The only thing that keeps me from buying this is the lack of space available behind the 3rd row. I just can't.
Same here. Wish they offered a 5 seater option, or at least the ability to remove the 3rd row seats
They need to make the grand sequoia asap
It's just so strange how its only 2" shorter than a Tahoe, but has 35% less cargo capacity. The solid rear axle vs IRS really hampers things for it. I was shocked at how much body undulating and poor control the Capstone version I drove. I really wish they would've kept the IRS suspension to improve interior comfort and cargo, plus ride comfort.
@@hellkitty1014 Its not just the Solid Axle, I think that is where the hybrid batteries are as well
@@hellkitty1014 35% less cargo but also 100% less garbage car manufacturing vs the Tahoe... I can't even fathom people in today's day and age with the amount of data on reliability that would buy any American made hunk of junk still. It truly boggles my mind. The numbers are out there... its not even like they can hide it anymore... 100% confirmed Chevy / GMC is pure trash compared to Toyota...
My parents own a Capstone Sequoia and it's been amazing!
I bought my Sequoia 3 months ago , I love it, so far I haven’t got issues with cargo space , and a couple of time when I took the whole family on trips ( 6 adults, two kids , and the second time 7 adults and two kids ) I just used my aluminum basket on the hitch receiver
Very Nice car thanks again for good présentation 💪🏿💯✅🙏🏿👍🏿
Love your video cars
Excellent review as always!😸
Would love to see a night shade model on the Capstone trim
You guys have a great channel. Keep up the great work!
Thank you!
It’s very nice!
I wish every trim offered a second row bench
Haven’t been this early in a long time!
Was your resell value analysis done before of after the engine recall?? 🤪
Awesome review!
Thanks!
Can the nightshade be had with a bench seat?
❤❤❤❤❤❤ with the super high headrests on the second and third rows blocking the rear view, when change lane to the passenger side, does one still check your shoulder for blind spot incoming traffic 🙏🙏🙏
The rear view camera mirror solves the problem of headrests. Always do a shoulder check.
Do your own research folks. The new V35A twin turbo V6's on these things are having catastrophic engine failures at low miles which cost around $35,000 to fix. That said this is a really nice looking truck.
Do you have a source for this?I have a 24 Capstone with 12k miles, and no issues whatsoever. I also know several Sequoia owners who have not had any engine issues.
@@kennyeubanks6089 Scour the forums. People are definitely having issues with the main bearings. Those go and the engine grenades costing $35,000 to fix/replace. Also 12k is still low. You may have problems soon. Although some have reported problems well before 12k.
That is the non hybrid that is have most of the problems, the sequoia only has the hybrid
It's only for the non-hybrid engines. Do your research.
@@andyleo8418 Learn to read. I said the new V35A twin turbo V6's they use on new Toyota and Lexus models.
11 cub feet behind the 3rd row? Is not that the same amount as Mistubishi outlander?
Idk. I probably want a Tahoe or a Yukon or suburban
New GMs aren’t making it past 100k tho, but I get it
These don't make 10,000 with 100,00 engines recalled for metal contamination and more to come. Every manufacture has there problems and Toyota has plenty!
@@musclecarsrt2324 Read some numbers... Historical 100% fact... GM makes trashpanda vehicles... its mind boggling anyone would buy anything from GM at all, with the information so easy to get now... It's easy to understand how people might have been fooled in the past... hard to find information in magazines... but now.. no excuse... People who buy GM deserve every ounce of misery they will get from owning those junk heap vehicles.. truly boggles my mind that anyone with half a brain would spend this kind of money on a GM... Truly TRULY mind boggline
I would buy it but rn i wouldnt do to all the current recalls with the engine
supposedly the hybrids havent been having problems, but id stil wait 2-3 model years to let them sort out issues
Thats with the tundra
It looks like this is bigger and more luxurious than GX550. It would be nice if the GX550 + are as big as this with a better cargo room.
I cannot buy one, but can buy two🙏❤️
Thank God I have a 2017 platinum! Done with Toyota.
or a infinity qx80 autograph
really nice car. Just so worried about toyota turbo engine recall and would not considering buying for at least two or three years.
Hey guys, thanks for the review! How do you guys feel (12:04) about the middle row seats not being able to slide at all? Is this the same thing on the top trim as well? What are the other 3-row SUV's in this segment that also do not have the ability to slide the 2nd row seats at all?
Yes, no version offers sliding second row, which is an insane oversight. They're thinking was the 3rd row could be for max capacity and zero legroom, or vs versa.
the small truck storage is a deal breaker for a suv of this size
Americans always love BIG trucks and SUV.
The side profile doesn’t look as bad in white, the front and rear ends just look underbaked to me. It’s sad to know that this vehicle has just recently been recalled as well.
Hybrids have been their saving grace but I think if Toyota doesn’t figure this segment out they’ll end up discontinuing the Toyota Sequoia and Lexus LX.
Twin turbo V6 3.5L? Sounds like the same troubled main engine bearing failure that has hounded the Tacoma and the new LX600.
It’s the powertrain of the Tundra
Lots of issues with this. I’ve owned my platinum model
for 4 months and I’ve lost 2 hitch covers. They come off with simple car washes (never had an issue for my other 3 vehicles at the same carwash). The day after I got it back from replacing my second hitch cover the volume knob broke off. The clips that hold things on in these appear to suck. I hate that the second row doesn’t slide to allow the 3rd row to have more room if you’re hauling luggage which actually really can’t happen because back space is nonexistent. There’s not good back storage at all. For such a huge SUV I’m shocked at how small the cargo is. We can’t even do a family beach trip in this thing! The JBL sound system is lacking. It doesn’t sound like the concert you’re paying the upgrade price for. Already looking at a new amp. 😒 It’s really spacious for the 1st/2nd rows, storage is great for the front seats. It’s got really smooth acceleration and a quiet cabin. Moon roof is freaking awesome. But I’m starting to regret my $80k purchase. I should’ve gone with the Escalade or Yukon.
So is Toyota trying to put a hybrid powertrain in all of their vehicles now?
Yeah since all car brands are forcing to make EV cars Toyota still want to make gas powered but to keep up with the competition they decide to make hybrid instead of going full EV.
Woke junk
I have a Toyota and Lexus hybrid - love both
only if the second row seats do slides to manage passenger space all the way to the 3rd row. also 60/40 split should switch 😂. lee way for the 2025 tahoe
Come out with an XL model already..
Nice looking 👀
Everyone harping on the third row cargo. You’re shopping the wrong vehicle #1. It’s obvious the hybrid battery is what took away the cargo space. In my opinion this vehicle is NOT targeted for those in the stroller/toddler stage where you need the third row space and also have no more than 2-3 kids and get the bench seat version . This way the third row is always down.
Fixed position second row seats? Next
Right now... it sounds crazy... but I'd rather buy the Bronco in a heart beat.
❤❤
Traded Mazda CX90 with under 2300 miles and payed off rest of our Sequoia TRD pro! We absolutely love it!!! I seriously don’t get the complaints? Simple if you have 2 kids great anything bigger and you’re gonna need a bigger ride. And those crying about MPG??? Yall are drooling over Tahoe and ford when they barely grab at 15 mpg if that. Like I said we love it and the value holds. Very nice ride
What didn't you like about your CX90 that got you to trade it in that soon?
Main turnoff for me is the cargo space and 3rd row. The trunk space is very lacking for road trips enough to where this was a deal breaker for us. Its unfortunate cause I would love something with the reliability of a toyota. Rented an escalade for a road trip and that thing was perfect for it - slid the second row seats forward a bit to give the 3rd row better space with enough trunk space for 3 full size travel suitcases plus other misc stuff. Very comfortable and rode fantastically, but id be concerned about reliability to own one personally
Yet you can’t even fold the 3rd row flat in the sequoia…
Can Toyota just make a freaking Grand Sequoia … I would buy it tomorrow
The Sequoia has the same platform as the Tundra, and they haven't gotten bigger than that.
Sold my 24 tundra with the same engine because of the engine bearing issue.
This and the Tundra only two vehicles Toyota produces that have any "wow" factor. Don't believe the headlines but would still wait on the 2025 as battery electric vehicles continue to plunge. Still this has been a great model re-do unlike the Tacoma et al which have been really bad. Verdict: how long can the Rav4 carry the entire Enterprise again?
2024 Toyota Sequoia Hybrid Limited 4X4 Nightshade Special Edition!
Easiest one of my favorite SUVs. Sadly way out of my price range.
ins't this been recalled bc of exploding engine? made in japan😂
Not a good to buy any 3.4 Toyota right now until they fix the engines
Great looking vehicle just terrible reputation with this generation rn with the twin turbo engine... This and the tundra
The side of the front seat has a bad finish 😝
Looks big from the exterior but the interior looks cramped, would pass even for the high price.
It's very telling when you see a lot of GM SUV's sitting used at Toyota dealers.
They wanted to give Toyota a try before the refreshed Tahoe and Yukons came out??
You should get this in replacement of the Hyundai.
This is darn nice for a a Toyota! But not that nice. Given the reliability concerns I would heavily favor throwing my money toward something better.
While I'm a huge Toyota enthusiast, I just don't see the value here at $80k+.
Additionally, Toyota is famous for offering lousy interest rates/lease deals. If you get it for $80k out the door, you're looking at an $1,100 payment WITH $10k down and 5% for 72 mos.
MPG has essentially become irrelevant in a world where most vehicles 'require' premium octane. Cost per mile is a far more accurate indicator.
Yea, the V8 got 15, and this gets 20mpg.........................But the V8 used 87 octane. 93 octane costs 25% more here so the added 5mpg is basically a wash.
Palisade/Telluride is 12" shorter and has identical cargo space. Figure that out.
A shame that they only offer things like Heads up Display on the top trim models, where you also lose 8 person seating by default as well.. Car manufacturers act like Heads up Display is some sort of new high end technology... its been around for 1/2 a century and is such a basic concept that to only include it on the high end models as if its some sort of super expensive new technology is laughable... it should be standard on all models of all vehicles as a safety feature... required by law... certainly more of a safety feature than back up cameras... which cause exactly the opposite thing to happen... people staring at a screen and hitting granny's walking from the side in a parking lot because they are glued to the screen instead of a head on a swivel like you used to have to do to back up...
Everyone copy successful Honda black edition, only Acura no black edition
Mannnn
Probably because Honda's Black edition is horrible
Acura has the a spec a type s
@tpcthepatrickchannelOFFICIAL shows you don't know anything. Honda do things to improve automotive industry and when others improve it its seen as new.
@Pj-ps2zn you are right, but wasn't black out badges unless like I paid for for my Integra Elite a spec, TLX Elite a spec and rdx Elite a spec Canada version
8th
Did what even is that laptop screen of an infotainment system? It's so unnecessarily big, Toyota had to make the buttons GIGANTIC to be able to use all that screen space. Destroys the interior aesthetic...
Engine recall 🎉 ⏲️ ⏳️ 🕐
Softex in a Limited Sequoia?? And that loud engine? No thanks.
Hideous tank! Just a square box.
It’s a great looking SUV/Truck but it has way too many issues. Not reliable and the 3rd row is useless and absolutely trash storage. Toyota failed so bad that they had to released the grand Highlander.
Nissan Armada is 100 times better than this garbage from Toyota.
Can't go wrong with Toyota
Thats what ya buy , not the brand with king of bad recalls title.
I just wonder if you’re aware of the recent Sequoia and Lexus LX recalls. 😬
That’s Ford not Hyundai
@@G-Rated Yep , but still better chance with Toyota , great dealers also .
@@G-RatedToyota stands by their warranties 😂 you don’t need to be an influencer to have a lemon bought back.
@@patrickgagnon9662 but your initial comment insinuates we should buy Toyota so that we don’t have to deal with the unreliability and recalls of their competitors while knowing Toyota has just issued recalls for this vehicle.
You sum up the average American Toyota (Japanese) loyalist in a nutshell.
Storage is horrible! Terrible design.
YES!!! I absolutely hate the storage. I thought there was a storage “trunk” like all the others and when there wasn’t I was so disappointed.
Agreed, it's like an American-made vehicle such as a Tahoe that looks big but isn't that big on the inside. If The polar opposite is say a Scion xb - a very small car but has a tremendous amount of room on the inside compared to its size.
If you want space you get a grand highlander.
I saw some bad reviews on it on Edmund
@@Jrahe0609its a hybrid...hybrids eat storage space
Nonsense. Too large footprint
First :D
worst toyota product! 2nd, 3rd row have the reverse mobility feature, trunk is small, and that abyssmal hybrid and mileage with that pricetag!!
Bruh, bad timing on the vehicle. The engines are blowing up on people
QX80 any day over this POS which is having engine failures
This has got to be the cheapest parts cost interior in this price segment. Did you hear the console shut? Lol The dash layout is hideous with buttons just aimlessly strewn about and super cheap air vent plastics. And the side of the driver seat cushion is stitched wrong. Don’t believe me? Get in any new Toyota suv and press your right knee against the center console…the whole thing moves! And fake leather for this price? Engine failure recall with NO fix….Yikes! Toyota has become the worst for interior quality in just 2 short years!
The interior looks cheap and also the taillights look like a cheap grade of plastic.
No thank you.
