicle really needs improvement.. was looking to lease it but when I saw the trunk space and the 3rd row seating I decided to go with the wagoneer. way better trunk space and much better 3rd row seating for adults.. really spacious and comfortable. I think Toyota designers are missing something in their brains .. I'm very happy with the wagoneer from right quality quit cabin smooth drive and huge space . Only thing I like from the Toyota is the handsome look
A little disappointed in the rear cargo and seating, the Grand Highlander iForce Max seems to be a better choice especially in mpg ratings if you don't need that much towing capacity. Also in your noise level test, how come the Capstone is much louder than the Limited or Platinum trims?
This thing is badass. Im getting a new vehicle next year. Toyotas are known for being superior but the trunk space isnt worth it. They should make a version similar to the surburban, expedition max, yukon xl, ext. Currently I have decided on the surburban with diesel engine.
Good morning gentlemen. Good review video for the 2025 Toyota Sequoia. An additional trim level is always good for any vehicle and that was nice Toyota added one for the 2025 model year. Another additional thing was the massaging seats. That'll be needed for a vehicle like this one. Due to the fact that Toyota made the Sequoia to compete with the other full size SUVs, they came up short though. They came up short by not having overall interior space and not having enough cargo space. Generally speaking, they should've made the overall length of the vehicle 210 inches long. That's the same length for the Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon and Ford Expedition. Jeep Wagoneer comes in at 214 inches long. This is why these competitor vehicles have more overall passenger space and more cargo space over the Sequoia. As for cargo space, even the Toyota Grand Highlander has more cargo space than the Sequoia and that's a smaller vehicle. Another blemish for the Sequoia is that the second row seats are fixed in. Can't be moved via sliding back and forth. Hopefully for the next generation Sequoia, Toyota might address these blemishes. If they do, that would be great!
Owned a Gen 1- did not get a Gen 2 because of the cheap interior. This one looks only a bit less plasticky. Overall for the $$$ there are several better options in my opinion. The weird set-up alone for the 3rd row is enough to make this a pass for me. Looks good though...
So glad that they actually measure the cargo area. Giving people the volume means absolutely nothing. That’s only numbers for the auto makers to brag about pointless measurements
For all its faults, its the best looking one in that bracket. Best drive too imo. Really hope they just went with a normal v6 twin turbo non hybrid and avoided the storage problems.
No one who has any experience driving other fullsize SUVs would say this Sequoia has the best drive- it's simply false, uninformed and or biased information. The ride quality is among the lowest of this segment- it's worse than the outgoing Seqoia that was over 15 years old.
@wowmawc no one is buying a fullsize suv to be nimble and if they wanted that they'd get a real Land cruiser with KDSS. You're creating a metric that doesn't exist so this mediocre, poorly engineered product can look like it's relevant when it isnt
Toyota missed an opportunity to make this sequoia bigger to compete with others. But in my opinion, the twin turbo v6 hybrid max engine will be the best engine in the near future. I have it in my tundra and it is an awesome engine. Very smooth, powerful and has so much torque in under 2k rpm.
Love sequoia, had a 2007 , 15 , 17 and now 21 and all these new fitures I love it however that cargo area blew me off . I am thinnking of going with tahoe this time
This looks awesome but I absolutely love my 2018 sequoia. The room, comfort and the fact that is paid for is even better. Also the v8 is so smooth and powerful! This black sequoia looks amazing in my opinion!
Rear shelf system and non-removable or flat 3rd row is horrendous mistake. They need to correct that in order to be competitive in the segment. SO want this SUV, but that cargo fiasco is disqualifying.
My aunts have a 2024 capstone, it’s really nice. Don’t let that V6 fool you, that truck will get up and move and sounds so brawny. And it moves in style, boy does this look really good. Better than the Tahoe imo. Especially this black on black one. Features are adequate for the price but Toyota should really invest in an air suspension for the front and rear. Because my aunt has a capstone those 22’s can feel harsh on big bumps or uneven roads. Not the worst ride quality of course but not as good as it can be. Space isn’t a problem for them either because they don’t use the 3rd row however, Toyota should’ve stuck with the independent axel (I think that’s what it called correct me if I’m wrong) that was on the previous. This behemoth of a vehicle with that little bit of cargo room behind the 3rd row is crazy because the smaller brother, the grand highlander which is dimensionally smaller in size has more interior space than this and the similarly Price on certain trims Lexus TX.
17:02 the worst use of cargo space , a big hole between the 2 nd /3rd row , pluses .. solid rear axle , shorter wheel base and grille over the tundra and the 7.25 ' cargo load floor so no need for a roof top tent , as most crew cabs have 5.5'box and have to buy a camper topper or rack and roof top tent
I work as a valet attendant drove multiple sequoia, for the price of it, it felt cheap inside even the drive itself it felt hallow something like that.
I really like this truck and it was in my top 2 to purchase, however, the engine issues with the Tundra (same engine), 3rd row seating limitations, and lack of rear cargo space are large red flags for me right now.
My neighbor is the general manager for the local Toyota dealer and he’s been asking me nearly daily to sell my wife’s 2021 Sequoia Limited 4x4. Offering me 5k more than market value. Says he’ll sell me a new Sequoia $2,500 under invoice. Giving away all of his holdback. It’s tempting, but the new Sequoia’s seats are rock hard whereas as my 2021 seats are plush and you sink into them.
The Toyota Sequoia is a solid choice! It's a big SUV with plenty of room for family and gear. Plus, it's got a strong V8 engine and good towing capacity.
Absolutely not. The new generation Sequoia has WAY less room than the previous generation Sequoia. It has JUST 10 Cubic feet behind the third row compared to like 21-24 cubic feet in the Tahoe and Grand Highlander. There are many problems with the new generation compared to the old generation. It had reliability issues, engine issues with the twin turbo system and even issues with the I-Force Max Hybrid system. Plus, it doesn’t have a V8 anymore and has 3.5L TT V6 with the hybrid system which still gets poor MPG… sucks.
Nice, but for the money no. The cargo area absolutely kills it for me. This vehicle really should have been the new Land Cruiser. The new Land Cruiser should just be a new overall vehicle since it’s so much smaller than what a LC usually is. Plus the new LC is seriously way overpriced as well. Looking forward to the 4Runner review, hopefully Toyota didn’t miss the mark. I still have my 2005 and it may be time to trade it in..
Nooooo don’t do that, keep your 2005 4Runner, update it (grill, headlights, taillights, rims, suspension lift maybe, head unit, install some usb chargers, electronic rear view mirror and some led interior lights, paint correction) for about $5,000 tops or less
Fun note: The Land Cruiser 250 (in the US) is more or less the same size as the Land Cruiser overseas. It's about an inch shorter but same width and is an inch wider. Same wheelbase
I own the Capstone and it's nice but has some downsides for sure. The cargo area sucks for day to day living. The MPG is horrendous. I did a 500 mile road trip and averaged 16.8mpg on the highway. It's big and rides pretty well. Overall I know it will last forever and will hold it's value well.
Don’t they call that the nightshade edition with all the trim pieces in black I believe that’s what they call the Tundra with black accents on the platinum
Also Sequoia Tundra should has the customer service option pay like( $ 2,000 ) buy 5.7 V8 hybrid and same trasmisión People buy 🤔 with this option..... like Dubai Hiroshima 300 LC Hybrid Diesel/Petrol engines.... what's your guy's thing 🤔?
I think this is one of the most terrible cargo spaces I have seen in a SUV. I want to give it to Toyota that the space is limited due to the spare tire below.
For an SUV this massive, I really would have thought Toyota would have sorted out the third row seating. They should at least give people the option to order these without the 3rd row and a rear 3-seat bench. That 3rd row just destroys the usable height in the rear. Layout of a minivan without the cargo capacity. What a shame, otherwise a gorgeous vehicle.
This. My neighbor is the general manager of the local Toyota dealer and he’s offered me 5k more than market value for my 2021 Limited 4x4. Apparently he can sell it for more than a 2024 model.
i’m not a Yota fan boy by any means, but factually speaking, the Sequoia was spared from the recalls due to the hybrid battery being a fail safe in case the engine does go bad, which hasn’t affected the Sequoia much. I’m just being fair here
This doesn't apply to the hybrid models but only the blocks that weren't properly cleaned which are the non hybrid Tundra and lx600s. People forget the lexus ls500 has had this engine since 2018. My 2018 ls500 has 99k miles and my 2022 Capstone has 53k miles on it. I also have a 2010 5.7 tundra with 293k and a 2013 ls460l with 130k miles and unfortunately The new ttv6 blows the v8. Waaay more torque and I get almost 24mpg on the highway with my Capstone. My 2010 averages 14mpg. Both have 34in mud tires
Luv the body style of the Sequoia, hate the auto running boards. I see Navigators, Escalades and Suburbans with hanging auto running boards bcz they failed and here in the Midwest, there's snow and salt so they fail prematurely even sooner.....
That cargo space is a deal breaker in a vehicle that big. Forget the Tahoe... even it's little sibling the Traverse has more cargo space - no exaggeration. Sure, you can load up the family for a road trip... as long as you don't bring any bags. 🤪
This third sequoia generation is a glorified 2007 tahoe; non cargo space with third row up neither third row comfort. The should have made an extended wheelbase variant to offer true competition to the Michigan trio SUVs.
That pumped in fake audio is absolutely terrible. For a moment, I thought there was a Harley Davidson motorcycle riding near you. For a 'luxury' Platinum model, I would expect a quieter interior. Hopefully, that fake, pumped in audio can be turned off.

Yup, this is a massive step back form the previous generation. Same with the new 4runner and Tacoma. Electrification is robbing capability.
It looks very similar to the GM Tahoe, Traverse, GMC, and Jeep Cherokee. It seems to have copied the designs of several cars.

The third row and cargo area are terrible. This kills it for me.
Where’s the rear entertainment center
Luv the body style of the Sequoia, hate the auto running boards. I see Navigators, Escalades and Suburbans with hanging auto running boards bcz they failed and here in the Midwest, there's snow and salt so they fail prematurely even sooner.....
Please compare this to Armada 2025. You may get 200K views if you also compare to Yukon and Tahoe.
You're going to really enjoy the comparison coming this Sunday... 😁
That cargo space is a deal breaker in a vehicle that big. Forget the Tahoe... even it's little sibling the Traverse has more cargo space - no exaggeration.
Sure, you can load up the family for a road trip... as long as you don't bring any bags. 🤪
TOYOTA you got rid of the roll down window in the back omg whyyy
TUNDRA!!!
Should be two " Baker's Dozen " ‼️
This third sequoia generation is a glorified 2007 tahoe; non cargo space with third row up neither third row comfort. The should have made an extended wheelbase variant to offer true competition to the Michigan trio SUVs.
I think I like more the grand highlander.
No second row bench is a huge miss.
It looks very similar to the GM Tahoe, Traverse, GMC, and Jeep Cherokee. It seems to have copied the designs of several cars. 😢
That pumped in fake audio is absolutely terrible. For a moment, I thought there was a Harley Davidson motorcycle riding near you. For a 'luxury' Platinum model, I would expect a quieter interior. Hopefully, that fake, pumped in audio can be turned off.
2025 Toyota Sequoia Hybrid Platinum 4X4 Blackout Package!
Put the v8 back in. Turbo engines will wear out faster.
